1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Seams on tinies

May 7, 2015

    1. Hey! So since I'm a newbie and I noticed there wasn't a specific thread made about this, I've decided to make one to help out other newbies.:daisy

To all the tiny collectors! Have you noticed your doll has seams? And if not (or if) what doll do you have? :3

    2. I have only tinies and most of them have seams. My dolls from Dollzone, Xaga Doll, Dollmore Banji, and D.I.M. do not. The ones from Fairyland, Dikadoll, Soom, and Lume do have visible seams. The seam lines are minimally noticeable on my Fairyland Puki Pukis and Real Pukis.

    3. Are the seams particularly bothersome? Or can you do away without sanding it? I believe that beginners like me tend to like to avoid these hassles.

    4. My tinies all have seams and I have a Littlefee, Soom Teenie and Luts tinies. They don't bother me in any way. I didn't even think about them until some one else asked about seams a few months ago. I suppose I just took them with the territory. The only seams I would consider sanding are ones that stick out enough to cut skin or snag clothing and I haven't had that happen yet.

    5. I wouldn't bother sanding the seams on my Fairyland dolls, as they are hardly noticeable unless I look for them. I'd like to even them out on my bigger dolls though.

    6. I've not been collecting dolls for long, so I'm not sure what is meant by seams. Is it where you can see markings where they have left the mould? I don't even know if my dolls have them; I've been too mesmerised by love to see flaws.

    7. Come to think of it, none of my dolls do? (They're 4 Dreamhigh Studio dolls, one Pipos Bao, and an off topic Dollzone.) If you study them very close you can find one or two places where you can tell the seam line used to be, but they've all been sanded very nicely before they ever got to me.

    8. It's where the parts of the mold come together, usually along the side of the resin piece (leg, torso, etc). Tends to look like a raised or irregular line, or in some cases might be mistaken for a crack in the resin. It's not, it's just excess resin from along where the mold comes together. It's sometimes called a parting line or gate line. Some companies remove the seams before sending their dolls, but most do not. Darker/colored resin dolls normally have seams, because sanding will often discolor the darker/colored resin.

In ten years of being in this hobby and the many tiny bjds I own or have handled, I've only ever had one set of dolls who had seams so bad they bothered me enough to sand them (Customhouse, at the end when most of their product was garbage). None of the others have been bad enough for me to care.

    9. My tan Pukifees all have some seams - which is to be expected - but they're not bad. My white resin PKF Luna has one seam on her thigh that's a little prominent. but it won't show unless she does a nude photo shoot, which isn't her style. :)
