Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Ideas for a One-eyed Doll!

Jun 7, 2011

    1. Hello all,

Soon a new doll head will be coming home, and I'm looking for ideas.
He originally had both eyes closed, but one eye was modded half-way open. While this is a bit of an odd mod, he's absolutely beautiful (he's a Switch Yujin mod if you're wondering).

I originally had plans to give him my own face up, but I've gotten pretty attached to the gorgeous mod he already has.

Anyone have any ideas about what I can do with a one-eyed doll? Like a creative eyepatch/eyecover or something? I was thinking of adding a scar but I have no faith in my face-up skills at the moment.

      Any and all ideas welcome!

    2. I have a one eyed one that I customed myself I redid his eyes to make one a different shape and nullify one (he's still lacking makeup hence the epoxy coloring) Here's the before and after of this almost done project

I'm probably going to leave it as a gentle scar look...

    3. I think the eye patch idea is a good solution! You could make different ones to go with different outfits (make sure you back them with something soft and white so you don't stain the faceup). And you could always change your mind and paint a healed scar later once you've had time to think about it and let him settle in.

    4. I don't think it would be so odd if the head was "winking", either, but it would depend on the facial expression to work.

    5. I think an eyepatch would be cool. You could do different things with it based on his personality and backstory - do you have a character concept for him yet? I'm having some ideas...

Is he a warrior who lost his eye in battle with his hated foe? A black or dark red eyepatch could repesent his failure.

A normal kid who lost it in an accident, or due to a disease? A white medical patch then.

A fantasy character who traded his eye for forbidden knowledge or to save a loved one? A leather or suede patch would fit the setting, maybe in the shape of a heart if he did it for love.

Is he from a futuristic/steampunk setting? Then make it out of metallic fabric.

Is he rather flamboyant? The patch could be silk or velvet and brightly colored, or even have a pattern on it.

And you can make it in different shapes - hearts, stars, etc. - and even find iron-on patches and appliques to put on it, or sew something yourself if you're feeling brave. The obvious example here would be skull and crossbones = pirate.

I'd suggest taking a look in your local fabric/craft store and seeing if you can find something that inspires you.

    6. Oh wow these are all such amazing ideas! Thanks so much everyone! :D
