1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Rainman Tiny Elf Doll Lyn

May 23, 2006

    1. Hi
I have a Tiny Elf Doll Lyn, I am not sure if there is something wrong with her, as if I try to change the position of her head, it will just snap back to a downwards position. I am also having trouble with the legs also snapping back to a bent position. Do I have one with a stringing problem or are they all like that. Also can you tell me how to take her shoes off.
      Any help appreciated.

    2. 1. Changing tiny Elfdoll feet tutorial

Tiny Elfdoll hands and feet are tied onto the ends of the elastic loops in their arms and legs. You can use very thin fishing line or heavy thread. They may have given you some of the clear fishing line with your other feet.

      2. The kicky legs are unfortunately normal for slender tinies and many larger dolls too. Some people wire their legs by slipping a thin piece of wire in so it goes from the lower leg up into the hip area. I think you use wire that gives some resistance to bending, but not so much it might chip your doll. For Elfdoll tinies I think ome people use a silver-colored florist wire with a gauge somewhere in the 20's - 22? 24?

      3. The head problem sounds odd, especially if something is pulling the head forward toward the chest. Gently grasp you doll's head by the sides and pull up and make sure her neck isn't chipped in the front. If instead you mean that her head won't hold a pose looking up and snaps back to straight forward, that is typical but can be helped with looser elastic.

    3. yeah I agree with Carolyn
the leastic is strung too tight
but the head could be because the elastic has twisted
or sometimes if the elastic twists when the headcap is hooked on, the head can go a bit lopsided ...my Sylp kept trying to lookk behind her all the time:)
Im sure if you restring her , she will be fine

    4. Tinybear - could you take a look at the way I strung Dodo:

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65613

I just checked my modern Adel (cardboard box) and she is strung the same way as Dodo - a single large loop of elastic which sticks up through the neck for the little head loop, and becomes a loop for each leg in the hips. Dodo's original single body elastic terminated in a second head knot at the end of the loop, but I thought I could control the size of the loop better if I put the terminating knot in her body and left the head loop smooth and simple with just the knot at its base.

This does not match the Elfdoll.com stringing tutorial for Rainy Dolls which has two strands going up into the head (even though they told me tinies were strung the same as that large-doll tutorial).

The method I used makes it easy to create the head loop (except for getting the size right). I will edit my instructions a bit later to make it easier to understand.

    5. My Lyn is exactly like that, and none of the other Elfs are...her head does not want to look up at all. Maybe it's something with that sculpt. There's a huge metal loop holding her strings inside her head, and I think that's part of the problem. I've toyed with the idea of putting some sort of washer underneath it to make it more mobile.

Legs: I pipecleanered all of mine. Worked great.

    6. my elfdoll Lyn had kicky legs too, I took some thin hair-like wire and wired her legs..she can even stand..even though she is very bow-legged.

    7. Thanks everyone, I shall have to try these suggestions when I am in a "brave" mood, I have never played around with stringing before.
I will let you know how I get on when I do.
      Cheers

    8. Make sure you get thin elastic. I think I used about 1.5mm for the body and 1mm for the arms. I bought my doll elastics on Ebay and elsewhere. And heavy beige thread for tying the hands and feet on.
