Nipples - I'm not a fan

Well I guess if you feel brave enough you could always remove them. Heard of a few people sanding them off or down. Only problem is of course that there is no going back.

 

Honestly, I don't see any options other than a thick padded bra (which would bulk up the chest and make the breasts look bigger, thus making her look less like a teen girl figure in a different way!) or sanding down the nipples. I would suggest looking around in the threads on customizing, and reading more about sanding and modding. Sanding down nipples so they don't poke through clothes like crazy is a pretty simple modification, and I think if you read more about mods you might find that you don't feel too intimidated to give it a try after all! I know that happened to me with my first girl. I was scared to do nything to her and was planning on paying for the company faceup because I was so scared to mess her up. But the more I read and researched the more I felt comfortable with the idea of working on her, and now I've not only done her faceup myself but restrung and sueded her. All of that is to say.... don't let your dolls scare you, it's easier to work on them than it seems at first.

 

Another option is clothing types! A tshirt is going to show nipples, but something lacy, or with thicker textured fabric is going to hide it better. Even a print fabric may disguise it some. I have two large busted teenage girls, and their big boobs and visible nipples don't bother me. Some teen girls DO have large busts (I was one of them.....), so it's really not unrealistic.

But if it really bothers you, sanding is probably your best option. You don't have to totally do away with them, just sand them down to be not so visible through clothing. There should be some good information in the customization and maintenance section. If you don't find what you're looking for, asking how to sand would be a good idea. If you want a more temporary/not permanent fix, this thread has some ideas.

 

You also have the option of sending the part of to an experienced modder to do it for you. That way you don't have to deal with learning to do it yourself.
However, if modding is something you want to learn sooner or later anyway, I'd say this is a pretty good place to start.

You would still have to take it apart, though. But it's not really that hard. Just pay attention as you take it apart and when it's time to put it together again you more or less do the same thing, but in reverse. Look at a few tutorials first and get the tools you want to use, together and you are good to go.
If you worry about remembering how the doll goes together you can always take notes, take pictures or even film the process of taking the doll apart, then you can easily look anything up it you get uncertain when it's restringing time.

 

If you do decide to sand them, I think Volks' eye beveling tool would work, it's small, rounded and easy to manipulate.

 

I think a very fine sandpaper is probbably better. Since it is such a tiny amount of resin to remove something like a 800 grit paper of decent quality would do the job very fast and safe if wetsanding.

 

depending on the outfit I've had fairly good luck using a bit of flesh colored eye putty or a tiny bit of fiberfill stuffing.

 

Augh I know exactly how you feel! I hate that! Putty sounds like a good idea though, unless it tends to get on clothing. I haven't tried.

 

Why don't you do what they do in Hollywood? Put bandaids over them. They make those tiny round ones for small cuts. They would probably do it for you and not show too much.

 

I've never been a fan of the erect nipples sculpted onto most female dolls. Omitting nipples entirely would be ridiculous- people have them, so they should be there- but I've never seen then point in making them fully erectile.

Unless my doll is a nudist/bra-less in a cold place, or a porn star, there is no good reason she should go around with Headlights On, as it were, especially since most of my dolls wear clothing that would at least partially compress the nipple and should not be having holes poked through it by pointy bits.

My solution? Every female doll I own has had those erect nipples sanded down to a softer level, then just blushed lightly back on. That way they have nipples so they don't look weird to me, but they can also wear clothes and not look disturbingly Stiff.

 

A molded felt bra works and isn't very thick. Just take felt cut in a semicircle (bra cups tend to be slightly almond or lemon shaped), wet it, and press it around the breast. When its dry it will be curved like a foam cup, seamless, thin enough to not show but firm enough to keep her nipples from poking through the fabric.

By the way natural felt works better than the acrylic craft felt sold in most places, but either can be used.

 

All of my girls are Volks MSD size and they were FCS S bust, because I did not want my young girl dolls having anything showing up under their clothes. So far I've had no problems.

 

If you're using craft/acrylic felt you might have to work it a bit with your hands but yeah, its not too hard. If you take a bit and pull on it you'll be able to tell how easy it will be to shape. I lucked into a bundle of vintage wool felt and been using the funkier colors for undies since it won't show. Its great for corsets too since you can layer it a bit to create the illusion of old fashioned shaping.

 

Heavy, I don't get the - ahem - erectness... Of them. Like, they're just so... There.... You know?
I don't have an issue or anything. I just think they're really obvious and it does amuse me some, which I'm a little ashamed to admit

 

I'm not a fan of them being super long and pointy because it does make it harder to dress... but I definitely want them to be noticeable on a naked doll! But so far I only have boys, so it's a lot less of an issue. But, when I do get a lady, I'll have to remember that bra tip!

I'm not a fan of eye-poking nipples, either. It's just not very natural unless under certain conditions, like it being very cold or something like that. I think such sculpts are just not very careful or detailed. Fortunately--it IS a pretty easy fix.

I'm not big on making mods, so usually I'll resort to just not having them wear thin, tight fabrics. But if the nipples are just too prominent, I'd probably take a bit of ultra-fine sand-paper to them... not sanding them down entirely, but carefully making them a bit smaller and softer. But fortunately, I haven't had to do that for any of my dolls so far!

I did just get a male doll with pretty huge/chunky nipples. Just not very well sculpted. But they aren't poking out that much (just big and flat), so I'm not too bothered. Sculptors need to be a bit more subtle about such things! Just suggesting something is there rather than going overboard would be best. But, oh, well! I wouldn't not buy a doll because of that.
