1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

NOT Waiting for a Doll

Jan 19, 2015

    1. I'm currently in the position where I do not have a doll on order. They are all home, safe and sound and it feels a little odd.

I have tons to do for the dolls I have at home however I'm restless and feel like I should be ordering my next doll (even though I have no actual doll in mind to order) because they take so long to arrive and I feel like I'm wasting time or something?

Am I making any sense? Does anyone else get this?

    2. I get it! But personally, it's a refreshing feeling for me. Like "everything is home, no stressing over companies falling apart, sellers flaking, damages in transit, lost packages, no money owed on anything" It feels GOOD to me! But after awhile, I do start thinking I need something new. Though right now, I'm really thinking once my current in progress dolls are done, I'll take a break on acquiring and focus on getting the rest of the crew to exactly where they need to be before buying more.

    3. To be true, I feel relax when I don't have a doll on order.
It's always making me nervous to wonder if the doll is gonna be perfect, especially when ordering from a different company. Same with wigs, eyes and clothes... But I love the research part, there is nothing like finding exactly what you are searching for :)

    4. I love to just focus on one doll at a time!!

    5. I'm good in multitasking.
Working on many projects isn't really a bad thing for me and it helps me staying focused. So I totally feel you.
I'm workaholic and have serious problems with not doing anything.

    6. I feel in peace when no more doll on order like now :D I used to be afraid that I might get defected, damaged dolls or even lost them during shipping! And I will definitely feel much more in peace when all my dolls are completed (3 heads still need face up).

    7. On the one hand, it feels nice to not feel impatient and to have all my doll family at home with me. On the other hand, however, there's something so nice about knowing you've got a little something coming in the mail -- like a gift from past you lol

      I waited a long time after my first order, and even after my second....but now I'm starting a layaway right as my last one finished. It looks like perpetual waiting for me this year ;-;

    8. I get this 100%. I'm basically always working/waiting for something to arrive whether it be an entire doll, parts, clothes, wigs, or props. It's pretty rare that I have nothing coming down the pipeline.

    9. Actually... I can't wait to not be waiting for a doll myself... *sigh* even if that's not going to happen anytime soon...

    10. It's very rare for me to not be waiting for a package. If it's not doll related, it's an anime figure or cosplay stuff. But during those times of not getting mail is so peaceful. I don't have to worry about someone being home to sign for the package and I don't have to worry about something being lost or damaged. I have one layaway right now and I'm waiting for two figures I preordered to be released. It's going to be a lot of waiting for the next few months. I need to tell myself to stop ordering stuff.

    11. I'm still very tempted by a lot of dolls I see but at this point really I only need one more body and I could call it done in terms of the collecting BJD's thing. Over the past couple of years I've either bought or traded for 10 dolls. That's more than enough BJD's dolls for anybody, laugh. I didn't break the bank doing it. Most are cheaper RS/Miro dolls or hybrids. I probably spent about the same as I would have on one Soom or Iple type doll Maybe just a bit more, but not much, and in the end I got a lot of dolls out of it, a little community's worth so I can't complain. I'm happy with the dolls I have, very much so. But I still get tempted by some heads that I see a lot, I will admit. Right now I have nothing major happening. I'm looking for a doll body for my last head and I will likely get that as soon as I can find one in my price range but other than that I have no plans, nothing in the mail. No major doll plans beyond that for at least the rest of the year. After the frenzy of acquiring these I think I can stand the break. I'll be happy to rest my wallet for a long while once my last girl has a body...

    12. There's a certain doll I'd really love to order right now, but I'm not currently waiting on anyone, and I haven't been since 2012. I don't miss that part at all. Waiting and worrying for months is stressful.

    13. I wish I could be in the position of not waiting for a doll anymore, but this hobby is so addictive...

    14. I'm not waiting for anything, and strangely enough I'm not dying to order anything at the moment. I hope I can use this time wisely to finish a few dolly projects. ;)

    15. I found a doll for a character I'd been trying to shell for years the other day, but he is a basic, and I'll save up for him. Right now, I'll just concentrate on the dolls I have.

    16. Sometimes I just can't decide what my next doll should be.

    17. I have decided on my next doll. It was a toss up between a new DC doll or a Doll Zone one. I have to keep telling myself that I can't have them all! I'm going to save up for this new one so at least I will be doing something while waiting for the next doll! Hopefully the unease won't be so bad.... Maybe... Hehe

    18. Same here, and I totally agree it's addicting! I'm waiting on several dolls, but I don't have immediate plans to bring any home after they arrive. I love the excitement of waiting on a new doll, but also like the sense of completion that comes when everyone is home, clothed, and has everything they need.

    19. I know how you feel! I had maybe ten different items ordered for Elda at the time that I got her and it was such a rush to check the mail and find something new every time!

On the other end though, if the wait is too long I'll get agitated in the wait. I actually have a hard time ordering dolls from companies with wait times over a month and it makes me not want to buy as much. (luckily my fave company has a fabulous shipping record!)

    20. For the first time in 16 months I have no dolls on order. Yes, it does seem odd, but I am still browsing marketplace, all the dealers, and all my favorite companies sites for my next.
