Running Trends In Clothing

Mar 16, 2014

    1. I'm curious if anyone else has sort of a running trend with clothing? IE All my dolls but my new one have kimonos...and I plan on three of the four having school uniforms.

    2. I have noticed that styles seem cyclical as in the real world. It was fantasy for a while, then morphed into goth, to punk/grunge and so on. I'd love to have school uniforms for my boys but they're 70 cm and I think I'd prolly have top commission them.

    3. Yea that might be a little hard to find haven't tried so not sure though.

    4. For the most part my dolls wear comfortable casual clothes. Leggings, t-shirts, hoodies, that sort of thing. I'm not sure if I would call that a particular "trend" with my dolls though.... mostly I just buy them the stuff that I would want to wear if I was them.

    5. I don't think mine will have a particular trend, so to speak, but I can't speak for personalities that haven't made it home yet. Haha. My girl once she gets here may just pull something off so well I can't overlook it or she'll love everything I put on her, who knows.

    6. Mine have wardrobes, right now they are in evening wear, likely next it will be jeans and tees. They go thru rotations -- I might put all of them into Medieval or Renaissance or folk costumes. I try to dress all of them in related styles -- usually takes a day or two to get the crew done.

    7. Most of mine are teens, and wear either pop star, rapper or hipster/preppy type clothes. I have a few that break the trend, but in general, modern casual.

    8. I dress my dolls in whatever catches my fancy (and will fit them, of course!). But I do have one rule: all my boys need at least one suit.

    9. My two dolls have Gyaru clothing and face-ups. I mainly purchase all their stuff from Kaleidoll.
They all have different shades of Urethane brown eyes, and they all wear heels.

    10. I dress my girls in what I think fits their personalities, & so far I have one that is all girly & all about pretty dresses, one that is more on the comfy side of things with dresses, overalls, & cute stuff, & my last girl loves just about anything that is gray or black.

Sadly I have let my own feelings get in the way & I've bought stuff that I like, & no one wants to wear it, because it was too trendy in their eyes, & they did not want to dress like everyone else.

Everything worked out well because I was able to rehome the stuff to people & dolls that really wanted the stuff...thanks the MP & other places. So we could buy more shoes which no one here thinks they have enough, as well as pay off some pain in the rump medical bills.;)

    11. Well usually the clothes for any of my dolls goes with the character itself, my very first bjd wore mostly classy clothes cause his character wears clothes like this.
I don't have any particular trends in clothing, unless the nurses uniform or doctor uniform does it counts

    12. My boy has the fullset clothes he came in, but I don't usually dress him in that, it's mostly just casual for him, and I'm planning the next few dolls I get to just have casual and simple clothing too... I need to think of something more fun orz

    13. All of my Lati Yellow girls require a hoodie that represents their personality, they're often commissioned so they're just right for them. :) It's a rite of passage in my dolly household for every Lati Yellow to have her own signature hoodie.

    14. i like to make my girls wear white flowy nighties or loose pajamas, so right now they all look like little ghosts

    15. My dolls wear whatever I can find or make for them (since the online clothes shops and commissions are too pricey for me), so mostly they wear modern casual wear since that's what I can find the most patterns for. As I progress in skill I hope that maybe their styles will branch out more but so far they all look pretty stylish to me.

Lolita still seems pretty popular and I believe Fairy Kei and Mori are starting to become pretty big. Personally I'd like to see more K-pop inspired clothes. I love the outfits Shinee and SuJu wear in their music videos. :fangirl:

    16. My current trend seems to follow modern casual. I'd like to get at least a few nice outfits, but for the most part, I expect my doll will sit around in shorts, cute tops, and sneakers.

    17. This is pretty much the same with my dolls. Their clothing style depends very much on the character. Most of my 'human' doll characters are average modern-day young men and women, so they wear mostly jeans, sneakers and casual tops. One of my girls prefers dresses. My non-human characters each have a style all their own. I don't think any of my dolls really fit into a 'trend' in terms of style.

    18. Like others said, mine depends on my characters. Ardese likes business casual and a little bit of male lolita (nothing super frilly though), Merchant is probably going to be wearing fantasy-styled clothes and clothes a wandering traveller would wear, and Shu is going to be wearing cutesy things and probably whatever reflects real-life trends as he's going to be my boy that I dress however I feel.

    19. My dolls are all over the style spectrum, but the other day I noticed that quite a few are dressed in black and white. I didn't plan it that way but they do all look good together :)

    20. My dolls generally have 'in character' outfits they wear some of the time, and then the rest of the time they wear modern-ish clothing I like or Mori styled clothes I would wear myself. I don't really have clothes for my dolls in a style that I would never wear. I suppose it's a bit of a wasted opportunity to not use your dolls to try out styles you wouldn't wear normally, but it's not an avenue I've gone down yet. Can't rule it out though!
