Is your doll stinky???

Forgive me please, I know this is serious stuff, but I had to laugh! :LOL:

Actually that's one of my newbie fears...will the resin have a strong smell? I'm very sensitive to smells and get sick from them if they're strong...so will I have a couple of stinky boys on the way???

I know that if you spill beer on doll clothes and don't wash it right away it can keep the sweet aroma awhile *uhg PLEASE don't ask me to elaborate on that one*

Also if you keep a book with acrylic nail supplies the book will definitely keep that stinky-perm hair chemical acrylic smell too...ugh!

Has anybody noticed a smell with their dolls, even a new-doll smell...and what would it smell like or how strong would it be?

 

LOL--I have to say I've never noticed a smell. I think the only thing that's ever smelled with my dolls has either been a new wig, a pair of shoes that smelt like burnt leather one time (yuk--took them off), or maybe the scent of MSC if it's been sprayed recently--but no, dolls don't smell--unless you spilt milk on them or something :P

 

The inside of Luts dolls' heads smell GREAT! X3 I love popping Rooster's headcap off to have a sniff of his head.. XD Or I might be changing his clothes, and get the urge to smell his elbows, LOL! New-doll smell is great. But don't worry, it's not very noticable unless you actually stick your nose against an open joint etc.

 

When I got Rook's body, the smell reminded me of a hobby store...like Hobby Lobby...like some kind of paint or glue or something. XD It's not that strong though and has faded already and I've only had him for about 2 weeks.

New resin does have a slight smell but nothing like the strength of new vinyl which I have to admit I loved. There was just something about opening a box for the first time & all that lucious, untouched oder wafting out. (Ok, I'm strange, I love the scent of new fabric too.)

That said, I don't wash my doll's clothes but then they tend to get changed fairly frequently. If they get storage smells I just spritz them with Fabreeze.

 

My new Petsha smells like drying nailpolish or freshly sprayed MSC. I'm hoping the smell will go away at some point. She's less than a week old.

I wish she'd smell like vanilla like my daughter's doll

ah i got a headache from the resin smell xD i was so happy i thought my head was going to explode :p

anyways, sometimes they smell like grass if they've been playing in the grass,
or smoke if somebody had been smoking (not me though^^)
their clothes have to be washed from time to time else it'll get all dirty

 

I store my girls clothes in a box that also holds incense. It doesn't come in actual contact with the fabric, but it makes the clothes smell woddy and earthy.
And DD smell like vinyl... which has a sort of nostalgia for me. It reminds me of my old baby dolls and cabbage patch kids.

 

I have to admit that I like the cp resin smell as well. I first noticed it when I was trying to sand off a tiny scratch on Dash's wrist. I don't think its the kind of thing one should be sniffing though...kind of like how I enjoy the smell of gasoline.

 

When I got my MNF Shiwoo from another DoA member, he smelled really STRONG!!
None of my other dolls has ever smelled lile that, but then again, the poor boy was inside a box for 15 days or so. So the resin smell was really really strong!

I just left him outside, wearing shorts and a short sleeved t-shirt and the smell was gone in a couple of days.

And since once they're out of the boxes, none of my dolls ever go back to one, no one has smelled like that again ^^

 

...Ok, now you know this is going to be the FIRST THING I do when I get home from work today, right?

 

Whenever I open Grendel's headcap I asways get a strong whiff of resin and eyeputty. but thats it, and like I said, its only when I open his headcap. Other then that, he smells fine.

 

Truth be told, I'm actually fond of the resin smell (MMMM FRESH DOLLFIEEE) but uh. We all know that's not too good for you xD

Overall I wash the boys' clothes, even if I don't smell any kind of displeasing odor. x]

 

My only dolls that smell like anything are my Yuri and Syo-SD, I guess because they are UV protect Pureskin, but I mostly only notice it in their boxes now. My normal Pureskin dolls don't smell like anything and if oldskin did have a scent then it's long worn off since my F-27 is fairly old.

 

Ophelia's trousers once were washed because they were dirty.
Then she smelled for a while very fresh.
But beside that, I never spray her or something.
I don't smell her that much, you know xD

 

Mykal, Matthew, and Arachne have never smelled like anything really LOL One time i had a wig that had somehow gotten damp in my closet, and it was musty FOREVER..(had to wash it like 5 TIMES), But never a doll LOL
