Posability of Dream of Doll DoT boy dolls?

Oct 29, 2006

    1. I've been dreaming about getting one of the DOT boys but I'm still wondering about how well they would pose. I've heard about really bad posing with CP dolls the same size. How do other DOT owners find their dolls' posability?
      (What are 'kicky legs'? *newbie*)

    2. I think Quill, my Camine, has wonderful posability. He stands great and always looks good in photoshoots ^__^. DoT posability can be bad if the stringing is too loose or tight as well. Thats easy to fix though. Im going to wire (super easy to do)Quill so he poses better, but without it he still poses great....

    3. I think kicky legs are when legs...won't go straight? They'll just snap into a bent position? I think anyway. nwn; DoTs really don't have that problem because their legs lock into place, but that also means they really can't halfway bend their legs easily unless their stringing is loose or one is a pro at balancing their doll.

      I think my dot poses wonderfully! nwn My boy (camine) stands like a rock and can hold a ton of poses.

    4. My Lahoo poses pretty well even without suede and such. He has no problem giving MSDs piggy back rides and such, but I'd probably wire/suede his arms just so he can touch his face and such.

    5. I would agree with the arm thing. My camine can't touch his face, but he is not wired or anything so maybe I can fix that. >w>

    6. My DOT Shall poses very well. She can slouch, which I really like as my other dolls cannot. XD And she can cross her legs and hold poses well. She is a little bit prone to falling over when standing, but I think that has something to do with how skinny she is. The boy DOTs might not have as much of a problem with that. Her head likes to snap in one direction, but that might be from how tightly she's strung. I haven't gotten around to redoing it yet. ^^

      I don't really have any complaints about posability. ^_^

    7. Sounds good so far. =)
      So exactly what is wiring/sueding? ^^;
      Is that unstringing the doll and inserting wires inside for better movement?
      Would there be any other occasion for me to unstring a doll (except for sanding since I don't plan on doing that)?

    8. As for wiring, yes you just stick pieces of wire inside their arms/legs. ^^;

      Sueding is where you glue material (some people hot glue instead of suede material) around the sockets of the dolls to help the joints stay in place better.

      Hm. I unstrung my doll when he came home because I was really curious (nwn Heh.) and I needed to loosen the elastic a bit, it was way too tight. xwx;; You might need to restring your doll if the elastic gets too loose or if you need to loosen the elastic. Or if you want to wash your doll off really well, which I did because he smelled like chemicals. n_n;;

    9. Ah~ I see, I see.
      I suppose unstringing would be good...but I'm afraid the make-up might wash off if I wash the head. Or should I not wash the head at all?

    10. Your doll's head should be coated with MSC or some other type of protection coat by the company you got it from (if you bought the doll with face-up in the first place) so washing it should be no problem. You might be careful to just rinse it and dry it out gently. No scrubbing of course... ^_^

    11. DOTs are fantastic standers. Unlike, say, CP their legs lock into position when they're straight, which means no danger of them suddenly crumpling and falling. I'm always hovering nervously around my CP boy when I finally get him to stand, but with my Camine I can just plonk him down and walk away, if I feel so inclined. He's steady as a rock :3nodding:

      He has great movement in his wrists, though I find his ankle joints a bit ugly and limiting to the movement of his feet. Then again, that adds to his stability even more, so I can't really complain.

    12. Oh, I didn't wash his head, just his body. I would be afraid, even though the head is coated, that it would come off. >.< I think you can lightly wipe something off but I wouldn't rub it or anything.

    13. OwO What poses CAN they hold?

    14. My Levin (Ducan) posed really well and as all the DOT says, they stand like rock. CP is wobbly sometimes and couldn't stand really well unlike DOTs they have locking joints in their knees, just be carefull when you're bending them ;) DOTs stands 64cm something like SD13 way taller than CPs and other SD(57cm-60cm) sized.

      The color of DOT resin is pinkish white and I love that color! You might be surprised if you see them overly pinkish but as what I've read in here that when DOT yellows it still look good and they turn beige or more flesh color. ^__^

      As for the Shoes, DOTs have really big feet so you must find shoes that has a size 8cmx4cm or over. And for the clothes like pants be sure to check the sizes and compare it to your DOT because DOTs have long legs, for shirts you can easily fine one they fit SD sized clothes ;)
