1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

MSD/MNF commercial patterns (probably been asked before)

Aug 8, 2006

    1. Hello!

I've spent about the past hour looking through the forums, DOA Groups and the web for this information but have had little luck. I was wondering if anyone out there know which commercial doll clothing patterns can be altered to fit MSD and MNF. I know, once uponm a time, this information was readily avaialble in regards to SD and MSD, but I am having no luck finding it.

      Thanks for the help!

    2. the only pattern I know of us http://www.simpledreamsdolls.com/skirtutorial/tutorial.html
:) You could try to modify/enlarge 1:6 scale patterns, although that might be a challenge! Step in graph paper, patience and a lot of sewing and resewing to make sure you've got it right and it doesn't sit funny! :daisy

    3. I don't know of any store-bought doll patterns that might work if that's what you're asking, but there are quite a few MSD patterns at: http://trimline.addr.com/undead/index.htm . I've resized a few of them to fit my Tae and it's not too difficult :) Resizing any patterns you can find for 18 in./ American Girl dolls would probably work, too, and I've seen tons of those at fabric stores.
(Edited to fix my link! ^_^; )

    4. This might be a stupid question, but would 18" Tonner patterns work for the slim dolls? I know someone posted that the Harry Potter Tonner clothes fit, so by extension... Or maybe I'm just clueless; I've never owned a fashion doll.

    5. i don't have any, but i'm pretty sure the guy's clothes fit the minifee which have slimmer bodies.

    6. The Tonner female body is a 'fashion doll' type, with a tiny waist. ><
If you are good at fitting, the darts or seams could be tweaked to fit the generally larger-waisted bjds, but not in your limited good fabric. ;)
Perhaps someone who has sewn Tonner patterns for Serendipity or MNF girls, maybe the Unoa girls? will speak up here.

The Tonner boy clothes may be a smidge too big through the body, and the cuffs are likely to be a bit small on dress shirts to fit around bjd wrists. I own Tonner-made outfits for several of my boys and they fit more or less--better on DoD Too and Unoa L-bi, less well on OD Tae (leg length perfect, otherwise too big a bit).

Whether you like them depends on how concerned you are with good fit.

    7. Thank you everyone!

I'm glad to see people are still so helpful after all these years, it's been awhile since 've frequented the doll community, and I really appreciate it! (I left at a time when things were not so nice...)

I collect the some of the Tonner dolls you are talking about. I have seen a 18" Kitty Collier outfit "Year of the Dragon" on a unoa Lusis at a bjd meet. I dont know if the owner did any thing to the dress to make it fit. Since I wanted a unoa & I own A few 18" Kitty Collier size doll & outfits, I asked the owner if Kitty Collier clothes would fit her and she said "Yes". I have seen another msd doll in a 18" Miss America dress, but i dont know which one it was.

Tonner 18" Kitty Collier & 18" Miss America have the same body and they both have defined waists. I think the Harry potter dolls are based on this body but i'm not sure.
I dont have one of the harry potter dolls. I have heard that the teen trends clothes fits the Herimonie Granger doll.

If you want I can post (nude?) comparision pics of A 18" Kitty collier & a 16" Tonner Tyler Wentworth and a Teen Trends doll. I also can try some KC outfits on my teen trends doll & post them if you want.

Be carefull if you order the 18" Kitty Collier & 18" Miss America patterns or clothes as Tonner released smaller versions of both dolls. there is a Tiny Kitty (Collier) who is slightly smaller then barbie and a 16" Miss America who is a normal (Tyler Wentworth) tonner fashion doll size.

      Hope this helps.

    9. Here is a commerical pattern site that has MSD, SD13, SD, 18" Kitty Collier, Tyler Wentworth and other patterns. I have never tried them.

      http://affordabledesigns.ca/patterns.html

there is also a DOA free pattern index but I dont have the link, Perhaps someone can post it?

    10. I have successfully put some Gene and some Alex clothing on a Serendipity Sharmin. If it is close to the waist, it will not work, but if it's loose, it looks adorable. :)

    11. i have a lot of success shrinking large human patterns using a copy machine, or you could enlarge the diagram of the pieces on most patterns instruction books (you just have to watch carefully, because darts, gathering points and things like that aren't marked there.)

after shrinking or enlarging, you can make other small adjustments, for example, i resize patterns based on my unoa's bust measurements, but i almost always have to enlarge the hip area some.

    12. I've had a Tonner evening gown on my SDC girl. The snaps didn't close in the back (though as I recall, there was enough fabric, just would have to move the snaps). I believe it was a Tyler dress.
I can post the pictures if you like.

    13. you could also order the unoa freak book(it has patterns)
unoa's and mnf girls are quite similar in size so those patterns would most likely fit

    14. Oh, I have one of the affordable designs patterns and the SD hanbok pattern scaled down well to a slim MSD... (at 75%). Unlike most resized patterns, the cuffs actually fit. The dangui was small in the sleeve, though.
Thank you for your help Chrystika, at least I know that they'll be in the ballpark... patterns can be slightly altered, after all. :)

    15. Than you for these patterns!

    16. www.gracefaerie.com has MSD patterns. Some have to be adapted to fit your particular doll, but they are a good starting point. I have pretty good luck adapting Ellowyne patterns - they work better than Tyler or Gene patterns. Some fit without any adjusting. Magalie Dawson makes some cute ones at www.dolloutfits.com . www.fletcherpatterncompany.com is another source. www.adams-harris.com also has MSD patterns. I have an 18" Kitty Collier - her things are mostly too big for MSD. Some of the things from the Harry Potter line might work - it would be hit or miss. Ellowyne is the closest to MSD proportions.
