1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long do you wait before getting a new doll?

Jun 2, 2013

    1. I only got my new KDFs a few days ago, but even after I'd purchased them I'd already set my heart on my first ever MNF. I can technically afford it, but I feel really dodgy spending so much on dolls in one month!

How long do you guys wait to get a new doll? Should I let these guys settle in first? It's just that the MNF bodies are so beautiful <3

    2. I order when I can as with the pre-orders, processing times, and limited editions, sometimes it's months before the doll is delivered. To me theres nothing worse than having my heart set on a doll and waiting too long and having it sell out. Congrats on your new dolls!

      Dani

    3. It depends on the availability of the doll and how much money I have. I had to wait over a year for one doll because it wasn't available when I had the money. I have a feeling that's what will happen with the doll I want right now.

    4. If I feel like I want the new doll soon after purchasing another there's nothing stopping me from buying it- given that this doll is available. I don't feel like there should be a set time between dolls, just however much you feel is needed. If you feel the need to space out your doll purchases you will do so without needing to ponder much about it, I think. c:

    5. I ordered my second before the first was even home so I can't talk :sweat
Basically I'd say if you're sure about the doll and can afford it, go for it ;)

    6. I guess I just feel a bit of guilt since they're so expensive! I think I'll wait at least a month, see how I go with sewing/bonding with these guys :) Plus I should get them their proper face-ups etc... I guess I got caught up in the new doll euphoria :P

    7. I'm having a weird situation now - I haven't brought a doll in a long time and no longer own any due to finances. I literally got my first wages a few weeks ago though so I'm back here! I asked about sculpts for my character and someone helped me find one thats 99.9% perfect. I really want to buy him but I feel like I need to wait a bit even though I can afford him. I don't want to wait, I want to order him right now but I don't feel like I should buy him yet. However, I don't want him to sell out or anything ^^; Maybe I am just weird....

    8. I wait until I'm completely sure that the doll in question is the one I want and then it's just a matter of funds.

    9. I know how you feel Nathaldron! I'm certain on the doll I want next (MNF Shushu) and can afford her, but I'm holding back because of niggling doubts that are mainly to do with guilt at spending a lot/maybe a bit embarrassed by the hobby (my family aren't nasty but they don't understand and say I'm wasting money etc) I'm sure lots of people have that kind of response though!

    10. Same. Ordered second and third, actually...about about to be forth! :x

I don't think it's a problem to order rapidly if you can afford it...but if you're putting yourself in the hole to do it, or if you wind up selling a lot of your dolls as soon as you get them, you should probably slow down!

    11. Depends on my financial situation and the availability of the doll I want, sometimes there are only a few days or hours between the orders :)

    12. I have the guilt about spending the money because I feel like I should be spending it on more "useful" things but its been ages since I brought anything for myself and I miss my dolls very badly. I'm mainly worried that mine feels a bit like an impulse buy...even though I keep looking at him and thinking I just love his face so much...it feels "right" if you know what I mean! I'll give it a week or so I think!!!
Yes, a lot of people have that response to any sort of collecting but its totally up to you. As long as you are not going into debt or anything, it doesn't matter what you spend your money on to make you happy ^_^ I would never tell anyone what to do with their money and I don't listen to people when they try to tell me what to do with mine!

    13. If you have the funds, that makes all the difference IMO. I got 3 dolls when right after my first BJD. Of course one came right away and the other two were pre order so a tad longer. I think as long as you enjoy them, and love the look and have the money, go for it.
I did feel guilty about spending so much for my BJDs, but honestly this hobby is so much fun, and gives so much joy, why wait?
Also, you can visit the gallery and see all the MNF to see if that is the doll you really truly want next.

this is why its called collecting, hard to have just one, and besides dollies need friends too.

    14. For me, it's been everywhere between 8 months to about 10 minutes. lol i don't have a set "waiting time", it just depends on if I have the spare money and if the doll is available.

    15. It really depends on money. I waited a year and a half between the first and the second, and then all of five months between two and three. Three still hasn't arrived, but I know that she will be my last doll for at least a year or two. She has to be. I can't afford more than three!

    16. Lately I've tried not to get my dolls bumper to bumper like I used to, but something always happens and I end up doing that anyway. This year, it's been all the limiteds that I just -have- to have. I do like waiting for dolls though, because if I get too many in a row I feel like I don't have time to bond with them.

    17. As long as it takes until I

      a) decide what doll I'll buy next and
      b) have enough money for the doll

..and as long as there's nothing else expencive I want/need at the moment :) At the moment, I think I'll just save up in case some just-have-to-get -limited doll floats by ~<3

    18. It depends on the dolls, whether i have the money, etc. I think the shortest time was a few hours. That was between a pocketfairy and a floating head on the mp here tho. Full dolls? A week maybe is the shortest. Like i just got my Dew (who is changing genders) and am trying to earn extra cash to get the female body for his head, his body went to a floating head.

    19. For me, it all depends on dolls and therefore how strong I like it. If I have this doll under way. Last but not least role played by the availability of money. But now I try to be restraint in their desires, do not buy any doll with not having considered all the pros and cons.

    20. Depends on availability, if I have the money, and if it's limited. Usually I'll buy the doll I want right then if I have the money. Right now though, I need to save that money for two anime conventions, cosplay costume/wig, a hotel, unexpected expenses, etc. If I didn't have those then I'd probably by myself a MNF...I want a Celine in tan skin ;_;. Ahhh, dreams will be dreams. I actually bought a secondhand LTF about a day after I received my KDF from Luts and I love them both. It just seemed like the right time to buy.
