Jan 29, 2005

    1. OMG!!!! I do not need another doll and so I just admire from afar....But what a beauty. And the outfit, while not my usual "like" is fantastic!!!!

Oh...he's on ebay...My Gandolph is shaking his head...NO!!!!

"We have some clothes to think about, my friend Legolas has to be found and you simply CANNOT adopt another ...now..."

One must follow the wisdom of the Wizard :crushed

    2. The faceup is nice, however am I the only one bothered a bit by all the Nazi insignia plastered on him?

They could have used any other military decoration, was nazi insignia a necessary addition to his outfit or something.. Is he supposed to be a futuristic SS officer? In short shorts? Oh man...

It's just so damn strange to see this stuff completely out of context. I'm used to seeing this in war games, but it's always for the sake of historical accuracy. Is this the new kind of punk no one told me about?

    3. I do love that outfit o__o

    4. Very cool....but I'm a bit more creeped out that he's a 'medical examiner' and dressed like THAT. What kind of exams is he giving!?!!? :nosebleed

I'm guessing he's the pair to the 'police' one they have up on their website, since they're both from the same 'year.'

    5. Actually, if you look closely, there is no swastica on it, the little wreath under the eagles feet says "25". I think they tacked that on to him (as well as police lune, who also had 25's) to be a kinda 'police badge' if you will. It looks to be in that vein of decor, I know (I had the same thoughts as you did the first time I saw police lune, as I have seen a very simular pin that DOES have a swastica on it show up on Yj!A outfits alot), but I don't think Souldoll means it offensively. Plus, it looks like its pinned on there so iiitts probibly removeable.

At least, that is my opinion.

    6. Swasticas are a sun symbol used by a great many peoples, including plenty of Europeans until hijacked in the last century to be a symbol of evil (not that the nazis thought of it that way, but that's the result).

I know illuminators who wish to decorate pages as done in the middle ages to look through a book of illuminations saying dam* nazis, dam* nazis, dam* nazis, 'cause page after page had a border or motif largely of swastikas.
Choice between accuracy & not using motifs offensive to themselves & others.

    7. Doesn't look like a swastica to me, but Holy God is I had $800 I would so buy him.
      ... and I don't normally even like SoulDolls. :o

    8. Unfortunately that same german eagle design & wreath appears on many nazi documents and is the most widely used sleeve/breast insignia. There is no swastika but there is an iron cross in the middle, again an honor badge used/adapted by the nazis. I guess that makes it "de-nazified".. kind of. 25 is for "25 years of service" I believe. Maybe souldoll did not even realize what this was.

I know they dont mean any offence of course, I'm just amused by such a strange choice of decor since he does not look like he's supposed to be anything of that sort. This symbol just does not seem to be something that one would absent mindedly pin on a doll as a pretty decorative thing. So I'm just .. surprised, I guess would be the word.

It's good that you can take it off, he's face is really beautiful. The makeup makes him look a bit upset.. or thoughtful.

    9. :( I have the money on visa but I don't want to charge it, besides I am getting Isao next week so while Lune is dreamy, I don't have anymore room for 5 ball jointed dolls.

    10. Think Isao is just as beautiful...if not more so :D

    11. The first thing I thought of when I saw him was the I.V.Y. sidestory at the end of From Erotica With Love vol. 2...

I like his pants. Or shorts. Hmm... Shorts/legwarmer combo with convenient leashes?

    12. LOL, that was pretty much my reaction. I've been reading the J.D. Robb books recently (futuristic police procedurals), so I was trying to imagine him appearing at one of her murder scenes in that outfit.

    13. There are a lot of groups in Japan and Korea that really like the look of the Nazi and SS uniforms. In the infamous yaoi book of Bronze, there's some imagery with the characters as a Nazi vampire. I think it's Bronze... it might be the other book. The Nazi's used and usurped a lot of symbols that were time honored by different military groups in europe and unfortunately they have ruined a lot of it. Maybe in Japan and Korea the Nazi look doesn't have the same stigma as it does here? I don't know. :/ We also get a constant reminder in the form of Neo-Nazi's and the goings on of that in our own country...

Well... if you're still distracted about it, you could go play Castle Wolfenstien... or Medal of Honor... or watch Indiana Jones. X3 "Nazi's... I hate these guys."

    14. Oh Wow !
There is an address at the bottom of the auction page ...did anyone see that? :D
oooh... to be in New York !
Does anyone live close to that shop?
I hope someone can go and take pictures of the shop...
      please ~~~~~

    15. I've been to that store - its 5 mins from my house literally. They are not a souldoll store. They are a card store, that has Chase and Aru for sale. Granted I went this past summer, but I doubt things have changed much. The people there didn't even give me a correct price quote(150 for a doll thoat typically goes for 250+? ii think not) *sweatdrop*. they are nice but they didn't know much about the dolls. I can have my mother check to see if that has changed as I am in PA atm, but like I said, I doubt they carry the full sized dolls - they had barely any space for the soulkids themselves.

    16. He is stunning. I'm really impressed with the Lune doll. So gorgeous.

Sorry, OT, but... ...I love that manga so much. Well, the actual manga. Haven't read the side story yet. I'm waiting for my copy of vol. 2.

Also, about the Nazi issue; one of the reasons that at least the Japanese don't have the Nazi stigma we do is that they were allied with Germany during WWII.

    17. Well, I know a lot of Germans (and Germany in general) seem to be very, very ashamed about what happened there. I've found that (as a rule with the German people I know/have seen/read about in class) they're even more uncomfortable with it than we (in the States, at least) are.

    18. Being half Jewish, I doubt I'd even consider purchasing a "nazi-type" uniform for a doll. I don't think Nazism is a fashion statement, and people who do think that need to be more educated. That said, the symbol is not the nazi's alone, and it stinks they kinda ended up mucking it up.

      Lune is beatiful though.
