1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Update Iplehouse foreign exchange rate adjustment

Apr 27, 2010

    1. This means that US prices would be more expensive. For example, if my calculations are correct, a doll that now costs $640 (EID males) would be about $670 after the price adjustment.

      I only hope that other companies don't follow suit! :lol:

    2. So if we get our orders in before may 17 we pay the old listed price?

    3. According to Iplehouse, yes, if you pay before then you pay the old listed price.

    4. And about layaway?
      My first payment is paid in april and I have two payment due for the end of may and july but I dont need to pay more than my first payment?
      Sorry for my bad english.

    5. Try asking Iplehouse on their message board.

    6. And for Canadian's that works out to be even more. 670 USD is 683.97 CAD. I'm with Yuanfang hoping that other companies do not follow suit.

    7. I'm confused. Doesn't this actually mean that the prices are going to decrease instead?

      Because if you go by this ratio of the current going price for EID: 640/1100 = x/1050, x=610 (approximately).

      The only way the price would increase to 670 is if they're changing the rate of exchange to 1100. But they're adjusting it to 1050. (Or maybe I really suck at math and I just didn't understand the way they worded that announcement).

    8. You're right on your math, satyrsmoon, but I think your ratio is backwards.
      Their word problem is twisty.
      The dollar is dropping against KRW.
      For each $1 US, you used to get 1100 KRW. But later on, the exchange drops to 1050 KRW per $1, meaning you have to pay more $ to get the same value in KRW.

    9. From 1 USD == 1100 KRW ::
      Now 1 USD == 1050 KRW
      Means USD value drops, thus more USD to convert to KRW == USD price increase.

      Hope my explanation is clear.

    10. I think Iplehouse should be cautious about raising their prices based on a temporary drop in the exchange rate, because according to their logic shouldn't we pay less on days where the US dollar is worth more than their KRW. Out of curiosity I googled XE.com a currency converter and this is what I got below. Apparently today the dollar is worth 1,143.95

      Currency Rates Live rates at 2010.05.12 11:53:09 UTC 1.00 USD=1,143.95 KRW[IMG]United States Dollars South Korea Won 1 USD = 1,143.95 KRW 1 KRW = 0.000874165 USD

    11. Around a year ago they dropped their prices because of the temporary changes in exchange rate - nobody complained then. I think they have every right to raise their prices back to the original if they are starting to get a loss because of it. They aren't adjusting prices based on short term changes - they work based on long term tendencies.

    12. Hey there! Just a friendly reminder, while all of the foregoing is really good stuff (especially the math part ;) ), please continue chatting and speculating by starting a new thread in the News/Event Chat subforum.
      Thanks!
