1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

New *56 cm tall* Gal on the block from Garden of Dolls

Dec 15, 2004

    1. eh, color me very unimpressed. The smiling one has a very unrealistic smile (it's the stereotypical "smiley face" crescent which is really bizarre on a semi-realistic doll) and the non-smiling one is not memorable at all. Plus their bodies don't look to be anything special; they look undetailed and from the closeup you can tell that she has mitten hands, with no separation at all between the fingers.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but shouldn't any new brand of dolls contribute something interesting and new in terms of face variety, innovation, or body sculpt? This kind of just seems like bandwagon jumping to me.

(okay, descending from soapbox now... >.>;; )

    2. Thanks for the info!

These dolls don't look like they're anything unique or special compared to what's already available, though I think that they're a nice alternative to some higher priced BJD's like SD13's. They're very affordable, and since they're made of the same material that most other BJD's are made of they'll probably be comparable in quality to them as well, if not just slightly lower in quality.

The smiling one is kind of cute though not my cup of tea, and the other one reminds me of the SD13 4 sisters mold, which isn't produced anymore.

    3. I'm cynical with you then, because I agree.. they look like a hybrid of the dolls already out there, and the body doesn't seem to be anything special.

    4. Personally, I think they're pretty cute, like a cross between the Four sisters head and the Lishe mold. With the right paint, I think they could be beautiful dolls. Those are some great full lips!

I also think that it's wonderful that someone else is trying their hand at sculpting and making these wonderful dolls. Most companies' first dolls aren't anything really unique or ground breaking, so give these people a chance! Besides, from the pictures, it doesn't look like their hands are anymore mitten-like than those of some of the Super Dollfies. (If you look closely at some of the pictures, you can tell that the fingers actually are partially separated- I don't think that they were photographed well.) I personally would love to see what this company (or individual) might produce in the future.

Besides, how can we discount the care that went into the making of these particular dolls as not being a contribution to what's already out there?

    5. I guess I'd have the same reaction is Takara or Mattel suddenly unveiled a BJD. Sonokong is a fairly large Korean toy company, I think they make their own and distribute for other companies.

That's why it's kind of a like a bandwagon thing.

    6. I really think that she looks unimpressive because they're showing her without a faceup. Honestly, i think that many of volks older heads look really unimpressive without faceups, but then you put faceups on them and wow! it's like painting on a blank canvas. So, i reserve judgement untill i see a couple with faceups.

    7. I think it's just you. Isn't Ch's Red Queen a Cebee?

    8. i stuck teh photo's side by side and another friend aggrees they do look alike. so it's not just me.

    9. Oh. Well I guess I really don't know who you are talking about anyhow. I couldn't find Red Queen.

    10. Snow white - Queen

    11. she has great clothes.......thats about it. *_*

    12. I think she can be quite beautiful. <33

    13. I don't know.. I actually kinda like the smiling one.. She'd be fun to try my first faceups on...

    14. Rhea's not really my cup of tea for the simple face that I prefer a less "sweet" face.
But they do seem pretty basic, so maybe this doll would be a good choice for children who want to have a first doll to practice on, get a lot of play time out of, and not spend a fortune for something that has the potential to get ruined. The outfits also seem geared to a more conservative audience- no BDSM or Lolita type clothes.

    15. Hi guys!
Wow, I had no idea you guys were chatting about these Rhea dolls here! One of the members mentioned to me, but I couldn't find this chat last night! LOL...Anyway, it's so nice to see that people are paying attention. The prototypes of Rhea dolls you've seen photos of have the very minimal face make-up, because they are not made up by customization, but only made up to show the basic look from the manufacturer. I'm sure you can already tell from the pictures that they have the very basic, solid lip color, along with no makeup on eyes, no blush, no shadow..etc. All they did is add eye brows and lip color. If you are creative, you can make your own masterpiece out of these basic Rheas. I see so many possibilities with make-up variations on these two face molds! As I mentioned on the Marketplace, they have the face which I can totally see wearing the gothic look, and also the goody 2 shoes school girl look, and the little rascals look, PunK RocK and so much more depending upon make-up! The main thing is how to broaden your vision and creativity on these no make-up basic dolls! Also, of course, it's totally up to the viewer to see what they want to see, and how they want to characterize these dolls. Remember, if you think these dolls suck, they will suck. If you think these dolls are prescious, they will be prescious! :daisy
