1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Image requires JPG or GIF format

Jun 14, 2024

    1. Hi, I'm trying to list a couple dolls in the marketplace but I get an error message that the URL needs to end in a JPG/GIF format. Which image hosting site does this? I've tried Google Photos, Photobucket, and Flickr but they all have the same type for format that's not working.

    2. Some people have trouble with Imgur, but that's what I use and haven't had problems so long as I use the large thumbnail or smaller. (Original size doesn't load, but I think that's because my camera does massive images and they're too big for DoA.)

    3. Flickr is what I use.

Once you're on the page for the photo you wnat to share, click on the share icon (arrow bent to the right - over to the bottom right of the image, on a computer, at least - I don't know about mobile phones) and select BBCode then copy and past the link from the box (make sure the lower box is set to "Medium" or smaller or you'll have trouble posting it here on DoA)

    4. I use postimages, which is bare bones and decent enough. But I don't think it's the host you are having a problem with, it's the link you're copying - you will need a direct link that ends with .jpg (or.gif) - it should look like https://www.imagehost.com/yourimgname.jpg

Image hosts often give you different options of what to share but the marketplace form requires the direct link to the image without any of the other faff. You should also be able get it when you right click the image and choose "copy image link" or "open image in new tab" and copy the URL from there.

If you're still having problems, make sure your image is actually a jpg (some smartphones use another format so you will need to convert the pictures) and not too big (I usually resize to 800x600 to be sure it doesn't show up as a red X here).

Good luck, I'm sure it's easily solveable!

    5. I'm using Flickr and usually I can copy the link by right clicking on the image and choosing "Copy Image Link". I then get a link with a ".jpg" at the end that I can insert on here.

    6. You need to make sure that the link you're using is a direct link to an image. If the link ends in .html or .com for example it won't work, it actually needs to end in .jpg or similar. Pretty much every website allows this (with exceptions), you just need to know how to get to the link if they don't offer it neatly at the bottom of the page already.

This is an image I just hosted on Imgbb:
      IMG-4598-Edit hosted at ImgBB
I cannot use this link with the image tag on here, see how there is no image file ending on the URL?
If I long hold/right click on the image and tell it to show me the image in its own tab, I get to see it with its direct link:
      https://i.ibb.co/1Gnn47q/IMG-4598-Edit.jpg
There's a .jpg at the end.

If I use this now with the image tag on here, I can successfully embed it into my post:

    7. Use Flickr, and go to the desktop version of the site (you can do this on an iPhone by selecting “view desktop site” or by using a laptop or desktop computer) click the arrow at the bottom of the picture, and select BB code of the options that it gives you. Then select the following part of the BB code to have the image link:

the bit that I’ve highlighted will work on the MP in your listings. I’ve been doing all my listings this way for years and it’s always worked!

    8. That’s very similar to what I do but I copy and paste the whole link and just delete the beginning and ending IMG segments.
