1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you had unlimited funds to spend on modding a doll:

Dec 18, 2014

    1. This is a little different than the other unlimited money threads.
In this thought game we have unlimited funds (and skills) to mod one doll.

      What would you do?

I'd plate an entire doll in gold and inlay gems.

      Edit:

I would say sculpting a bjd or casting one counts. (not recasting)

Let's try to stay more on the mod side though cause I don't want to go off topic.
The joint is a great place to talk about making dolls

    2. Oh, this is fun! Does casting a handmade doll count? I would love to finish the doll I've been working on and cast her, but it's so expensive and requires a lot of skill with moldmaking.

    3. I'd love a doll carved out of white jade or alabaster. Something subtly beautiful and eternally enduring.

    4. Sadly my issue has less to do with money and more to do with lack of skills and time.

I'd LOVE a doll with intricate carvings down the legs. I've seen tattoos that look like the woman's legs were ivory carved with swirls and beautiful designs. It'd make a kick ass mod.

    5. Me? I'd spend those unlimited funds on setting up a proper workshop, with appropriate ventilation, all the safety equipment I need, all kinds of knives and files, a flex shaft grinder (like a dremel, but more awesome), sculpting and casting equipment... forget the crazy exotic materials and all that, I'd go straight up practical! :)

    6. All of my dolls are human (except one), and I'm really not into crazy mods for my own dolls, so I think I'd just have Kier's Spirtidoll Elegance body sanded down to look as thin and bony in the hips/thighs as it is in the chest/collarbone area. He should be super skinny, but Doll Chateau's proportions aren't right for him.

    7. Unlimited funds you say? Buy a Enchanted doll fullset, cast in white jade but made with the materials she would normally use on her full sets. Like Crystals, Precious metal plating, Gold, Glass beads, and Gemstones.

    8. If I had unlimited funds I'd turn some of my favorite dolls into automatons.

    9. There is nothing that's keeping me from doing that with the dolls I have. I have big plans for customizing them actually. It's not about money really. Nothing I want to do with any of my dolls is all that expensive. Most of it I can do myself and I want to but I'm having health issues and so the dolls and their customization is kind of taking a back seat to that right now. If I had unlimited funds I might pay to have one or two of them faced up better than I can do it. I might buy some clothes that normally I'd just make. I like doing it myself actually up and to a point. It's a very creative thing for me working on a doll. If I had the big $$$ I might add 4 more, a male-female pair of Iple dolls, and a male-female of 16" Dollmore dolls because they're so totally out of my price range. I would love to have them, but that's about it.

    10. Ooooh, this! Especially, if you also have the funds to make it a really inspiring and beautiful place. I see some of the 'most inspiring ateliers' on the internet, and I'd really love to be able to work in those :).

    11. If I had unlimited funds, my dream would be more about setting up the proper world/sets for my dolls than it would be about modifying a single doll. And really, the biggest restriction there is space. I just don't have the room to do what I want. So I guess I would buy a new house, with a big shop or basement that I could dedicate entirely to the dolls, and use that space to create a series of sets just for the dolls. (Really, there's mostly just one group of dolls for which I would want to make sets. The others I might want one set each, just for them to hang out it. But this one group, they need a whole series, for a bunch of different locations.)

    12. This. Then I'd buy one of those crazy huge Iple EID guys (a Taregan, to be exact) in ebony skin and use all the awesome tools and workshop things to transform him into the most badass resin Klingon the 1:3 scaled world has ever seen. :mwahaha

    13. I'd commission Cuarto to make me a silver-plated dragon with articulate wings. And then commission a set of interchangeable semi-precious jewel eyes.

    14. All the jewellery ideas have given me awfully tempting ideas for my fantasies hahaha

Unlimited funds? Why not grow synthetic diamond and carve a doll out of that? Or synthetic corundum (ruby or sapphire) ?? or for more manageable materials, why not carve out of jadeite? Imagine the kind of optical effects you could get depending on the material you pick *drools* Oh, oh, opalized anthro dolls! You'd probably want the opal to be fake, unless you go for boulder opals..

You could inlay gold wire, or get someone to inlay some turquoise or shell. It would be very easy to cast in gold or silver, but it'd be super heavy xD

*cackling madly, adhara is left to quieten down in a dark room*

If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably hire a jeweller friend (or pay my SO a ridiculous pay rate) to sit and churn out elaborate jewellery like Marina does for her enchanted dolls with me.

    15. A doll in life size..lighter resin or another type of material...joints like elbows and knees that are more realistic looking..kind of like fairylands knees on the 70 and 65cm dolls..they look more realistic and bend perfectly .dont poke out in pants when sitting.
ful motion range joints as we have that can lock into place for posing....jointed realistic feet, toes fingers.
true to life just give them a soul.

    16. Make mature tiny versions of Soom's awesome Super Gems!

    17. ^ Yes this, ^ and a whole room for their apartment and cafe.

    18. Have a house made up just for all my Boys and girls, on fantasy setting, one japanese, chinese, gardens everything!!!!!!

    19. I'd have a doll room, just for them, with a separate area for photoshoots with the proper lighting and backdrops and props. Then I'd have custom resin or acrylic wings made for Sera that would be able to take and hold every possible position.

    20. Since I've few dolls left, the only thing which comes in mind is some mods of my Chiron centaur, to make it more bulky, more realistic horse body and changing some details of the existing resin parts.

Nearly none of my characters are humans, but if I had to choose one for a BJD version, would be my "alien cat girl".
