Most Unique/Interesting Doll You've Ever Seen?

Sep 4, 2014

    1. I attend quite a few meet-ups, and as a result, I've seem some really neat dolls!

For example, I saw both the biggest doll I'd ever seen and the smallest doll I'd ever seen in the same meet-up. I saw a tiny DreamHigh Studio 5cm and a doll that was the size and proportion of a child. It must have weighed forty pounds.

I once saw a cute zombie doll, complete with scar mods. One of the members of my local group has this lovely male doll that looks amazing no matter what she puts him in- cute girly wigs, manly clothes, posing with kids, etc...

And probably the most unique doll was a rainbow themed doll. He was sort of wearing rave-wear, and had a rainbow wig, rainbow jewelry, rainbow goggles, rainbow shoes, and just about everything was colorful!

So, let's hear about those cool dolls!

    2. I've definitely seen some pretty interesting dolls over time. I've always thought that Doll Chateau dolls were interesting-looking, but in a good way! The bodies are very obscure and their faces look sad, yet I find a certain beauty to them. :)

Ringdoll has also had some interesting ones, particularly their zombie Sol. That's the first time I've seen a zombie doll. He's so cool-looking! Frankenstein is also one I find intriguing.

Speaking of zombies and such, I've seen people make dolls out of many different parts, each a different color of resin. Those are always cute and fun to look at!

However, the most interesting dolls I have seen are from angel battle. They're all skeletons! As much as they are interesting, I don't think I will ever own one.

    3. I haven't seen a whole lot of dolls as I'm new to the hobby.
My friend is making her own doll, and it's very unique. It's not really my place to talk about it, but I've only really seen "normal" dolls so hers is pretty cool.
Same friend also did her doll up for a steampunk meet and it looked really good. A nice full dress, and if I remember correctly, her face was half painted so she looked half cyborg and she used little gems in places to look like screws.

    4. The mis-matched bits and pieces dolls sound cool, as does that lovely steampunk cyborg. I think the amazing creativity and diversity in this hobby is really cool.

    5. Doll Chateau definitely has the most unique dolls in my opinion. But I think the most interesting doll for me would be DollShe's Ausley Love. I am just fascinated with her.

    6. Dollzone Moment / Anson. These dolls never look bad and they are so detailed. I also like that they are plant humans instead of animal humans. I absolutely adore them, but I couldn't own one, unless it is a second hand finished one, because I just don't have the skill to bring out their full potential. My favorite Dollzone Moment is Lady Ravenwood's Freyr and my favorite Dollzone Anson is PoeticSoul's Bohemia Rose.

Doll Chateau Elizabeth's spider body is also lovely sculpted. The legs are so elegant! I love this mod by Kao Chanita.

Xagadoll has the best looking knee joints.

      Individual dolls:
Julia's Aileen Doll Ashes, named Ruby.
Vincent's Dollshe Saint as Lord Voldemort.
      Implish LTF Ante Nymrah.

      Personal favorites:
      Resinlings Fable
      Soft Poison Candy
      Rooziej Isamu & Haru
      Velvetbat Yelena & Skittles
      Indigoparaphlax Constantin

    7. Seconding Doll Chateau and also especially Elizabeth. She looks so otherworldly and beautiful, and I think the company did a wonderful job with her sculpt.

Notdoll is no longer an existing company, but for a while I was really fond of their Bleu Citron, who has a...quirky expression, to say the least.

    8. Marmite Sue's Angel Egg dolls are my favorite unique dolls. http://shopmenagerie.wordpress.com/ The amount of detail in all the lacework is just amazing! I also really like Enaibi and Mewie Fish's dolls. There seems to be a lot of creative, unique dolls coming out of Europe these days.

    9. For me, it must be Aileendoll Cyclop : Cedric and Camellia. One of friends who I know from doll meet here has bought Cedric to our meet twice and it was my first time to see a mini cyclop BJD. I did take many photos because he was quite unique and with his face up from my favorite artist (Masayoshi)...He looks really awesome! :love

    10. I agree about the Enaibi dolls, they are really cool and unique.

I think I should also mention the Dollzone 2013 event dolls and the mermaids I've been seeing lately. I also saw some pictures of Siamese twin dolls and even a Cyclops.

    11. I am crazy about Doll Chateau's dolls and I love Christina but also Barbara, the one that has petals on her head and is painted to look like a venetian mask? I have a burning desire to own these dolls :D. I have also seen a tiny BJD doll that is made by a Russian artist on Etsy - she is about 8 inches tall but the perfect adult and very poseable. I would love to own one of her dolls too and just fit it into my pocket. I would post a pic but not sure we can talk about these types of dolls? This time next year, I'm going to own one of my Doll Chateau dream dolls!

    12. Um, OK, just looked at the Angel egg site and now I REALLY want one of those dolls! MY list is just getting longer......

    13. Doll Chateau Barbara! As soon as I saw her, I basically ordered her because of how unique and interesting she is. As for other dolls I really find VampireAngel's "Alex" to be extremely unique and such a wonderful character. I could pick him out in a line-up no problem.

    14. Most of Harlequin-Elle's dolls are pretty unique. Selkie, Topaz, and Felix are probably my favorites. Look on Deviant Art for pictures.
      Agreements with previous comments-
Dollzone's Moment and Anson are an unusual design, and Lady Ravenwood's customization of Moment is glorious.
Doll Chateau makes some distinctive heads. I'm partial to Colin and Bella myself.
Angel Battle Skeletons are like nothing else I've seen out there. Their newest smaller ones are especially charming in a delightfully creepy way.

    15. I've seen the Angel Battle Skeletons! They are cute yet creepy, and I love how the shoulder blades attach to the back with putty.

I'm going to a meet tomorrow, so hopefully, I'll see some more unique cuties and have pictures!

    16. I just checked out the Angel Battle skeletons..does anyone own one? I'd love to see photos..they are certainly creepy but cute!

    17. DD-Anne's eight-armed, bat-eared, three-eyed Lotus Near series is still one of the farthest-out dolls I've ever seen... I am happy to have two of the little weirdoes here in the house.

Dollzone's Anson & Moment plant-people are also a unique vision in resin.

Ringdoll's fabulously gorgeous gore-guys (Baron, Frankenstein, Zombie Sol) are impossible to mistake for anybody else at a crowded party.

    18. There are so many! I mean, most people are so creative with their dolls that nearly every one of them is unique and wonderful. I've seen siamese dolls and beautifully modded dolls of all kinds--and many just wonderfully dressed and styled.

Sculpts have been incredible, too. Dollzone's Anson and Moment, as others have mentioned, are still stand-outs. Doll-Chateau has been pushing the boundaries, although it's hard to really compete these days when there are so many art- and boutique bjds. Mewiefish. Circus Kane. and--who makes that Sphinx-cat-girl? Just incredible sculpts!

I've got pretty mainstream tastes, but the odd-ball dolls are fun. I have a D-C Alberta (the idea of 4 human feet and moose-ear-antlers was just too much not to have!). And Ringdoll Frankenstein ver. 1 (beautiful monster!). Mushroom Peddler Willow (off-topic, I think). But none of them are THAT unusual these days, I think.

    19. I pretty much agree with anyone that has said Doll Chateau. At first I found them too weird but over time and seeing so many people posting pictures of theirs, I started to see their beauty and wanna get one myself one day. Though I guess Dollzone also fits in here with their Ivy and Iris girls, along with most of their limited edition dolls they've made.

    20. I think Doll Chateau dolls are very unique.
5th Motif Venitu is, maybe. His hands.
