1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Reactions to your dolls?

Jun 27, 2014

    1. So I noticed when people see your dolls you get one of the following reactions:

      • People smile and think that they are cool, but wouldn't get one.
      • People want one immediately!
      • Or they are fully creeped out! They ask you to move them out of sight, so when they sleep over, they won't get scared (most common reaction my friends tell me).

What reactions do you get? And how does it make you feel?

    2. I've had the 'think they are cool but wouldn't get one' but mostly get the "How much?! That's crazy" comments when they finally ask that question of price.

I don't mind telling them how much my dolls cost as I don't really care what they think. I'm very happy with my purchases so far and think the price I pay more than adds up to the amount of happiness, potential and awesomeness each doll has.

    3. Mostly ignored but the ones that come up to me say they are cool and ask what they are or if I make them.
The local bookstore customers know me and my dolls and are okay with them and like to see them.

    4. There's also those who will smile politely, but be indifferemt, and those who will smile politely, but think it's really weird for an adult to own dolls.

Most of my friends and family members fit these categories, though occassionally someone may think a doll is neat in passing.

    5. Lots of times, when at meetups, it's--

      • Are those for sale? Are you selling those?
      • People want one immediately!
      • People ask about them--where they can get one, find out more info, etc.
      • Just ignore the strange group with their dolls...

Most people asking about the dolls are surprised that we are just owners getting together. They seem to think we'd only get together to buy/sell dolls, not just hang out and talk about and look at dolls. I guess it's the whole "how do you play with dolls?" thing. It's not easy to figure out even for people who like bjds...!

Usually the people stopping to look are interested and nice, and some are really into it and honestly want to know more, or are very admiring... so it's usually very cool.

    6. My family members thought it was interesting..They said they felt like they were at a science fair with how quickly I was firing off answers to questions. They were impressed.

    7. I and some of members from German forum like to do a Doll Meet at a public park or garden where...so many children and seniors :) Seniors like to come and watch, then smile to us. But the teenagers or middle age people feel a bit creepy (I guess from their face) and children..."Papa, is that marionette show? I want to watch!!" :| So...this is what happened.

    8. I tend to creep people out with my big boy Azrael because well...he's supposed to be possessed. 'Nuff said. My two little anthros tend to get the "Aww, how cute!" comments.

    9. I don't take my dolls on every day errands, mainly because it rains here so much!
Lol, I live in a rainforest after all. ;-D

However, I do take Lue with me whenever I travel, and we've yet to receive a negative comment or remark from anyone.
Here are some of the more interesting responses:

Stewardess on a plane, "Oh, what a cute doll, she's lovely!"
(Lue happens to be a boy, and he was wearing a man's three piece suit and a tie at the time! ^_~)

TSA agent, looking slightly bewildered, and being totally serious, asked, "Is it some kind of religious object?"
(Lue travels in his black, coffin shaped, doll carrier, and again he was dressed in a suit and tie, a very formal black one.)
(I'm still wondering what he was thinking when he asked me that, lol.)
(I just remembered, Lue was also clasping a bouquet of tiny purple and wine colored silk roses, too. ^_~)

Fellow convention goer in the dealer's room at Worldcon, "Wow! Neat, it's a mini you!"
(Mind you, Lue happens to be a Volks MSD Kohaku. ^_^)
(Now, we were both wearing black, two completely different outfits, but they were both black. :-D)
(Oh, and we both had black hair, and I suppose you could say that our hairstyles were slightly similar. ;-D)

      LOL ^_^

    10. I have gotten all 3 of them^^ I have 4 friends come into my room once and they said "ooh how cute/weird/cool/scary they are" but they wouldn't get one because after saying that they said "but how can you sleep in the same room as them? I'd be freaked out"

Then there was a friend of my mom who was visiting during the summer and she saw one of my SDs, she was crazy for him! o_o asking all kinds of questions (I felt quite happy to see her interest) but then she proceeded to say things like "I wish I had one, I'd dress in wonderful clothes and the thought of making it my own way thrills me" it came to a point that she wanted me to give her my doll =_=

And there are those who said "that's creepy", also, some of them didn't even show any negative or positive interest, it was like they never saw the dolls XD then again, they know me for being weird so I guess they just thought 'creepy things, typical of her'
