1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Now I'm really curious

Dec 29, 2012

    1. I don't know if this has been asked before - if so, my apologies (I'm multi-tasking at the computer right this moment) - but has anyone ever traveled to another country and bought a ball-jointed doll or an accessory for one?

    2. Sure - once did a 2-week tour thru the big cities of Japan & hit just about every Volks outlet along the way (including a pilgrimage to the nerve-center at Tenshi no Sato). I brought extra luggage-space for all the clothes/shoes/supplies I knew I'd buy... My friend brought home a new doll. Great fun!

    3. Wow. That does sound like it was fun. (Did you get any pocky along the way?)

    4. That does sound like fun. I'd like to go to Japan to see the sites and do that. Of course, I'd bring a Volks doll with me.

    5. I haven't done it but I plan to. I want to find little doll shops in Japan and have a shopping spree for my boys. But that would be just a small part of my trip, I wouldn't wont to spend too much time on BJD stuff since I would want to spoil myself too.

    6. Oh, wow. I would LOVE to do that! Someday...

    7. I haven't, but I would certainly love to.

    8. I haven't ever gone overseas to buy a doll, but in Hong Kong, I went to every shop with BJD clothes that I know of.

    9. Yep! I bought my Migidoll Jina head while I was in Seoul and I also went to Nine9Style's shop and Iplehouse's showroom. It was really fun!

    10. Naah, can't stand Pocky. But I did eat my own body-weight in mochi. :XD:

    11. I worked over in Japan for several years.
Way before my bjd days. Even then there were few places to
get anything doll related. I searched everywhere to get a kimono for one of my dolls
then ended up buying some silks to make one. I still have it wrapped up at my parents waiting
      to be made!

i have to admit I was disappointed not to find more doll stuff.
I think my next holiday will be to Korea, I'll have to plan it well to include a trip to the iple shrine!

    12. I haven't yet, but I'm going to Japan after I graduate and plan on buying a doll our two while there

    13. I'm planning to go to Japan next year or so but not until I have saved enough money buy the volks doll I really want *_* My bf thinks I'm entirely bonkers :| But hey I live in Belgium and I would have to pay a lot to customs so... :sweat

    14. I don't think I would be able to go to Japan or California without going to a Volks store! ;) I would plan it into my trip. Even if I didn't buy a doll, I would buy presents for my dolls there.

Himegyarudoll, there's Mandarake stores you can visit in Japan that have some pre-owned BJDs, clothes and accessories and for good prices too. It's not always Volks dolls, Unoa turn up often and I've seen Dream of Doll and Obitsu for sale through their online stores too.

    15. Well im planning to xD (already looking at tickets and planning my trip)

Gonna attend DollismPlus this July and hit every doll shop available in HongKong!! :3
My sole purpose of going to hongkong is to shop for my doll :D

    16. Never been to other country yet, but I would love to someday =D

    17. What is DollismPlus? Is that a convention of some kind?

    18. I'd love to go to Japan/South Korea/ anywhere in Asia not only because of BJDs but to meet the culture and visit some interesting places. Buying a doll would be a plus!

    19. Yep! I was lucky enough to go to Dolpa Kyoto 9, the Akihabara Sumika and Mandarake and I bought a few accessories! There was a DD Moe at Mandarake that I was so tempted to buy, but I had no way to bring her back with me! I was impressed at how many older Volks limiteds Mandarake had.

    20. Mochi is my favorite XD Coupled with the Volks showrooms, that sounds like a pretty perfect trip to me!
