1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Jie Doll?

Jul 21, 2011

    1. Are Jie Dolls allowed on Den of Angels? They are from Angelic Dreamz, and are like the JamieShow dolls. They are so cheap and adorable. O_O Does anyone know anything about them?

    2. I've never heard of them before, but the list of off-topic dolls can be found here.

    3. I have a Jie Brice Doll and I just love him!!

    4. You might want to post this question in the question for the moderators thread and this may not have been adressed yet.

    5. I think their affordability is due to the 50% off sale they're having. Sounds a bit too good to be true if you ask me. :sweat But check to see if they've got some sort of means of feedback. If they're made of resin, I don't see why they can't count. :)

    6. My first concern seeing their prices is that these may possibly be bootlegged- sculpts by other companies altered slightly and then mass resold as original pieces for low prices. It has happened before.

    7. I'll be watching this topic like a hawk (inb4 lock). ;)

    8. I do not consider them terribly favorably priced. If you take away the 50% off, their price is quite average.

    9. Quite a few of the posters in the Chicline threads have bought their clothes, and I've seen some of their OT dolls (a couple of their fashion-type lines have sculted rather than glass eyes) on the doll blogs of a couple of people who also post here, so they do seem to have a fairly solid business reputation. That doesn't help with the on/off topic status though, of course!

    10. They are not made by Angel dreamz, they are just their english dealer. They did have a chinese web site up at http://www.jie-doll.com/ but it seems to be down (I have no idea for how long it's been that way).

If I recall correctly when I visited their website last year they had a couple of sculpts of sale that did not seem to be available on the Angelic Dreamz website. It did appear that without the 50% reduction, angelic dreamz was selling them for a large markup compared to the chinese prices. Apart from that not much more stood out, they seem to have a similar style to AOD and some other chinese companies.

    11. I am just wondering...is it me or does the resin look strange? Can any of the owners comment? It has a soft waxy transparent look in the photos? Is it really resin?

    12. I see what you mean. At first glance, it sort of reminded me of BBB resin (due to the shine) but the shine looks too... soft - like a sort of waxy look. Sort of plastic-like I'm not particularly fond of the sculpts, either. The heads have this weird look, and I'm not sold.

The clothes I like a lot, though.

    13. According to the site it's Environmental Resin, the same kind of resin Ringdoll and B&G use as well, maybe a different type, it's between urethane and french resin. Personally I don't like the look of it that much.

    14. I have a 60cm Jie-doll girl and love her. I got the one that came dressed in the tennis outfit. In person she does not have any shine. I am new at BJD so I can't compare her to alot of dolls. I have a Dollmore Female Model and am much happier with the Jie. The model is very hard to get to hold a pose, her lower legs are always going the wrong way. My Jie stays exactly as I pose her. The Jie also came with incredible body blushing, she looks so real.

    15. Just covering this first question: I checked with the Mods since I couldn't find an answer anywhere and they are on topic for DoA.

    16. Hmm..The resin looks very strange to me! It looks really cheap and plasticy. Not really likeing the sculpts either. But I guess they are on topic since they are made out of resin (?) , and have ball-joints. Not really my cup of tea though...

    17. The resin discussed on the site is PVC, not polyurethane, so I think not. (For comparison, Barbies and Obitsus use different types of PVC. So do plastic pipes used in plumbing).

    18. The Jie Doll or Anime Doll's sold on the Angelic Dreamz web site are a new doll in theJamieShow Doll line. The resin fashion doll's were made first and are very popular especially the body. People are buying the body and using it with different doll heads. The Jie Doll's are the BJD dolls from that line and are pretty new to the market. They are resin and have all the same joints and BJD's. Like every BJD they have a certain look that makes them unique. It is a matter of opinion no different than say me choosing a Angel of Dream Doll over a B&G Doll. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

    19. Here is a quick photo of my JIE-Doll. Her Resin is beautiful and not waxy at all.[IMG]
