Outing with Your Bjds - taking your BJDs out in public places

    1. The only place I've taken my doll is to a cosplay club. It was a lot of fun but also very crowded. I wasn't really worried about other people there thinking I was weird or anything but I was worried about bumping into people and messing up his faceup or losing his wig or hat. He was fine though and is still in perfect condition. I did take pictures but they're all from far away and it's difficult to see him in them. We had fun though and I'd do it again.

    2. You're so lucky!! i have never went to a cosplay club, I too, would think to be afraid, i was holding her in my arms all the time because there were too much people bumping into each other, didn't want to risk it, plus i feel safer when she is in my hands :), I hope you get the chance to do so again! :D I bet it's an amazing experience!!

    3. soooo cute!!! love her feathers and sweater!! :3

    4. I dont take my boy out much...Im a little introvert,so I dont like having people looking at me doing such things. If I take him out,i try to look for empty places, usually in nature. The few things Ive taken him out to little events,or places with some people around...there are always kids(and not "so kids") that start asking in mean ways, and try to touch.Theres the risk also,in some crowded place,in the city.I dont like that too...u_u

    5. I take my dolls out sometimes to mountains, park and lake near where I live. And sometimes also to doll meet in other city. Only crowded place I would avoid because my dolls could get damages.

    6. you are right, athough i like to block other people out, and they have not yet asked to touch my little one, but if they would try i think i would bite off their hands :(

I have no experience in doll meets as there aren't any in country (sadly) we don't have lakes, mountains so its just parks :) but people in my country are a little bit slow at advancing... :/ so you can understand the looks i get.

    7. I'm new to the hobby and have taken my RS Mei out to a really cool open air museum in a nearby town. Taking pictures with the old train cars and such was a real blast :D

    8. oohhh i want to see the pictures!!! sounds so amazing! a museum :3

    9. I take my dolls out in public places sometimes, but try to avoid crowded places as I prefer not to have people in the background - or watching me.

I also take dolls along on holidays. We have a small RV, so I usually take about five dolls and their props along. Again, I prefer private spots without lots of people, but if there's no choice and I really want to take a doll photos somewhere, I'll just try ignore the people. It also helps if I take off my glasses. I tell myself if I can't see them, then they can't see me. Works like a charm!

I took one of my dolls to a nearby Ruins Garden this past weekend. There was a wedding party there for formal wedding shots, but I managed to find secluded spots.....like this...

My husband is actually hold the guy up by the legs so he's high enough in comparison to the gate.

    10. I was in the middle of the city after a meet one day and decided to take some pics out in a crowded street and yes I did get stared at. It can be a bit intimidating at times but it can also be great fun.

I have taken them to parks and anime/sci fi conventions and even carried one of my big boys (65cm) into McDonalds for lunch on the way to a con which was funny. I find I end up talking to lots of people that I would normally never meet because of them :)

    11. So many pictures to see!! :D this is incredible that i finally found my pack of people who think alot like me :), about the glasses, sadly i do it too and alot of times, i get stared at alot even the way i dress is different for them is wierd to wear stocking with a skirt so i dont show my buttocks or no cleavage shirt... so i take them off and pretend im walking alone in the street :( but i feel comfortable that way ^^ just as long as i have my doll with me i feel comfortable...a lot!

    12. My dolls don't really leave the house :sweat I did take my boy to a meetup at JAFAX in Grand Rapids over the summer and to the store to find some doll-sized furniture. I would love to take him out more often to get some nice pictures, but I'd be worried about people getting too curious.

    13. I have not taken a BJD out yet but taken a different type of doll which is probably bigger than a BJD! I usually pretend they are my daughters doll but it will not be as easy with BJD! If I am out in the country I might take photos if they are not many people about!

    14. I don't think you should be worried about either people's curious eyes or pretending they are your daughter's dolls. They are yours and you should be proud of it, just to remind you that bjds are for 18+. So technically they are for our age, it is a beautiful hobby that harms no body and enhances our imagination and creativity rather then dulling us. I wouldn't mind on curious eyes, i would embrace the fact they are looking even though too much eyes distract me. Sometimes i admit, i do take my bjd out in public not because i want attention, but because i want them to see that bjd exist and see their beauty :)

    15. To be honest...I have my doll with me all the time nowadays. He's always in my bag even if I don't take him out. I don't carry much stuff with me so he basically gets the bag all to himself lol. I like having him with me even if I can't take him out because I just feel better that way. I also wouldn't consider the hobby 18+. I don't know who made up that rule but there's no one to enforce it. ;) Plus I can't imagine the looks I would get if I told a stranger that the hobby is 18+ when there's already a lot of non-doll people thinking that we go around sexualizing our dolls!

    16. I've only recently started to bring dolls outside by myself. Mostly I'm doing this because I need to take pictures for my shop and they look better when there's nature in the background (I think). Have to say though, that I did feel a bit awkward, even if I had the perfect excuse. Which means that I'll have to do this more often!

    17. I've been told that it's not a child's hobby, but obviously you are right, this hobby belongs to everyone as long as they care for their dolls. I carry my girl in my bag where ever i go except for work as im scared someone might find her and do something bad to her, i don't trust my work place as they aren't fond of any art except food art xD so just in case i don't want to find my doll in a pan o-o
