It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. My Dolkot has very thin resin, is this normal or a defect?

Sep 12, 2007

    1. Do any of you DolKot owners- especially Leaf owners- have any problems with the knee area- specifically the front knee cover part- being really thin? I just got my DK Leaf in August and I had noticed the knee area is really very thin, and now it looks chipped where I guess the action of bending looks like it chipped/tore it. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone reccomend a way to fix it- would something like apoxie work? I can't find any here in town and if it looks like that's what I will need, I need to know so I can order some somewhere.
      THIS is the area:

    2. My Dark Elf Leaf, v. 1, has not had such a problem.

      I'm sorry you are! :sorry

    3. I don't even know how to tell what version my Leaf is. :sweat

    4. The 'Dark Elf Leaf' was a limited special, and she's been re-released for a second limited run.

Basically, I put that in to show my doll has been here for a while. She's been played with.

Some dolls that are 'mint in box' as different segments of doll collectors might say, might have damage that is unapparent, and my girl isn't that sort.

From what I've read about Apoxie Sculpt, it might well work to help fix your poor doll's knee. Check out the Customization and Artist's Doll sections for more information from people who've actually worked with it.

      Good luck!

    5. I haven't noticed anything like that with my Leaf. I've only had her a bit over a week so she was probably cast around the same time as yours ranmanekineko.

I'll check her when I get home tonight and comment later.

    6. Much appreciated- :)

    7. I have 3 dolkot boys and all their bodies have thin areas like this; the worst I've noticed is around the wrists; it makes restringing a nightmare; I'm always afraid I'm going to chip the resin. :/ It's quite soft resin, also.

    8. I'm sorry to hear about your problem.

I bought a leaf on the secondary market and although the seller packed her incredibly well, she must have had a rough journey and arrived with one of her kneecaps completely broken off.
It wasn't the fault of the seller.

I managed to glue it back on with superglue, but I did notice how thin the resin was in this area compared with that of some of my other dolls.
It seems to be a design fault with these dolls.

I hope you manage to repair your girl. Good luck.

    9. OMY! :o I am sorry to hear about the kneecap! I hope that maybe I can somehow use something to build up and reinforce the thin area before it has a chance to get worse. *_*

    10. Wow, that poor Leaf! :( I'm pretty sure apoxy would help. Try a craft store like Joanne's, or search for Milliput on ebay. Good luck!

    11. I have a problem with my Kiss ... I ordered him directly from English Dolkot website and he arrived about a week ago ... I noticed that in his torso there are EXTREMELY THIN RESIN areas ... I estimate that in this areas, the resin is about ONLY 1 -2 mm ( milimeter ) thick while in other torso regions the resin seems to be about 5 mm ---> 1 cm and '+' thick ...
for those ones who uses inches , here is the counter :
      1 inch = 2,54 cm
      1 cm = 10 mm

These regions are THIS WAY THIN, that they behave like transparent , they allow the darkness of the inside of the doll ... in a result this thin resin areas SHINE LIKE DIRTY, LIKE BLACK ... For the first time, I thought that my Kiss is just dirty ... but he was NOT ... I looked inside his torso and I just died ... because I found the answer why he is 'dirty' ...
This transparent resin 'stains' my doll forever, an it can be noticed in reality ... and such a thin resin ... IT CAN EASILY BE BROKEN !!!

What is more, when I put a lamp or smaller light source on behind of the doll , those thin resin regions allow the light to shine through them - it is seen as more shiny regions of the doll body ...
When I put the small light source ( I used torch / flashlight ) into his arms holes , the thin resin regions SHINE VERY LIGHT - like they are made from thin paper, not from resin ... this is an another proof of HOW THIN is the resin in certain areas of my Kiss body ....

Here is the photo where I painted in RED these extremely thin resin regions :

PLEASE HELP ! ALL DOLKOT BOYS owners - please look at Your dolls and tell me, if those areas of Your doll body have also SO THIN RESIN ? Please use torch / flashlight or lamp to check it in the same way I did - this will help You in estimating the resin thickness !

I'm very worried, because I don't know if my Kiss is the failed one, or maybe such thin resin regions is a typical issue for Dolkot factory ...

    12. Just a day ago, I'm pretty sure someone was talking about Dolkot resin being EXTREMELY thin in the knee regions, to the point it would crack and chip.

      :|

I think thats just how they are made.

      *****
In fact you can find the thread below, about Dolkot Leaf I believe?

    13. yes, I saw this thread ... very annoying ...

and I want to see if other Dolkot boys owners have the same problems with their dolls as I have ...

    14. I've recently been looking at buying Kiss from Dolkot, do you think that the thin resin issue would be enough to maybe think about buying elsewhere? I don't want to buy him if I'd have to handle him with kiddy-gloves...

    15. Dolkot has really nice face molds. :)

I like Kiss and Moon alot, but I've heard enough about the DK bodies that I wouldn't buy a body. I'd buy a head and use a different body personally. One of the people on here had a DK body and she said it was absolutely horrid. D:

    16. Ahhh...and here's yet another one of the threads that has been worrying me. >.< Been wanting to buy Dai from Dolkot for quite some time now, but these types of issues have been worrying me.

However, when I ask around I have been told often that it might just be a bad batch, and it's most likely just one of the issues every company goes through at one time another and future buyers shouldn't assume the worst?

Not sure still how I personally feel, just a...uh..an input. x3
