LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. First of all, I want to say that I USED to like LUTS a LOT! Luts was my MOST favourite bjd company, and I really appreciate them for giving birth to my S (luts EL), who will stay with me for all my life.

Then, sorry about my poor English. I'll try my best to explain clearly.

Actually my friend and I have forgiven luts for so many times, but this time, I think I need to say something about the company's resin quality and customer service. I used to like luts, but I've got enough suffering!

Now I'm telling you all the facts, but will leave the judgement to yourselves.

      Please see two photos first:

It is the calf part of luts MINIFEE ELF-SHUSHU (LIMITED EDITION).
When I get the girl, I took her out for a look and kept her inside the box for two months to make sure she's safe enough before giving her a faceup. Here's nobody in my dorm so I'm sure that she stayed untouched until I opened her box again.
But when I took her out of the box, I saw the broken part.
I didn't even touch the doll before I took the photos. I post on LUTS' site for help, here's their reply:

I bought so many dolls from luts, and used to support them a lot, but what I got in turn is a self-broken calf part, maybe also their suspicion that I might tell a lie and break the doll myself?
But I really don't know WHAT method I can use to hurt the girl THAT MUCH. Even if I had dropped her down the stairs, it would break other parts, not the ankles! The only way I know to make such crack in such area is to cut the doll with a knife, but I'm sure that I know exactly from the beginning to the end that it is a 300+USD doll, not a cake.

But anyway, I didn't check her ankles when she first arrived, it is my own fault. I really want to cure the girl as soon as possible, and from my previous experience, when things like this happens, there's NO USE arguing with luts. So I paid for the calf parts by myself(44 USD), even though in my opinion, 2 months is NOT a long time for a resin doll at all, especially when the doll costs hundres of dollars.

But, maybe 2 months is a such a long time for a POOR-QUALITY doll?
Here, I want to show a picture about the inside of the luts' calf part, with some comparision photos I took from my other babies
      S -- Unidoll Jace Body
      Amethyia -- Musedoll Erato
      Iphernel -- Bambicrony BW Kumi

I don't want to add my personal comments, since I'm directly involved. But now I really want to ask : Did I buy a 400 USD doll from luts, or a bone that nibbled by a dog?
Actually, to me, the second one sounds much more reasonable.

How the uneven and thin part break? I have no idea. The only thing I know is that it IS broken without touching.
Although luts thought I was telling a lie, it is still the truth.

I posted the whole thing here is not to complain or argue about something. So please don't post "LUTS is totally fair to you" or " You should check the doll carefully from head to ankels" in this thread, since I know it was my fault that I didn't check the doll carefully enough.
But if the doll broke by herself when she's in the box, what could I do? From the picture provided, I think it is MORE than possible.

I won't post anything here if luts dolls are like Volks' or other companies', having even and smooth inside and can balance the pressure by itself. But the fact is, when facing their defective product, luts still asked customers to take all the responsibility.

I told the story just want to let you know how luts' quality are like nowadays.
The luts dolls can break even by themselves, and if it happens 7 days ( as indicated on LUTS' site) after they shipped (or you get?) the doll, it is your responsibility.

      ===========================================================================

The photos below are from my friends.
All of us used to love luts, since our most precious babies are all from this company.
But now, luts gave us no choice.

      [Part 1]

These photos shows the chaps on an BW EL's skin.
Actually the doll's situation is EXACTLY the same as my S (not only my S, but a LOT of els) . I found those chaps only 2 months after S got home, and finally I sold S's body because the chaps spread from time to time and I couldn't suffer S's tough skin anymore.

My friend sent the doll back to luts, but luts said that IT HAS NOTHING WRONG, ALL THEIR DOLLS ARE LIKE THIS.
And when my friend got disappoined and asked luts to ship the boy back home, luts SANDED the whole doll and WRAPPED all of the chaps.
I just cannot understand -- if they thought it was the right quality, why they did the sanding?

      [Part II]

Here is another EL, bought in July 2007, and broke only 21 days after he got home.

      [Part III]

      The broken skull part.
It was found as soon as the boy got home and sent back to luts and change for free. But luts spent almost more than one month to make a new one.

      =====================

I don't know what luts use to produce dolls and why luts treat their customers like this.
The only thing I know is we were deeply worried at our babies and we were suffering luts' "perfect" customer service. And those were not pleasure experinces at all.

LUTS, I really love your dolls, but how can I trust you again?

    2. I don't think you're the only one who's experienced difficulties. on the whole I've never had a problem with them, however my friend has had a lot of difficulty with faceups (which luts eventually did say they'd give her a BW Nanuri head with Dreaming Shiwoo faceup because of the horrid job they did on her Bliss, but they messed that up as well somehow :()

It really seems hit or miss with them lately - I've seen perfect dolls and awesome quality and then now and again it looks like their QC team decided to go on coffee break and let the janitor take over for a few hours....

I'm not sure what their Customer Service is like since I haven't really had to use it, I do know though that you can get repair parts rather than the whole doll (like just the leg for your ShuShu) as someone else had gotten that done before

    3. For the Shushu, I can understand why Luts would ask you to pay for the part. It was 2 months after you had purchased her. If it had been immedeately, then things might have been different.

I see the same thing from people with Volks dolls- they are happy to replace the part, but you need to pay for it if it did not arrive broken since they cannot know how it was broken. :daisy

    4. Luts said they are not responsible for the broken parts 7 days after the doll has been shipped
It means that all of the later problems, no matter caused by what, are not their responsibility.

    5. Yes, I will pay happily if the inside of the calf is not like a bone nibbled by a dog.
I think the key thing here is their good's quality : )
It means that if you buy a luts doll, you have to face bad-resin risk for all of your life, at least the doll's life.

    6. I can see where Luts is coming from here - two months is a long time to hold onto a doll without noticing it's broken. Luts does seem to be having some quality issues recently, but that should be only more incentive to make sure your doll's in good shape right when you get him/her.

Nevertheless, I really hope you work things out with Luts. Seeing broken parts like that makes me sad. ^^ Good luck with your Shushu.

    7. Thank you, the new parts are here.

But sorry, I don't think the customers should pay for luts' mistakes.
Please look at the inside of the calf part. I felt unbelievable when I see the tough and uneven work. The unbalanced pressure will damage the thin resin area easily.
I'll pay without anyword when their dolls are of good quality.

    8. Well this has me nervous. xD;... I was hoping to get a Senior Delf soon, and my friend a Kid Delf... but if it ends up like that....

    9. I'm sorry to hear this!

My 1st el has the same problem as your friend (but I adopted him so I don't know if he was like that already when he is new or not) None of my other Cp has this problem except him.

    10. It's sad to see pictures like these. :'( I've never purchased a doll or a head directly from luts, only second hand, but I'm actually quite fond of their dolls too. But I will surely have second thought buying any doll from them now Oô

Sure, you should have checked the doll at the arrival, but then again, 2 months isn't a long time. And looking at the inside of the leg it should be obvious that it couldn't be your doing Oô Of course you shouldn't pay for their mistakes!

I think it can be hard to check if your doll's damaged only 7 days after shipping. I know that in Denmark, packages may lie for a week or longer to be checked. How can you see if every thing's all right then? Oô

    11. >.< i m so sorry for u! But u should check every package at the arrive...

    12. WOw... that's shocking to hear.. how disappointing.. and i'm sorry about your baby. man.. makes me nervous as welll. and i Wanted to order BORY from them

    13. This has me very worried about my MNF Lishe...certainly damage like this is the exception rather than the rule. I would be heartbroken if I found that my doll has a broken part or some other kind of damage that shouldn't happen through normal play.

Makes me want to set her on a shelf and not play with her at all :(

    14. I can't find any chaps on my Luts dolls, and I have 4 of them. So I don't think it's normal... Internal cracks like that are usually caused by extreme temperature or humidity changes like all plastic materials.

    15. where was the box kept? near a window, a radiator? A cold room? Not saying they were but it would rule out one thing.

    16. Far away from the window
      No sunlight
      Not dry at all
Constant temperature ( about 25 degree centigrade )

    17. The problem is that all of the dolls are well-cared and ONLY luts dolls have these chaps. : )
They are too tiny to be noticed sometimes.

    18. hmmm, well it rules that out. Was it there when you first got the doll? Was he checked over fully before you put him away?

I have never heard any of this about LUTS before and it is worrying as we are about to order a LUTS doll...

    19. I don't know. I didn't check the ankles when I first got her.
Anyway, if I have to check from the head to the very ankle when I first get a NEW doll from the original company, and need to keep doing the checking eveyday, I prefer not buying them at all.

    20. good point. hmmm I always give them a full once over, My voks nono had a knee cracjand they sent a new one straight away- I wonder if they would have id I had left it 2 months, maybe they wouldn't.

It pays to be watchful, but yours is a sad, sad story.
