Dollshe and the sculptor may not advertise his products on this forum. Sales may not be discussed, no news threads may be posted regarding new releases. This ban does not impact any dolls by Dollshe ordered by November 8, 2023. Any dolls ordered after November 8, 2023, regardless of the date the sculpt was released, are banned from this forum as are any dolls released under his new or future companies including but not limited to Club Coco BJD.     1. If you could go back in time, knowing what you know now about the dolls you own and want, would you do things differently? Would you hold off on one because you knew another was coming along that suited the character more or would become a dream doll? If not, why? (Remember, you can only go back as far as you knew about the hobby, not when the hobby first began!)

      I'll go first.

      Yes, absolutely. I would have only bought certain ones, and gotten others as they popped up. I would not have the huge collection I have today. One I'd like to own was barely released to the public outside of Japan, making her harder to get, but still, I would have waited on her. I wouldn't have gone wild in getting the dolls I own now as there are a few out there I would love to own.

    2. I don't think I would have made any changes doll wise... perhpas I may have gotten my Elf Lishe when she first came out.

      But there are things I would have done differently:
      I would not have bought half the clothing I own... and I would have snatched up several outfits I missed out on in place of those. Shoes as well.

      And there are several pairs of eyes I have now found that I can indeed live without. Who knew?

    3. Even if I could go back in time, I wouldn't necessarily be able to change circumstances. I've missed several dolls I loved because I just didn't have money at the time. I can look back and wish for them now as I wished for them then, but it wouldn't do any good. I'd need the time machine and the money tree both.

      But I would have bought the Rasendou optional prayer hands while they were still in business. I missed my chance and will probably never find them now.

      Well, and Teacup... and Kess... and definitely Al... and maybe Issun...

      Anyway, like Rynn, I wouldn't have anything like the group I have now. It's much, much easier never to get the dolls in the first place than it is to downsize a collection after you've become attached to all of them.

    5. I think if I did it again I probably would have gotten DOC Too and Bee-A instead of my Volks Sakura. Much as I love her I want them too and it took me so long to get a second doll as it is....forget one her size....As it is I found them a couple months after I got her. heh. Ah well I don't regret the way things happened though! I love my little Anathema dearly~

    6. Isn't that the truth, Brightfires! I know which I would have gotten but it is hard to let go of them once you get attached.

      And I do understand about needing a money tree! I need one all the time, lol. ^^

    7. I regret the level of responsibility I demonstated in not buying the recent Soom Sard while I still had Beryl on layaway. I REALLY wish I'd gotten him.

      I also wish I hadn't gotten Beryl as a full set. Most of my regrets are buying something I liked at the time but decided I didn't like later. Full set Beryl and full set Celine are the two big ones. I wish I'd just bought the dolls. But for the dolls themselves? I only have five, six with Beryl who I just paid off.. I don't regret and wouldn't trade any of them.

    8. I acutally wish I had known about BJD's in general alot sooner!!! (just got into them about 5 months ago)
      Because then when SOOM's Sard-Night Odessey came out I could have gotten him before he sold out T.T
      And I'd probably have my Floy by now too, instead of having to wait a few more months to gather money.... ^^;

    9. I think I would've done things a little differently, like I would've started my collection when I first discovered BJDs instead of shying away from buying my first one for almost two years. Then I would've been right there when the Shinsengumi Bermann came out and I would've gotten my favorite version.

      I think my whole group would be very different today if I'd bought the first BJD I fell for, my collection would've begun with a first version Cecil and all of my choices would've been based on him instead of my Bermann or El.

    10. i would have bought extra outfits when i bought my dolls. my boys spend most of their time naked, huddled under a blanket together shivering like a paid of nude homeless people (not because they don't have any clothes, i just prefer to be nude at this stage) but hopefully, once i get some clothes to fit their characters it would be good.

      i also wish i had got my Elf Ducan before i got my Homme Ivan...the size difference was a huge shock to me.

    11. If I could go back in time...I really would not have purchased certain dolls I have now on impulse!!!.:roll:....I wish I had of restrained myself like I can now!! I take my time....I also would not have bought so many outfits for them...as I like to sew now!....I will probably put some of my dolls up for adoption soon!!.....I would be happy to own only Dollstown exclusively...*sigh*......as they(DT) are really the only ones that fit my characters......I'm learing from my mistakes I guess.......:doh

    12. I would probably have one more doll than I do now (or have incoming, or plan to order soon).

      ...I would, however, have had to build a new room for all of the wigs and eyes and boots and bits and pieces that have long ago sold out that could be coerced into fitting them.

    13. I would change only one thing:
      Yelena's mold.

      I wouldn't buy a dollzone cherry, but a CP dark elf soo instead.

      However, currently I have decided to safe up and buy a DES to transfer Yelena to a new mold.
      The dz cherry will get a different personality/character.

      As for my other dolls, they would be the same as they are now. :)

    14. The only thing I would change is some of the accessories I've bought. The only piece of clothing intended for BJDs that I've bought nobody wants to wear, I have a pile of excess blue eyes, and nobody I expect to buy in the next couple years will wear them, and the only thing I got from the Monique wig was that Tanal actually did want long hair.

      As far as the dolls? I don't think I could adore Tanal any more, so I'd still get him first. The other two were forced timing because of discontinuation, and I'm kind of glad that I had to get Christopher early... the extra time has let me realize there's a better sculpt for thothep than I'd originally been planning on... and it's cheaper so I can reach the four of them sooner.

    15. hmmm going back in time with what I know now would surely make me change some things.

      I knew and liked BJD's for 3 years before buying my fist one on fear of discontinuation. so another time around I would just buy him immidiatly.

      that would have left me with more money and would have gotten me a DOT Shall on just liking her for a long time.

      but I would still have gotten my Tatiana.

      so in the end I guess not knowing saved me money because of late I have lost my interest in Shall :)

    18. I would have bought the Shinsengumi Kurogatsu Bermann when he was sitting unsold on the Tensiya site, because I really loved him and I talked myself out of the purchase for weak reasons. But otherwise . . . nope, life's good. :)

    19. I couldn't agree more. I love all my girls NOW but I wish I would have held off buying at least four of them (I couldn't pick which four since I like them all now that I own them)...I NEVER NEVER NEVER wanted more than five....THREE was my ideal number.

    20. Things I would have done differently?

      1. Prepare a home for them, and finish up their beds, and chairs before they arrived.
      2. Bought a new sewing machine before they turned up to make (1.) easier than having to do it with a crappy sewing machine and mostly by hand.

      I'm in love with all my dolls, and wouldn't do anything differently with the ordering of them. I'm already ok with the number of dolls I have/will have. The only ones I'm pining for is a hound/ryu/bermann valentine. And since I refuse to spend 4K on a doll, while I'm earning what I'm earning, I wouldn't have bought them earlier anyways.
