1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have your doll plans ever been "eclipsed"?

Mar 8, 2008

    1. I think I’m having this experience now. For months now, I‘ve been planning on getting a MNF Shushu as soon as I could scrape together enough money. Shushu was the doll that finally made me decide I was getting a bjd. I planned out how I’d save for her and figured out all the accessories I’d need for her – clothes, wigs and eyes. Then just a couple days ago, I saw Iplehouse’s Cocori and, well, let’s just say I didn’t know it was possible to fall so hard for a doll. I still want a MNF Shushu just as much as before, it’s just that Cocori has taken precedence, to state it mildly. It’s actually more like ZOMG! GIVE ME NOW! I NEEEED THAT DOLL THIS SECOND! Which is kind of frightening, actually. *_* I still plan to buy Shushu eventually, but I feel just slightly guilty about my fickleness.

Anyway, has this happened to anyone else? Have you planned on buying a doll and then had your plans totally changed by a surprise attack of dolly love? What do you do about the doll that was “eclipsed”? Do you buy it first, or after the other doll, or not at all? Do you feel guilty about “abandoning” the first doll for another?

    2. That's exactly what I recently dis. I've been saving for a DZ Cherry for ages, and am now planning on a Puki Piki instead. (talk about a drastic difference here)

I thought about it good and hard before decided to go ahead and buy Piki first, but I had TONS of doubts and spent aaaages thinking about it.

    3. Oh, that happens all the time.

Or I fell in love with some dolls who I usually do not like and never thought I would ever get and then it hits me. Next thing I know, I am waiting for one to arrive.

    4. I changed my mind so many times before I settled on my first doll! I think it is because I was still new to the hobby then and there was always something new to see.

I've gotten a few friends interested in BJDs and it is funny to see them fall head ovr heels for a doll then, a week or so later, have an obsession with a completely different doll.

Now that I am more well rounded and I've been exposed to more sculpts, my choices don't change as much... I finally know what dolls I like and I'm not adding a new doll onto my list of favorites every other day. The only thing that really sways me now are owner photos.

    5. I had my mind set on a dollmore Nick Reilly for a long time, but I came upon a picture of an AoD Gu and he took Nick's place on my want list. Yesterday I saw an AA San on the marketplace and HAD to have him. San was the doll that made me want a doll... I have to have one. And since it's on the marketplace, I have to have him now or it might be never (heads and bodies aren't sold separately at abio angel).

So... I think I've now given up on both Nick and Gu in favor of San. Ack! I feel fickle too.

    6. I suspect that a lot of us have had that happen...

Myself, I have a Volks Amakusa sitting here that completely smashed the plans I'd made to order my FCS doll last autumn... I'll still have that sunlight F-17 one of these days, but Hideo just wasn't going to take no for an answer.

    7. I've changed my mind so many times.

First I wanted a Delf Yder, then I wanted a Woosoo Vampire, then it was an Elfdoll Standard K and then I wanted a DZ Yuu, then a DZ Mo, then a MD Ryu. Now I've settled on a Leekeworld Kyle and I feel shamed cos I've changed my mind so many times.

    8. Mine was more of a change in storyplans ( as in, the world where my dolls' characters take place ) rather than being bitten by the dolly love bug. My original plan after my Kirill and Ivan was a DIM Rain and then a Dolkot Dai. However, I now have a Angell-Studio BW Gus on the way instead and my dreamed DIM Rain has now taken the backside behind my much adored planned hybrid Lati Rucus. <3

Unfortunately for me, the story changed around so much I really don't think Dai will be coming home at all now since I just think it would be too awkward for me to own his character. Which is a crying shame really since I consider Dai to be one of the prettiest molds out there. x3

    9. Saved since October for a CP Miyu. A couple weeks ago? Saw Romantic Gena, HAD to get her. Now I wish I had gotten the Miyu instead, but... that's okay. ;___; Be careful with impulse buys. I'm going to have to sell my Gena someday. :...(

    10. I was saving for a Pipos Bao. Saw Bobobie Nissa and bought her without a seconds hesitation. My little fox just got set aside for a while. ^.^'

    11. Oh..this exact thing has happened to me. >_<

It makes me scared I wont bond with my dolls I will get...or better yet,, I'm scared and unsure what to choose. >.<

    12. yep. I was getting ready to order a sd13 fcs boy when my friend posted a link in her lj to the luts page (el specifically). Now, I'd seen El before on the forums and such (who hasnt?) and hadn't really considered him..but when I saw the boring picture my friend linked to I was like 'THATS HIM!!' he looked already like what I was going to do (mod) my fcs boy to look like. And he had the smirk!! So I decided he was to be mine. Then I checked the price (I had never bothered to do that before with the luts dolls) and I was happy because "I can buy him outfits! And his eyes! And the wig I already wanted!"
Now I don't even think about that fcs boy.

    13. Actually that just recently happened to me. I was saving up for a DZ Yuu (Tanned Silver Fox Ver.) and then I came across a site cold Lovely platform and in the end I fell in love with a AF Xi. So all my plans have changed and I am hoping to get the AF Xi soon!

    14. Oh, absolutely. I've had plans on getting bodies for characters in a particular order, only to have a doll suddenly show up that I had to have right away--my Unidoll being the prime example. He hadn't been planned on at all, but as soon as I saw him I just couldn't get him out of my mind.

    15. Usually I know the dolls I want and don't waver. It's a "gotta have" moment. I was struck by Elfdoll Hazy and couldn't get her out of my mind. Her name and character were already decided and I was just waiting for the release date. Then BAM! Unidoll releases their teaser pics of their Real Girls and Selina grabbed hold and wouldn't let go! There is no room now for Hazy and Selina will be my next girl.

    16. Oh absolutely! :) The companies know when you're at your weakest, and release all at the same time. It can be agony trying to choose which one to save for, but then... BAM! you find one that just knocks your socks off, and you don't care if you have to sell the kids, you WILL get that doll! ;)

Yeah. It happens. (...and yet another reason I don't have kids...) :XD:

    17. Well, I know how you feel because when I was new to the BJD scene, I was planning on getting myself a DIM Danbi for my first BJD.

Then all that changed when I fell in-love with Belita! And her sculpt was also being discontinued so I had to weigh between Belita and Danbi.

So I got Belita and I'm so happy that she is my very first BJD. I felt so guilty of not getting Danbi but that all changed when another DoA member showed me the dolls from Dollshe. I fell in-love with SA Husky.

Then suddenly (I blame this very much on my older sister), I was browsing the Volks website and I saw SD16 Yukinojo. I really didn't care much for him at the time but my sister said that he'd work perfectly for a character that a friend of mine and I collaborated on.

So off I go and I got Yukinojo to be my second BJD! I put off getting the Dollshe SA Husky for a few months.

But now I'm glad that I got him at the same time I went and put my YoSD Papi on layaway. Man, that was a pain in the wallet--many times I felt the temptation on drawing money out of the savings account but I'm glad I did a lot of paid overtime at work so it all worked out in the end.

So I guess to make up for not getting DIM Danbi, I got SA Husky and YoSD Papi. I know that's really weird but I don't feel guilty or bad anymore.

    18. Don't feel guilty! :) I did the same thing. I planned for months to get a lishe and then mnf shushu came out and I fell for her immediately. I still liked lishe for a while but I just put her on hold because I knew I wanted a shushu more.
Seriously, if you knew immediately you wanted a Cocori, she's probably the doll for you. After owning my shushu for a year, I still don't regret getting her over the lishe.

    19. my plans were eclipsed in the same day i made them. XD
I saw Lahoo on DoD, and was like "Woah.. lets get him O3O" and made 283473 plans for him in a minute...
But i saw Twin-b after a while.... :sweat His little clawed hand grabbed me and my mom by the hearts and squeezed :aheartbea

heh... i should recommend this thread to clarelapoo....

    20. No need to feel guilty at all! I fell in love with an F16 before I even owned a doll and worked and saved for an entire summer only to go crazy once I had saved enough and fall head over heals in love with a Sch. C head I saw for sale on DoA. :sweat
I gather it's not entirely uncommon for this to happen, especially in this hobby. Lol. Besides. There's a very real difference between "plans" and what actually ends up happening.
