1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How many is too many?

Apr 26, 2014

    1. I am starting out collect pukifee and realpuki and wanted to know when is enough of them enough? I find I just can't have one. How many do you feel happy having?

    2. how many do you have. I think you maybe have too many when they are waiting in a draw or collecting dust. my mum always had a rule if you havent touched it in 30 days, you no longer need it. unless your having a break from the hobby that could be a good way to decide if you have to many or if you need to part with the one sat on the shelf

    3. If I followed that rule I'd have hardly anything in the house! I'd have to get rid of most things in the kitchen too :lol:

      I'm OK with my dolls being dust collectors sometimes, they still make me smile when I see them I just don't always have time to do stuff with them.

      I think you have too many when you don't appreciate them or feel overwhelmed by how many you have. This point will be different for everyone and will even vary depending on where people are in their lives. I reached that point before and sold the majority of my dolls because I felt I had too many then. I've since built my collection back up and actually have more dolls now, I'd be quite happy with a few more now though!

    4. As a new be at the doll world, I didn't think I was a doll person, but I find I do like these little guys. Yes I guess it will be different for everyone.

    5. Well, I have four RealPuki's. I don't think I have too many. Three girls and one as a boy- it's a nice balance. BUT, I do think I have too many Dreamhigh Studio dolls. I have about 20 I think. I don't know how it happened....... :o
      I have two Dollmore Dahlias- sometimes that seems like too many. So I keep them in different rooms. LOL!!

    6. Tiny dolls have this very nasty habit of multiplying! You get one and then BAM! Suddenly they're bring home friends and long-lost relatives to come and stay too! :lol: And because they're so tiny, it's not like they take up a whole lotta space! XD I had 4 Puki's at one point and for me that was too many. They were super cute, but I just wasn't doing much with them all. So I re-homed two and just kept my two favourites (who also have a lot of sentimental value)! :)

    7. I currently have 4 RealPuki, 3 PukiPuki and 3 Banji and no problems with the numbers...

      {shrug}

      I suspect it's one of those personal things - one person's Not-Enough will be another person's Too-Many

    8. You may want to do a search on this topic, as there have been more than a couple of threads about this. There's even one that alluded that more than (insert specific number here) should be considered hoarding, which sparked a pretty major debate.

      As Teddy said, it all boils down to personal preference. What is too many for you may be too few for others, and vice versa. And that's okay. People value their collections in different ways...for some, being a display on a shelf is great so more may be to their liking, for some the daily handling is imperative so they stick with a few. Whatever floats your boat. It's not up to me to judge the collections of others or set an arbitrary limit according to my own preferences.

      I currently have an amount of tinys that most people would consider WAY too many, and have yet to find my upper limit even after almost ten years in the hobby. I've been their passionate advocate for years. Troop Tiny is definitely an "IN" door only home...when someone calls to me, they come home if I can manage it. The more, the merrier, I say, as anyone who has seen my display at shows can attest to. Yes, my kids sometimes go a while without being handled/changed/etc, because I have two careers and often do not have much free time. But that's okay...they don't get mad at me, or starve to death, or die of neglect. They're still willing to be little ambassadors at shows and meetups, which is important to my personal doll experience. That's a big part of how I enjoy my dolls. :D

    9. "Too many" seems to have a different definition for many people. I think 4 Real Puki would be too many of them, but I know of someone who is happy with 9! They're just a bit too small to have many of for me. But as a range from Real Puki's to mature tinies I want, like 30. They all need friends their size so that means more than one per company line. I think it's too many if you can't keep track of who's who! That will take a pretty big number for most of us.
