1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Posability?

Feb 20, 2010

    1. Did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this, so here goes.

I'm wondering what the most posable BJDs base bodies are and who makes them. So far, the only dolls I have had real contact with are DDs. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed with the range of poses available.:| Is there any BJDs that can do better, or is this just a unobtainable dream of mine?

    2. Would love to hear more answers to this have Luts which I feel is more posable than my Elfdoll. Although lying side by side the Elfdoll has the more real looking jointed body.

    3. Thaasa II is awesome. I wish they'd do something about the sculpt, but I guess it won't be noticeable when fully clothed. Here's hoping a DD head would fit perfectly. Thanks a lot!

    4. ..........

    5. I was actually wondering how well the new Dolkot bodies pose >.>

    6. I also wouldn't count out BBB and RS flexibodies. Mine can sit in seiza without any serious modifications to the legs in order to do so. A friend of mine has a doll which has removable parts for the upper and lower legs in order to fold the legs like that. Great idea, bad for wearing short skirts.
When decently strung, my dolls can do most anything.

    7. The new double jointed dollzone bodies pose quite well...and stand like rocks besides :)

    8. BBB and RS Flexi bodies? To my knowledge, Domuya is the company that manufactures the Flexi bodies (my Elfdoll June is on a Flexi 1), which is the type you mentioned your friend has, with the removable leg plates.

Bobobie and Resinsoul have fine bodies (Resinsoul's being the better in sculpting and posability), but they don't make Flexi bodies. :sweat

    9. I've gone through a lot of bodies for my dolls looking for just that right balance of stability and poseability. :sweat (Most of my dolls are hybrids for just that reason).

For me, the Domuya Flexibody was the the most flexible, but at the expense of stability... it does take some fiddling and work to learn how to get it to stand solidly.

In my experience so far, some of the best bodies for a good balance of flexibility + ease of use are the Souldoll Double bodies and my AOD v2 1/3 body. I posted some photos of the flexibility/balance of the AOD body here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5507154

I also have a DD2 body that poses beautifully, and its light weight makes it easy to balance.

I've also never owned any, but I second the mention of Fairyland's bodies... especially their Littlefee and Minifee A-line ones. I've seen some at meetups and they can do some amazing things! :aheartbea

    10. Oh, mine have doublejointed bodies mind you, and they are flexibodies. Except for stuff like high-heel feet and such. But those things are replacable when found a proper match.

    11. The Domuya Flexi bodies feature a few extra/different joints and removable leg/arm plates and such that make them more diverse with regards to posing (it does however mean the will fall/buckle more than other dolls) So generally the more posability you want, the less stability you get. They released a second version of the flexi body recently i'm not sure if they've improved the stability though.

    12. For minis, Volks's SD Cute is like a big 44cm action-figure. Double joints and rotator cuffs everywhere! I love those little guys. The Fairyland Minifee action-body is also mondo lifelike in the posing department, very expressive.

For big dolls: Dollshe DSAM, Domuya Flexi, Shinydoll, Dollstown-15, and Volks SD17 are the short-list of the best off the top of my head.

    13. Shinydoll is the best. I can't tell you how solid and balanced a Shinydoll feels. My Sayo is amazing. She is so natural and life like. Also, they are not snappy. When you move them into a pose they just...hold it.

If you check out Shin's threads you will find that other types of heads fit his bodies if you don't care for Shinydoll faces (I love Akali). Also, Shin will help you mod a head (neck) to fit one of his bodies. I believe that some Luts heads fit well.

This link will show off Shinydoll's posing power.

    14. @Kesra_Kyse: I have a Dolkot Junior Day with the new SJDK40 body. It's fantastic compared to my DOC. :thumbup You might be interested in this Dolkot Star Body review by Bootsy: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=331008

Forgot to add! My boy does have a funky hip joint. I think that is his stringing more than anything else... but I just thought I'd mention it.

    15. Fairyland, Fairyland, Fairyland. The double jointed Dollzone mini body is almost as good as Minifee A-Lines are at posing but is much less gracefully sculpted.

    16. I've actually heard from some of the people who own dolls made by Ringdoll that they pose as well, if not better than, most Shinydolls. I've never played with either myself, though, so no personal knowledge of if this is true to speak of.

    17. Out of my kids my Supia and my little Pipos girl are the most beautiful posers. They manage graceful movements and solid posing without an overload on joints. I photograph them and that is my joy in this hobby so the fact they can pose in a realistic way while still appearing human-like is very appreciated by me.

    18. Absolutely no contest. The Dollshe DSAM35s was designed with posability and articulation in mind. Run a search for Dollshe in the BJD-Opedia Dolls subforum and there should be quite a few posts with the dolls in various poses.

    19. I agree that Shinydoll Thaasa II is the best female SD posing body, with DDs being very close. However, I think that the Blue Blood male bodies are the best posers (and absolutely best looking) for the SD guys. It wasn't only posability that was taken into consideration with the Blue Blood line, they also look fantastic and natural. I said it in another thread as well, in the Bigger Dolls section.

These bodies are double jointed. They hold poses exceptionally well. Resin quality is luminous. And as an extra perk? They're quite affordable.
