1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Hand protection

Oct 30, 2022

    1. What can I put over my dolls hands to protect the fingers an all?

    2. For what purpose? Shipping, transportation, dressing up, lounging around?

The first two, just wrap bubblewrap around them real thick with some tape.

For dressing up, if your doll got pretty spread apart fingers, it can be a good idea to take them off for that. You can shove something between the strings to prevent them from slipping inside the arm. Some companies even offer little hand paddles for that purpose. Others are so nice to have magnets, which allows for hands to be pulled off easily.

For the latter, it the doll is basically just existing, there is no need to protect the hands.

    3. Just for storage when there in the boxes or in there carry bags

    4. I double with the bubble wrap! I have my dolls stored the same way and so far have seen no issues at all with fingers breaking or cracking. Even on international travel the bubble wrap works wonders.

    5. If they are in their boxes, and you basically don't do anything with them, there is no need to extra wrap anything. You wouldn't do that to a doll that stands or lies in a cabinet either, right?

The only thing that could harm them then is shaking the box or jumping onto it, and then a bit of bubblewrap around the hands won't help much :XD:

    6. When I’m traveling with a doll that has a manicure, I wrap their hands in thin foam packing sheets to make little mitts, but that really only protects the paint. I don’t think there’s any need to wrap fingers when a doll is in storage unless it’s going to be shipped. (And there really isn’t much that’ll stop fingers from breaking if enough force is applied, so it’s kind of a moot point.)

    7. I understand wanting to protect their hands if you are carrying them around maybe in a soft shell bag (I carry some of them this way because it's what I already have that works for me). My favorite hand protection system was from Soom packaging. I'm not sure if they still do it but they used to have little silky padded sleeves for the hands that came with the doll. Normally I don't do anything like this if I'm carrying them with me or especially if they are in a box I'm not planning to move or ship, it's only necessary to protect a bit from impacts.
There is some truth in the fact that you can't absolutely guarantee a hand won't break with enough force of course, though in all my years of shipping and receiving, the only parts that ever broke in transit weren't packed properly so ;) If I'm preparing for shipping I stuff the inside hollow between thumb and fingers the best I can and then cocoon in bubble wrap. It's better to try in this respect I think. It protects against some level of force I'm sure.

    8. Yeah I'll be traveling all over the country now been taking care of my dad for two years and he just passed away oct 24. I'll be going back to trucking and I know my dolls will be going with me and them long 14 hour days bouncing around in a rig I don't want to damage my dolls an all

    9. Makes perfect sense to feel worried. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope that at least you and the dolls can enjoy the open road a bit. Do you have any of those satin-y body pillows that often come with dolls? Those are nice just for general padding.

    10. Oh yes I got the satin things ..but the dolls will have take turns on which one will be out lol enjoying the view. I'll have bougie cord I don't think a seatbelt will hold lol. But I know they will keep me company each day when rolling
