It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Re-using clothes and objects from other things for your BJD

Feb 12, 2006

    1. Yesterday I was shopping and spotted a sale on some Porcelaine dolls. They were at 11$ can. As I looked at them, I started to Look at them in a rather scavenging way... BTW I am sorry for the people who collect Porcelain doll. No dolls were harm by me yet...

Oh those blue eyes are the perfect color... I wonder if they are 18mm, mmm maybe if I yank the wig... mmmmm the little coat is sexless, that would also fit my boy... ooooooh I could totally take off her eyelashes and use them for my soon to be here Yder Elf... shoes too small mmmm... the Doll holder might be big enough for Ed....

I couldn't believe myself, I was poking around to see if the wig would unglue easily and how I would take off the eyes. And no I didn't get the doll... but I AM severly tempted. for 11$ I's get a lot of bang from that porcelain doll.

Anyone has thoughts like that before?

    2. Hee hee, I've done this. ^^ A lot, actually. My first dolls first dress was a porcelain doll dress, as were her bloomers. >.< The eyes didn't fit though, and neither did the wig, but she still to this day (2 years later) uses the stand from that cannibalized doll!

    3. I've done it before to. n.n. don't feel ashamed. Its good to be a bargain shopper. I usually just scalp the clothes because they are rather well made for a good price and seem to fit my SD girls well

    4. I've ripped apart many a cheap porceline doll for this purpose. It's cheap and you get a lot of stuff for the price!

    5. I have done this too, but rarely do I get really great things. I got a coat once and a wonderful wig. But other then that I find that most porcieln dolls that sell for cheap have cheap parts.

      ~M

    6. I've stolen lots of clothes from dolls I had when I was younger for Beatrix.
I think I'd feel a little bad taking apart a doll..but at the same time it's just such a good deal!

    7. Actually, the dolls were much more expensive, but I guess no one did buy tham, so now to make way for more merchandise, they are selling them either at cost or lower than cost.

I hope they have some left at Payday.

    8. Lately, I find myself ripping off my MA 8" and Ginny dolls for their clothes because of my new arrival (Leeke Honey) because the clothes I wanted to buy for her were out of stock. Teehee, no dolls were harmed by me in the process either but I kind of feel sorry for them when I leave them nude, I feel I had to put back something on them.

    9. heh, at the michigan dolloween party, doll heads were cracked open to "harvest" their eyes.

    10. hehehehe- I would have loved to have seen that!

    11. Damn And I thought I was being bad with my Pullips by buying cheap barbies, ripping them of their clothes and accessories and tossing barbie in the dumpster... I'm about to do the same to Porcelaine dolls. LOl well the stand is worth more than the doll is sold at for now ^^;;

    12. I do this all the time! XD I've cracked open countless doll heads to get eyes, and stripped many more of the poor things naked to check clothing.

Poor dears. They went to a good cause. XD

    13. It's not scavenging, it's RECYCLING! :aangel:

I've done this a couple of times, though it's never really worked out to my advantage. Either the clothes didn't fit, or the wig wasn't salvageable, etc.

I still remain hopeful that one day I'll spot an awesome little cheapie, and everything will fit one of my BJDs perfectly. Rumor has it that's the case with the Tonner (?) Harry Potter dolls (though unfortunately, they're not cheap).

    14. oh dude, i did that before. i bought a porcelai doll for like $20, ripped her apart, took her wig out, her eyes out AND dress out.
i transformed her into a ghost-moster thing to haunt jillian in her dreams
poor thing, i did feel bad. =\

    15. That was fun xD

    16. I do it a lot too...with clothes, wigs, whatever.
I just donate the left over doll to Goodwill. ^_^

    17. I haven't kitbashed any other dolls yet... but Harumatsu was wearing Bruno the stuffed lion's sweater the other day. ^_^

    18. I've done this with haloween decorations and with Christmas ones XD It was fun seeing my Bee-A hug a perfectly sized Santa while dressed in her own Christmas hat...

    19. heh heh heh. XD Walgreens had some cheap porcelain dolls 2 for $10. lol I almost got some, but it would have freaked my friend out.

    20. I do it all the time. I call it "harvesting" a doll. I bought two Jan McLean dolls on Ebay for cheap (relatively speaking) and I took their clothes, shoes, eyes, wigs, socks and undies for my girls. Then the harvested dolls go into my studio for a creepy doll makeover. Just call me Dr. Frankenstein.
