1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Pricing difference on BJD sites

      For those of you wondering WHY some English sites are more expensive than say...Chinese, Korean or Japanese sites, I think I kinda found the answer.
      While browsing through Iplehouse, I was ready to place my order on the English site but just out of curiosity, I hopped over to the Chinese site to see if there was a price difference. And there was!! $53!! :evil:
      In all fairness, I was just a little miffed at the difference so I signed under the Chinese site to place my order there instead.
      Then I realized I couldn't use Paypal there but had to go through Alipay. Alright, I thought, $53 is a huge difference for someone as poor as me so I hopped over to my (dormant) Alipay account to see what could be done. After a lot of clicks and googling...I realized that for me to use Alipay....I had to go through another system which charges me, the buyer, 5% (the same 5% if I had to use paypal which charges the seller instead) And that difference...was exactly $53!! :o
      So Iplehouse isn't being discriminate or anything. They have everything worked out so we, the buyer, pays that 5% no matter what. So I'm going to go back to the English site and place my order there since I understand English a LOT better than Chinese....man...all that hard work and I thought I was being clever....:doh

      I guess they have different sites set up so they can deal with the payment system. Korean will always be the cheapest because they don't have to deal with exchange rates or other charges. I guess it's just too bad I'm a "foreigner".

      I can't say the same for other sites because, apparently, the Soom English site is cheaper. But I know LUTS English costs more than LUTS Korean.

    2. Hmm, I live in Seoul (Korea) at the moment, and I just ordered my pukifee Pio not too long ago. But I ordered him on the English site (I have accounts on both, but points on the English one). I think the price is actually slightly cheaper for the English site!

      Eg. A Pukifee is $210 USD on the English site, whereas it is 241,000 won on the Korean site (equivalent to around $216-217 USD)...

      However... Shipping is FREE in Korea, for all domestic orders if it includes a doll... So I guess that's the major money-saver.. *_* That and the fact I don't have to pay customs.. ^^;;

      Edit: I'm talking about fairyland! Not sure about other companies, but most also ship free in Korea I believe? At the blue fairy cafe you can just pick up your doll in person I think~

    3. I noticed that too, depending on the exchange rate things are cheaper on VOLKS International than on VOLKS USA, I think the shipping is also cheaper (but it takes a little longer to be shipped/arrive).

    4. Most of the (significant) pricing differences I've seen have been related to differences in either shipping or customs (or in the case of dealer sites, what I assume to be both of those plus added overhead costs), or else currency conversion issues. I would imagine that if it became known that there were price differences for other reasons people would be jumping to buy their items via the alternate sites.
