Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. My First Doll: Minifee or Kid Delf?

Aug 23, 2009

    1. Hi! I'm pretty new to BJDs and DoA, but I've been doing a bunch of research and thinking, and I've decided I want my first doll to be a MSD; they're more reasonably priced for a poor college student like me, and I think I'll like the smaller size better.

My problem: I was sure I wanted a CP LUTS Kid Delf as my first doll, but then I started seeing more Minifees, and now I can't decide! Kid Delf are less expensive, but if I really like the Minifees...

The two dolls I'm looking at right now are the Kid Delf Ani girl and the Minifee Soo girl. I love them both; I suppose I could get both eventually, but for my first I can't decide. Anyone want to help me out? :sweat

    2. It depends on what you're looking for. Minifee is a more mature line, whereas Kid Delfs are more childlike. Kid Delf is not as chunky as some minis, so they can pass as older IMO, but the girls are small-breasted and they tend to have very young-looking faces. If you want your doll to look like a "grown up" then start looking at the Minifees. If you like the soft, young look then stick with Kid Delf.

    3. like cherrykitsune said, it depends on what your character you have planned is like. Are they an older teen/adult? or are they a kid? Minifees are definitely a mature mini, unlike the kid delfs, who, as the name says, are made to look like kids. Personally I would go for the minis because Fairyland has some of the most amazing bodies you will ever see on a doll, both in how wonderful they look, and how amazingly they pose. There's really not many doll bodies that can stand up to them in both the aesthetic and technical fields. Minifees also come in a wonderful variety of not only head molds, but body as well. For boys they have both muscular, and more normal bodies, and for girls, they have the cutie legs and the model legs ( curvy/cute vs. sexy slim). Not to mention that they can come with three different breast sizes, so they are very customizable.
I would recommend you just take a good look at both companies before you make any decisions. the A-line bodies from fairyland really are amazing, and their face molds are as well! Then again, Luts has some cute kids too. In the end, its up to you and what you feel best represents your dolls character!

    4. oh, for minifee, if you want better posing, and to chose the legs/bust size, you have to buy her through a la carte http://www.dollfairyland.com/shop/step1.php?number=361
you can choose the head, and if you want the sleeping head, face-ups, and bust size/legs/hands.

    5. If you are worried about the expense at all, you can put the MiniFees on layaway through a dealer, like Denver Dolls. I know that is always a plus for me.

    6. Thank you, everyone! I think for now I'm going to aim for a MNF. I really love the bodies, and the Shushu head is so lovely! I still love the KDF Ani mold, but I'd rather have a mature mini. Thanks so much for your advice and help! ^^

    7. And the Ani head is a touch larger than the MNF heads, but I've seen many an Ani head put on a minifee body. I believe you have to restring the doll to use a traditional S-hook arrangement rather than the Type2 neck mechanism, though, so that might be something to think about for your next doll. Yes, there's always a next doll, it seems!

    8. Oh, thanks for the comparison, sspearls. ^^ That's a lovely doll, and it DOES resemble the Ani. O.O'

Actually, I've just jumped back on the LUTS ship. ^^; I love the MNF legs, but it looks as though the torso doesn't have a joint in it! I know everyone says how awesome the MNF posing is, but is this true? The don't have a joint in their middle? I think I need that for my character...

    9. The minifee A-lines have a torso joint just under the bust - it's cleverly hidden in a less obvious location. They pose better than any other mini body I've handled. The B-line Minifees don't have that, but the A-lines do.

Look here to see the options for the A-line girls: http://www.dollfairyland.com/shop/step1.php?number=361

    10. the A-lines definitely have a torso joint, they just make it look better than anyone elses, ahaha! XD explore the fairyland site, there are some links over in their "introduction" section that shows off the amazing posability of their dolls!

    11. This only worked with the old Kid Delfs, however, before the resin change. Since the KD were switched to Real Skin, the comparison is AWFUL and wouldn't work unless you don't mind the difference.

    12. Oh, God, the poseability! I never knew! *pats wallet* Don't scream like that, they'll think I'm torturing you.

*sigh* Well, back to Minifees, then. I just can't pass up that beautiful body with that level of manipulation potential. Thanks for corrrecting me, guys!
