Heel Legs vs Heel Feet?

Nov 15, 2021

    1. I have been shopping around for girl bodies and I have noticed some companies off heel leg parts with a whole lower leg with no ankle joint.

How do heel legs compare to just getting high heel feet? Is it worth it? Is it more stable? Is it too annoying to switch in/out compared to heel feet?

    2. I prefer heel legs - I like the aesthetic and I trust my dolls to stand in them more than with heeled feet. Heeled feet are nice for things like boots or heels with varying heel sizes. In my experience, as long as the heeled legs are designed to mimic the SD16 heel feet, you'll have a lot more shoe options.

I don't find it too cumbersome change the lower leg parts, though some companies have varying methods for how they approach it:. Switch sends you the bottom legs & flat feet strung separately so you can swap at the knee joint, while Sadol legs are strung all the way through and attach to a washer at the bottom. Volks cinches the elastic at the neck for the SDGr body that, in theory, allows you to adjust the tension. Depending on the doll, I don't find that I swap out the legs too often.

So really, like everything else, I think it's up to your preference, hah!

    3. I definitely prefer heel feet due to practicality reasons; restringing still scares me despite my few years in the hobby lol. Aesthetically heel legs really are gorgeous though. I feel like if I ended up caving and getting heel legs though I'd never use them since the idea of having to replace/restring those parts is a little overwhelming for me. It's all down to preference and how much time/energy you have to devote to stuff.

    4. I prefer heel legs because their appearance is more appealing to me.

    5. heel legs for me. the looks are very nice and are much easier to stay standing (in shoes)

    6. Ah if it's more stable I think I'm gonna try heel legs.

    7. I really like heel legs. With heel feet the ankles can be wobbly with a lot of high heeled shoes, whereas the rigid ankle on the heel legs does add a little extra stability. On top of that, I just think they look awesome. I have one girl that only has heel legs, and then I have a Sadol body with both heel legs and regular legs/flat feet. I don't find changing between her heel legs and flat feet any more of a pain than changing between heel feet and flat feet with my other girls, but then re-stringing anything in general doesn't really bother me.

    8. I only only heeled feet because of the companies I've bought from - heeled legs weren't an option at the time. I think you could go ask in specific company threads and see how owners feel about them! Heel legs look nice and might be more stable - plus if heels are the type of shoes you like, you can buy them just those! I am scared to restring so they're not up my alley just yet.
