1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Please help me out! Doll problems

Apr 3, 2015

    1. Hi lovely bjd lovers!

I've been interested in these amazing dolls for 6 years now.
But unfortunately i don't own one.
I have forgotten about them for a while but recently i've been started thing about them!

I've always been in love with Dollzone's Hong.
But I always thought he was just too expensive.

I just found out that he will be discontinued in may! How horrible!
I don't know what to do.. do I buy him? But what if he doesn't get the love and attention he deserves..
But if i don't i won't ever get the chance again.

For some reason i am a little ashamed that i am willing to spend such an amount for a doll.
Please don't get me wrong! I respect all of you!

I just don't know what to do :...(

    2. If you want him, get him.
You deserve to have something you love.
If you don't like him, you can always sell him on the MP or online auction site. :sweat

    3. I'm in a panic over DZ discontinuing too! I've always liked Memphis. I think I will just buy his head though, which isn't quite a shock to the wallet and the discount helps. I already have other dolls though, so a floating head won't bother me too much. You can always buy a body for him later if you decide you really like him.

    4. Yeah, this sounds very familiar! This was me this time last year! So, if you want him, get him! Plenty of people have expensive golf clubs, boats, designer bags, and there's not a negative guilt feeling about those things! If you have been wanting him for 6 years, that says a lot. Just as long as you aren't going to spend rent money or something crazy like that! Go for it! Make some local connections, it's worth it.

Everything you said sounds completely normal.

    5. You guys are so sweet!
      It's not that i can't afford it.
I'm just wondering what my family and friends will think.
But after reading through the forum i already feel al lot better!

I feel like i don't really have someone to share my bjd love with, as my boyfriend finds them rather creepy.

    6. One thing you learn fast around here is that we are, as a group, totally Enablers.

That said, given the situation I would probably go ahead and buy the doll, myself. That way there'll be no regrets about having missed the chance to get a new one directly from the company. Also, if it turns out that you don't like him as much as you'd hoped once you have the doll in hand (That does happen sometimes. It can be very hard to tell what a doll really looks like based on nothing but pictures-), DZs seem to be fairly popular, so selling him on shouldn't be too much trouble.

Re: the SO finding them "creepy"... Mr. Brightfires said exactly the same thing when I got my first. These days? He plays with a few of them as much as I do. Once he got used to having them around, they lost a lot of their creep-factor.

    7. If you can buy a head that's what I'd do. You can cut costs considerably by buying a head and a lower priced body and if money is a major factor that's what I'd suggest too. As long as you have the head you have the doll basically. You can always hybrid.

    8. The only thing you have to worry about with this option is matching the resin, which can be a pain.

KatsumeNyaa, it can be hard to enjoy the hobby alone, which is what I've been doing for the past few years, but that's why it's always nice to get involved in the community here on DoA or other sites. You might also be able to find fellow bjd lovers in your region who schedule meet-ups. c: I wouldn't worry too much if your boyfriend/family finds your doll creepy because it's not their doll, but yours. :P And you never know if they'll get used to the doll and maybe even start liking it, too.

Considering the situation, I'm going to agree with the other people in this thread by encouraging you to get Hong. It's better to get him and then sell later if he doesn't click with you than to miss an opportunity you may regret, especially since you've been admiring him for 6 years!

    9. I agree with whats been said. It isn't exactly a snap decision to get him because he is being discontinued as you have been interested in dolls for six years! That is longer then I have been in the hobby! I have three DollZone dolls and I love them so I say go for it! People might not understand but people tend to spend a lot of money on the things they love and I'll bet your friends and family have paid a lot for something at some point. Besides you have a great community here ready to support you and admire all the pictures and stories about your lovely boy. Go for it!

    10. You've helped me a lot! And I just talked with my boyfriend about the situation. And he really encouraged me to get him!! So I think I will order him right now!

      Thankyou guys!!! :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    11. It's always better in life to do something and regret it than to not do something and regret it :)

I hope you love your dolly! If you've wanted him for 6 years then I'm sure he won't be a disappointment, but might be the start of a beautiful new hobby!

    12. Will i need to order a wig cap and eye putty etc with the doll?

    13. Dollzone dolls generally come with eyes. Unless they've changed something recently? The wig cap is always a good idea. Some people use rubber bands but wig caps prevent staining.

      Congrats btw :)

    14. Unless your order a fullset you should get a wig and a wig cap is always a good idea. DollZone does give eyes with their dolls and sometimes dealers throw in extras so you might get different eyes or putty or who knows.

If you want a particular pair of eyes you might need to buy those and some putty to go with it. You could also get some sticky tack to use as putty if you need more after the doll arrives. A balloon can be cut to make a wig cap as well. You could also request a particular pair from DollZone maybe? It dosn't hurt to ask :)! But if you do get a fullset you will get all the stuff you see in the company photos.

    15. This thread might be locked soon because it's a bit too personal...

But really--buying or not is up to you! It's a very personal decision. I mean, you either think the dolls is worth spending the money on it or not.

Bear in mind that you can always try and sell the doll if things don't work out. You might not make all your money back, but you can get most of it back, so it won't be a total loss.
