Roleplaying your dolls with other hobbyists

I just got my first doll so I've never rpd with anyone but I'm not averse to it.

 

I haven't (yet), but as I'm a rpg geek anyway I guess I'd give it a try.

 

I would, if I had a doll, but I don't know many doll rpgers, so I don't think that'll happen any time soon, however, I'd probable wouldn't do it too often.

 

I RP my dolls almost every single night on IM with my bff. I'm somewhat open to rping with others, but I have had some rather negative experiences that kind of turned me off of it for awhile. If I were to accept new rp partners, they'd have to be a good fit with my RP style and characters, and be willing to stick to a long term story line with regular play.

 

My situation is very similar to CloakedSchemer's. I have some long-standing RP friends and RP with them regularly. I have also had some experiences that were okay but the RPs just fizzled, and I have had some extremely negative experiences that made me consider give up RP completely. I'm always looking for new people to RP with my characters but I'm kind of picky about who I RP with and because of my past bad experiences I can sometimes be shy about approaching people myself. There are a couple of threads around here somewhere for people who are looking for doll RP partners, and I'm guessing this thread will spawn a few more new RPs too.

I'm an old-school dice-and-paper RPG player and GM, and many of my crew are resin versions of past favorite tabletop and MMO RPG characters... but I just don't have any interest what so ever in OC-fic free-form, and that's essentially what "dolly RP" seems to come down to. I did dabble a little bit with the shared-world/doll-characters-in-a-relationship thing with a friend when I was much newer to the hobby, which was RP of a sort, I suppose... but in the end it was much more her 'thing' than mine.

I'm happier sticking to my funky dice and pile of Exalted books...

RE: The RP threads... They're probably long gone and deleted. DoA has been pretty clear for some years now about NOT being a "dolly-RP" site. It's all about the physical dolls, not the characters owners assign to them, and so that sort of thing really doesn't belong here. Honestly, I'm a little surprised this thread itself hasn't been locked.

 

*U* all my dolls are characters from the story I'm writing/roleplaying with my best friend~ We rp daily so all of them get their fair amount of "screen time"~ I don't generally rp with others because to do so I would have to drag their characters into any of our pre-established multiverse worlds somehow and just attempting to explain that to someone usually takes... a good while...

 

Some of my dolls are based on characters that I do roleplay, but I don't think I've ever actually played with other doll-owners, besides my partner! I don't do much original character roleplay these days, either, so that might be why. A lot of my dolls are female, too, and I just don't write girls very well. I wouldn't be adverse to the idea or anything, it just hasn't really come up.

 

I used to. I enjoyed it at the time, but it isn't something I enjoy anymore, so I no longer engage in the activity.

 

I put my RP characters into dolls - I don't use my dolls as RP characters. Not trying to be facetious, but I feel there is a significant enough difference between the two.

I used to RP my OCs with old friends. I no longer speak to them, and am finding it hard to find anyone to RP with again.

 

I RP my dolls characters a lot...Probably more then I sew for my own dolls like every day if possible. I like it because I get to stick them into situations you just can't photograph.

 

I did years ago when all my doll had their own myspace, it was quite hard for me to keep up with as I like time on my own when I'm on the net, surfing around. I'm not really into IMing. It became bothersome the more dolls I acquired.

 

I don't rp with dolls or anything else. Not my thing, but if other people want to I don't care.

 

Keeping this short and sweet (Since my original was deleted and I don't feel like retyping it).

Multiple idiots/flakers/TWs + Long period of time = Very little patience left for RPs. Not to say I would keep experiencing said announces,it's just kind of soiled my enjoyment of RPs.

 

I haven't RP'd in a very long time but it's something I would definitely do. I love the character I have for my doll, and there's nothing I would enjoy more than to flesh her out into a story with someone else's. I think it would be fun. I think it would be interesting, and I think that it would probably make me become that much more attached to her.
