1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Most unique/creative doll?

Dec 10, 2011

    1. What is the most unique or creative doll you've ever seen, whether it be the actual doll design/customization/mod, or just outfit/faceup design?

    2. Do you mean most creative thing an owner or customizer has done to their doll? Or most creative from a company? There really are too many dolls I can think of to fit either category, the hobby is all about creativity and bringing ideas to life. I don't know how I could ever narrow it down to one "Most" unique doll.

I guess it could be like, what's the most creative or unique doll has taken my fancy today. I am sure there would be a new one every time I look at dolls.

    3. This is going to become a very ugly popularity contest real fast... I realize it wasn't asked that way but that's what will happen, if I know human nature- Whoever does not get their doll mentioned here is gonna be offended/hurt/angsty.

    4. myeah I have to agree with you. this thread will create the world war III XD;;;;

but I am also curious to know whether you meant owner's dolls or the company's?

    5. Every single doll I see nowadays is unique and creative in their own special way.. In general, I don't think dolls can be compared to each other very well in terms of customization, etc. They all have differences, either good or bad. :)

    6. I think this is a thread that is all about Opinion. I think most collectors would say they think their own dolls are the best dolls, otherwise they wouldn't own them - they'd own some other doll. I don't think it hurts to say you think X doll is terribly clever, creative, inventive, whatever. You just can't argue that one is "the best".

For example at this very moment I think Souldoll's new Souloids are absolutely the bees knees. Are they the most unique or creative ever, up to the eye of the beholder. For a customizer's piece of work, the crack-line-painted AiL Alice by SDink (but owned by another member) is a very unique and creation.

The fact that I did not create either of these dolls or own them in no way diminishes my dolls or how I feel about them. ^___^

    7. I know it belongs to someone on this forum, but I saw a picture of a doll that was extremely colorful. The part I really liked was the hair; half of it was short, the other half was longer. It had what I think had been a checkerboard pattern on the shorter side, and other colors on the other.

I don't remember whose doll it was, though. I'm not sure it'll turn into a popularity contest right away, though. Maybe if we purposely leave out actual owner names, it might work out?

    8. I'm thinking Doll-Chateau has been creating some very different and unique styles of dolls and outfits. It's interesting seeing companies like that really take a chance on very unusual designs and run with it.

I love the more typical bjds, don't get me wrong! And I do think everyone's dolls are unique because they style them individually because they get to choose specific looks, etc. I don't think this subject necessarily has to be polarizing. Opinions are OK to have, as long as you aren't personally bashing someone and we can discuss styles of dolls politely...

"Most Unique" should not be something that has to be judgmental (as in "Most Unique" = "Best"). I don't think uniqueness makes anything "better." For instance: Something can be the only one in the world, but if I'm not into it, I could care less! :)

    9. My favourite doll in terms of customizations/ characterizations etc. would be Mr. Have. :D

In terms of sculpts, I think Doll Chateau's dolls are quite outside of the box in a unique and creative way.

    10. Doll Chateau and Dollzone both are coming out with some really innovative stuff right now. I am really in love with DC dolls, and DZs flower fairies...I have no words. They're just incredible.

    11. I'm gonna stay pretty neutral on this, since I also think it will become a huge argument.

Company: Doll Chateau, I'm not even a fan of them, but I still think they are really really really unique. Most other companies look very similar. And Souldoll's more special dolls like Souloids or Tarots.

Mod: There was once a mod where someone made the doll into a steampunk robot type thing, and you could see the strings and they put on gears and stuff. Still, not a fan of steampunk, but they put so much work into it, and it was very creative.

Customization: People who do crazy make up and tattoos are really unique. Though big windy and curly tattoos are actually really typical and have been done lots of times, but I like it when it looks like the doll actually put on their own make up that morning and there are lots of crazy colors. That or fantasy make up.

    12. it's all a matter of taste really !
I love the DIY doll you can find a lot of these days. Simply because every doll -artist has it's own definition of beauty.
I love it when they have this very unique body shape. Like super long limbs or really wide hips.
but then again, a very ' average ' body shaped doll can still have the most unique outfit, character design, background or face up.

So, I can't really name just one doll. nor two or three....
Because every day I see tons of unique dolls when surfing the internet !

but, I guess I love it the MOST when they use creative materials to make or mod their doll.
Like partly porcelain-resin or metal-porcelain dolls I find very fascinating... Once saw a doll who's hands and feet were carved out of wood, it was gorgeous!

    13. Totally agreeing here. I was just looking at Doll Chateau and telling my fiance how much their 'strange' dolls please me.

    14. agree! agree!
doll chateau are not really my style but they do come up with really strange unique stuff. their four legged girl is really cool!
and dollzone flower fairies are love <3

I can't really give any more ideas since the only companies I follow lately are iplehous and soom :sweat (and even when I used to know 2044829 companies, I was pretty much only interested by human dolls)
