1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Has this ever happened to you?

Apr 11, 2013

    1. Ever been looking at the Company News, click a link to view a new doll by a company you've known for a while, and suddenly want to change all your dolls into that company's dolls? Or most, anyway?

I was looking at Iplehouse's new ladies and Aria just GRABBED me. I had a character a few years ago named Aria, so I just had to view her link. Now I am giving it thought. (Even though I have a ton of other dolls and won't be selling them.) Have you ever done this? Sold your dolls and replaced them because of one new one just released? Or ever wanted too?

    2. I kind of had the same thing happen last month with Little Monica dolls. I'd been to the website before a few times but nothing ever really stood out and for some reason I was under the impression they only sold tinies O.o but when I clicked on the link last month I was hit with the most fervent want for their Enrill boy for a character of mine that I've been searching for for 13 years. Now I want at least 2 or 3 more from them and at least 1 to replace a doll I've already got. XD

    3. I'm like that with BlueBlood Dolls. I did re-shell two of my characters into BBD, and I created characters as an excuse to get the rest of their sculpts! When they release new dolls, I might have to reshell a few more. >.>

    4. Actually it has, but not over a company. Iplehouse closed out their old EID woman line and redesigned the body sculpt. I had purchased an EID Luna before they switched over, and now that I see the new body, I kinda wish she had the new body. I had quite a hard time convincing myself that it wasn't that big a change, which it isn't. Just because i want it doesn't mean its reasonable to change. I really love Luna the way she is.

    5. Yeah, this happened to me.... a couple years ago (2011 to be exact) I found out about Soom for the first time. I instantly fell in love. When Amphibel came out that March I knew I just had to have her no matter what. I had six dolls at the time from various companies and although it happened gradually over the next year or so, I ended up selling all six of those dolls. I now have eight dolls and four floating heads and all but three of those are Sooms (including Amphibel that I originally fell in love with!). O.O

    6. Yeah this happened to me with Migidoll. I now have a nearly complete collection of the SD-sized M-styles with 13 heads (minus the Ryu, Miho, and Jina variants). Luckily they all have bodies so none are floating around because I'm sure none of them like sharing *lol*.

    7. I've never found another company that made me want to ditch my CP Delfs...
When I find sculpts from other companies that I like, it's always more a matter of "let's add it to the collection" rather than "let's replace the collection". That's been true of everything from Volks and Soom to my Iplehouse EIDs.

    8. I only add to my collection, but it helps that I have less than ten dolls. I haven't gotten rid of any of my dolls even though my tastes have changed. I still have enough years ahead of me that I may wish I hadn't gotten rid of something later when I'm interested in them again.

    9. I haven't ever wanted to replace my dolls... BUT... I had thought that my dolls would be very different if I started buying at later times when certain companies came along...

Soom was definitely one company that made me think I'd have been happy to have started collecting their dolls. I've always gone for the fantasy dolls and they pretty much fulfilled my dreams!

    10. Aria is VERY beautiful.
I think she is so stunning!
Her sculp is really different, because she looks so much younger than the other SID's.

      I really like that :)

      - Though I do not think she would suit me :)

    11. Nope. I did have a similair feeling recently of 'if I ever buy more dolls I want them all to be this size' but I've never had the urge to sell my current dolls.

    12. i am fairly new to this hobby i would say, once i set my eyes on a doll and give them a character it's very hard for me to let go even if i find one that may suit better. but i understand the feeling!!! and somehow i hope it never possesses me!! XD

    13. This never happened to me. I always keep my dolls although they don't look as much pretty as it used to be :D I just purchase new dolls without selling my old dolls when I like new dolls!

    14. Yes, this has happened to me, kind of... Originally I just bought what dolls I liked form any company, msd or smaller. Now that I have sold all my msd sized dolls and have discovered the new DZ yosd bodies are just what I've been looking for, I have three (GuoGuo, Miss Kitty, & Mika) and a fourth on the way (Nyu). They all have the same body (two girls/two boys), so sharing clothes and shoes is easy. If DZ comes out with more, I'd probably be tempted! I still have my anthros and really tiny bjds, so I haven't completely switched over.

    15. I don't have the urge to sell any of my dolls but I am so in love with Ringdoll & Iplehouse that I can't think of buying from anywhere else at the moment. I sometimes wish I had found those companies before I bought any bjds but then I would have missed out on some lovely dolls. Who knows though that may all change in the future.

    16. This has... sort of happened to me. I wasn't interested in BJDs at all for a long time after I first became aware of the hobby. I would look at company pages or people's photos of their own dolls, and nothing at all appealed to me. They just all seemed so... samey. I couldn't tell sculpts apart at all back then :XD:

Then one day I stumbled onto Soom's page. And pretty much immediately wanted to own all their dolls. I poured over the sales pages for their (out-of-stock) MDs for weeks, and then when Cuprit was released, I jumped into the hobby by buying her!

And it's been all downhill from there (for my wallet, at least ;))

    17. Well, I certainly changed my plans alot... but before I buy dolls. I want to own a lot dolls from different companies. Infact I am reshelling an oc right now, because the size didn't work anymore. (originally yosd, now msd).
If you think you could sell a doll of yours and buy a new one, why not? ^^

    18. Hmm... no not really. I am very clear about what I want from the first place. Including BJD. I never had an urge to buy a large amount of dolls from one company. I guess if that company's style clicks with you it could happen.

    19. My first doll is based on my all-time favorite role play character. I've had him for years. Then last fall I saw a new sculpt and thought it looked just like the person I had envisioned for that character, and for the flicker of an instant I actually thought that doll should be the character.

I bought him. And I ended up not liking him and sold him. XD But I scared myself stupid for a moment. I think I'm just a bit frustrated because my character doll is a problem child that cannot pose or even stand up, regardless of how many times he's been restrung, hot-glued, sueded, and wired. But he was my first and remains my favorite. He's just very delicate and I have to be careful with him, and it's annoying while at the same time making him special.

    20. Yes, but in the end, I always give up. I have never been a fan of only one company - I always feel like buying only one sculpt here and there.
On the other hand, I like to see a certain harmony when I look at dolls of a certain kind in my collection (in this case, BJDs), and having dolls from only one company would be a simpler way of achieving that xD
So, I do feel now and then like replacing my current dolls from different companies and getting dolls from one single company. It would feel like they were "in order"... But, well, I wouldn't do it. :p
