1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you could set one standard to producing BJDs...

Dec 8, 2023

    1. ... what would you pick?

While I embrace all the different options we get, I'd probably choose that all feet must follow the same guide per size because finding shoes is a pain.

    2. I wouldn't want to do anything that restricted the artists in any way. I love the diversity and we already have people shopping based on what fits rather than by what they really like. I can't see anthing good lying in that direction.

But I wouldn't mind a standardized system for shoe sizes that is more based on actual measurements of the space in the shoe, not just outside measurements or vague doll sizes that it's ment to fit.

    3. I'd vote for that option too

    4. This is bullc*rp!! Every doll needs to be using the one touch system!! Give me easily swappable and secure hands or give me death!!

    5. Make them all 12 cm (Lati white sp/Orientdoll as the standard)!!!!! Imagine every BJD in this size. It's a bit evil though:evilplot:

    6. I'd want the option for fantasy parts to always be available. I want cute digitigrade paws for my cuddly anthro dolls!

    7. At least one shade of tan always available. Preferably a couple with at least one dark tan and all tans being easily distinct from the normal shade(s), but a tan consistently available. I think this one's been getting better?

(If I could set a standard for wigmakers, too, it'd be to have curly/textured wigs available. Natural hair type curls. Not just "cute little ringlets" curls. I'm glad I took the plunge and learned some wigmaking for my curly-haired dolls but man I wish I didn't have to do that for all of them!)

    8. Thereโ€™s something called the anatomical position for anatomy. Itโ€™s a standardized pose of the human body, and itโ€™s used so people can study without confusion on what part is posed how.

If there was something similar, either in pose or concept, for BJDs in company sales photos, that would be super helpful.

    9. RFID chips or something similar imbedded in the heads and bodies to better verify if a doll is real or recast.

    10. so much this. i'm sick of seeing skin color lineups with an ashy beige color as their darkest shade... if that even! and the audacity to only offer tan at certain times/on limited releases... ugh, so much ugh.*_*

my 2nd choice would be offering both short/long nail length hands variations and heel feet for dolls of every gender! :3nodding:

    11. :eusa_pray Company make por favor. I hate it when a doll I want has no face up option.

    12. I'm also in the standardized foot size camp! :XD:

    13. Standardized resin colors. All companies must offer one or two resin colors that match every other company. Even if that color is just white!
And no, it's not because I am a hybriding loon.
      ...
Yes, it's because I am obsessed with hybrids.

    14. As someone who also like to hybrid, I would love standardised colours too, it would make the hobby so much easier XD

    15. Heck, I'd like a standardized naming for resin colors. Enough of Company A's peachy skin being darker than Company B's peachy-
      Gimme hexcode or Pantone colors.
Unfortunately, though, I know something like that is unreasonable for all doll companies, b/c at least the Pantone ref. books are something like 400$ every purchase. And need to be repeatedly purchased because color fades in the references too.

    16. I agree some kind of standard color system would be neat!

All companies showing blank heads from at least 3 different angles in every doll's listing. So i don't have to try to go hunting for them! I know a lot do show blanks heads, but not all of them!

    17. I love a lot of these ideas! Foot sizes, range of colors, and definitely the One Touch system!!

I would also like to add some things, but not limiting artists, just requesting changes to how dolls are sold!

-Every doll listing must show the full nude doll (and a pic of body comparisons if there are multiple options), and also a plain, basic picture of the blank head with no editing or artistic flare.

-Measurements should be accurate and easy to find. Preferably listed on the doll's sales page. I hate searching all through news, notices, FAQ, etc just to find basic measurements.

-Accurate wait times must be clearly stated on every sales page. If it takes longer than listed, there should be some sort of bonus for waiting, whether that's a partial refund, extras (wig, outfit, shoes), free additional parts (like heel feet, extra hands, horns, etc) or a very generous coupon for next time. I think this would make it easier on buyers to have realistic expectations, and make any additional wait more bearable, and also encourage artists/companies to stick to their listed wait times and not take more orders than they can fulfill in a reasonable amount of time.

    18. I'd very much like a standardized WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MEASUREMENTS type of system.

Is the neck measured from the top, or where it connects to the shoulder? How wide are those shoulders, exactly? Case in point: Company A said they measure their shoulders with the arms included, while Company B said they do not include the arms. If you like to hybrid dolls, accurate measurements would be such a godsend.

Also, blank sculpt/body pics would be such a great help. Not just the front -- has to show the profile as well! I've fallen in love with sculpts that turned out to have not-so-good profile views because there were no photos available.

    19. standard resin colors would be great. I love to make hybrids and standard colors would make it so much easier.
