1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Mint on Card using stolen photo?

Apr 20, 2014

    1. *UPDATE: Mint on Card removed the photo now*

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I wanted to bring this to the attention of the BJD community.

Saaya on DeviantArt (http://applejazz.deviantart.com/) is reporting that a photo is being used by Mint on Card without permission.

Here is the Journal on DeviantArt written about this situation: http://www.deviantart.com/journal/Mint-on-Card-had-stole-my-photo-448744645

Here is the photo with cropped out copyright logo on Mint on Card's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mintoncard...32077868151/10152131519098152/?type=1&theater

Can anyone help this person, because they seem to be at a loss about what to do about this copyright infringement.

      Thanks

    2. Hi~ It was sort of sorted but not really. Mint on Card has blocked me from posting and sending messages to them. They did remove the image but only after I threatened contacting Ringdoll and starting a copyright claim.

Not the best attitude from a company. Shameful.

    3. What an incredibly stupid move for such a reputable company. While part of me hopes it was some new employee that didn't know any better, MoC's response to Saaya-chan is very unsettling. At this point, the best they can do is a public apology.

    4. Right?! I don't understand why they didn't. I simply asked them to remove the image (that they cropped to get rid of my watermark D: shocking!). Instead of simply say 'i'm sorry, we will take down' in which case I would not go on telling the world about it, they went and did what they did. :/

I still don't understand. I hope it was a noob dealing with their FB.

    5. I hope MOC clears things up and offers an apology.

Sadly, many people automatically get defensive when they are caught doing something wrong (by mistake or otherwise). All the time some crazy driver doing something wrong will get angry and honk and give the finger instead of being ashamed and trying to driving better! It is very hard to admit to doing something wrong and just apologizing for many people.

--So we will see if someone acts like a sensible person and makes an apology! It is the right thing to do. Even if there was a mistake, they need to apologize. Even if someone who didn't know any better put up the photo and then blocked people who commented about it... An apology is still important.

It doesn't even cost anyone anything to apologize. That is the sad thing! People still would rather get defensive than apologize! *_*

    6. I don't understand why they'd block you? I haven't had a bad experience with them yet but that's just stupid. If they had just asked, I know you'd likely tell them yes but to credit you. I'm ashamed of their actions.

    7. I'm new to the hobby, and I was considering asking a family member to take me up there for my birthday. This disgusts me. I'm so ashamed that there are art thieves right in my backyard. :/

    8. I'm new to the hobby and was looking at MoC for dolls....but hearing about this (being an artist and all) kind of makes me not want to shop there :/

    9. Firstly...welcome to the hobby! Secondly...

I don't understand why MoC would risk pissing off customers and potential customers for something so petty. People in the BJD community stick together and don't tolerate this kind of shit. I've ordered from them several times, and have had excellent customer service when sending them inquiries. If they would just admit they made a mistake I would feel a lot better.

    10. Thank you! Everyone I've talked to here has been amazing :)

I agree, the best thing they could do is just apologize.

    11. I can't imagine that MoC would intentionally up and steal someone's photo and even less-so that they remove the copyright information (that's all awfully Machiavellian, isn't it?). I trust that they did their due diligence as much as they were able and anything beyond that is an unfortunate misunderstanding. They still have my support.

    12. This is really interesting considering they're one of the companies that has taken a pretty firm stance on copyright theft and recast dolls. I was like huh? They're the last company I'd have expected this from.

    13. Exactly! That's why I'm so sure this wasn't their fault/an unfortunate mistake with no malicious intent. There has to be more to it than the very one-sided story we've heard from Saaya (which is not an aspersion against Saaya, as it's possible they may not know the entire story either). It doesn't make sense otherwise.

    14. But why block Saaya who wanted it removed or credited? That doesn't make sense either!

    15. They're probably wary of having a repeat of the public crap-storm that happened after their ill-worded recast notice. Not that Saaya would start something.... but people jumping on a band wagon and making the situation worse. Better to put a lid on it before it starts. She can still communicate with them privately via email, but then situation has been more or less resolved.

It would be nice if they would tell their side... But if they haven't by now, I'm sure there's a good reason that they're taking the hard road.

    16. Saaya, any more word from them? Did they apologize or at least unblock you?

I'm not so sure I want to buy from them again if that is how they react. Who's to say they wouldn't block someone trying to contact them about a customer service issue?

    17. This is an interesting case... I say this because of the way it was handled and the reactions it's getting. I kind of want to throw my opinion out there, but please understand I'm not taking sides.
MoC should own up on what they did. If it was a mistake or a noob worker's doing, then they need to say so, at lest to the person they stole from if not the public. The bad part for them is because they didn't own up, word is getting around that they are in the wrong without knowing the whole story. I am curious about why they did it.
For those who are no longer buying Moc because of this, why? Did you think they would handle every bad situation with grace? We all make bad calls and we all don't exactly handle situations in the best way possible. Or is it like what Zardi said. You're scared that they handle other situations that involve purchases poorly. Honestly, I will continue to do business with them until they wrong me. I don't think they ever will (when it comes to orders) because the first person they do it to will most likely spread the word faster then a wild fire during a drought. I guess it doesn't hurt to be weary though.
I'm sorry Moc handled this so poorly. I'm glad they took the picture down. I'm sorry that some of you lost your faith in them.
I just wish the situation turned out better:(

    18. Hi, We're going to close this thread as the offending image has been removed, the issue resolved and little more can be added to the discussion at this time except speculation.
