1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long are you willing to wait?

Jun 17, 2007

    1. When you order a doll and the company tells you that it will be there in 2-4 weeks, do you expect it to arrive within that time, or do you expect delays. Are you happy to go out of the paypal/credit card refund timeframes or do you like to be covered in case of problems? Does it depend on the company you're dealing with. What do people consider is reasonable?

I've seen people complain because companies accounts are frozen because of paypal disputes. I've seen other people wait and had damaged dolls that don't get replaced and have no comeback because they're out of the timeframe for disputing.

I haven't put this into buying/shipping as I'm more interested in opinions and viewpoints rather than actual buying practice. Mods please shift if you feel it belongs there.

    2. For me, communication is everything. I'm pretty patient and will wait as long as it takes, as long as I feel like I haven't been forgotten entirely. As long as my questions are being answered and I get updates from time to time, I'll cut companies a fair amount of slack, but it does make me nervous if things go so long as to make a paypal dispute/refund impossible.

    3. I would say I agree with misa1 on this point. If it takes a long time and there's little or no communication, that's when it's time to get worried. I'd also say its more worrisome when dealing with a seller here, on ebay, etc. For the most part, the companies themselves have good reputations and seem pretty concerned with customer satisfaction. Individual sellers can be just as good, but there's a bigger chance of running into a scammer. I would be less worried about a shipping delay from Volks or Luts than I would be about a shipping delay from User X on ebay, you know? *hopes she actually got a point across in this post*

    4. I agree that communication is key but I think that if a company website states that the doll will be shipped within 10-15 days then they should follow through with that. I got tired of ordering from companies that promised delivery within a certain time and then didn't follow through. yet, others were getting dolls ordered after me. I won't order from companies that do not ship when they say they will and provide no reason for the delay. to me that is just bad business and poor customer service.

    5. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes.

I worked the military postal service when I was in the army and am aware of the unexpected delays and mishaps that mappen within both the military and the civilian postal services.

For example, EMS generally is VERY fast. But from time to time it can take an unexpectedly long ammount of time to get from the seller's hands, through customs and to your door.

If the company says 2-4 weeks, I expect more like 4-6 weeks.

Of course, its a huge help when the postal tracking online is updated frequently and when the company you're buying from sends you emails to say that your doll has shipped or notify you of delays.

    6. I'm with SolarCat on this one... If a company says 2-4 weeks I expect it to take a little longer and it's fine so long as they keep communication going, they have a lot of orders and delays can happen, I prefer them to get everything right instead of them doing it in a hurry and messing up the order. I wouldn't be that patient with a seller on ebay or in a forum... because there are scammers out there, because not being a company they don't have that many orders to worry about and so many reasons to have delays... They could just disappear and a big company can't, so they have to earn the costumer's trust more than a well reputed company has to.

    7. I'm willing to wait out that 1 month or so, offcourse I'm getting some emails from Edendoll where my doll is and I'll get a picture of her faceup, they are really nice with these things and thats really a help for someone as impatient as me. And a month waiting is not too much for me, who waited half a year when in that time I had the needed money.

I think I can consider myself lucky, I paied with paypal, cause there wasn't any other option, and it went really smoothly, no freezing, no nothing. 19 days to go!

    8. I've waited about six months or so for my doll to be delivered, but it was totally worth it because I wanted it so much.

    9. I agree with everybody that communtication is very very important. If there is a delay and someone can give me a good reason, I have no problem with waiting (a bit) longer. Although I'm very bad at waiting, I like things to be on time :sweat
When a certain timespan is given I always assume it would take the longest time given + one week or so.
EMS was not on my side with this one, plus 3 or 4 weeks before I could get my hands on my doll :...( (long story)

    10. I'm willing to wait much longer than the estimated time as long as the lines of communication are open. I also poke around on DoA before I order from a company I've never dealt with before to see if there's any discussion about their wait times. If it's an established company who exceeds their wait times but is known to pull through and deliver I'll bite the bullet and order if I must have the doll.

    11. I waited for my Liebchen just shy of 6 months. There were exceptional circumstances in that transaction. I waited for my Mythdoll Yue for 4 months.
Neither of these purchases were "Normal" time. I waited 3 weeks for my Notdoll order which is normal time frame.

    12. longest ive waited is six weeks. thats about as long as i can tolerate.

    13. I've waited four months, so really, time isn't that big of a deal. I agree with what others have said, communication is key. I was given an estimated time of three months and was fine with that, however, it became my responsibility to contact the company after that time to check on progress. That was when it became less about waiting and more about "okay, how much longer??" This was an FCS, so long waits can be expected, but if it's the doll I want I don't mind so long as I can feel like I will get it in the end.

    14. I figure that the time period that the company gives is a basic estimate. Bjds aren't pumped out quickly in large quantities, and things can go wrong. I'd rather have the company take a little longer to fix any issues, then hurry and send out a flawed doll. Plus things like holidays, the weather in Korea (monsoon season), or increased orders from a sale can slow the process down.

However, as a customer, I always appreciate it when the company takes the initiative and lets me know of any hold ups. When I ordered from Unidoll, they were very good and contacted me when they new my doll wouldn't be shipped out on time. For the most part, I've been lucky and haven't had any waits longer than 6-7 weeks.

    15. Longest I've waited is up to 2 months. Communication is truly the key here and as long as they have ample reasons, i am willing to wait. hah. Afterall, i want the doll! :)

    16. I don't mind waiting as long as I know the status. I love EMS tracking!

    17. for me i excpect delays but any thing over a week and a half is pushing it for me, I might be ok with two weeks if im in a good mood.

    18. I'd keep in contact, even if it were multiple months, as long as I'd get the doll I bought in the end. :)

    19. I'm very willing to wait if (a) I trust either the person or company I'm ordering through/from, and (b) if communication is kept up and I'm appraised of how things are going.

I think the longest I've waited on a doll directly from a company is Dream of Doll, at about 6 weeks. The longest I have/am waiting on a doll ordered through a friend is 8 months... although the circumstances of that one are rather odd. To explain the 8 month waiting time: my friend ordered & sent the doll to me, the doll was lost/stolen in customs, the doll had to be re-ordered (thank goodness for EMS insurance), and as neither of us wanted to risk the postal system again, my friend is bringing the doll back with her in August.

    20. I'm fine with waiting until I'm not!
