It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. should i keep the doll box or thrown them away?

Oct 20, 2014

    1. I pretty much have my 2 dolls that are in the doll boxes and soon to buy doll carrier so when ever i want to travel with them it isn't in the way although i love the boxes then thrown them away. I wonder should i keep the box or ( hate to say the word throw it away) :(

    2. I keep all mine- you never know if you'll wind up selling or trading a doll one day, or if you move. Plus I love boxes. I think there was a thread once dedicated to how to store doll boxes

    3. Most people try to keep their boxes, for the reasons skyealloway mentions. I try to keep them all, but sometimes when the box is really generic like the ones DollsTown or SQlabs use, they occassionally get tossed out because my storage space is already crammed full of boxes that have been broken down flat and bundled together.
The box storage thread is still archived here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?2718-Where-do-you-keep-your-BJDs-boxes

    4. I normally get rid of mine, unless the box or doll is special for some reason (LE, discontinued, box is extra super nice, doll is commonly known to be recasted and I will need the box as proof of being legit if I decide to sell, etc). I have almost no storage space in my house, and I own over 25 dolls, I just don't have room for that many boxes! Not to mention, many of my dolls are hybrids or secondhand (or both) and I never had their box. I think the only boxes I currently have are my BlueBlood tan Waltz (LE), Iplehouse Stella (important if I sell), AoD Gu (the character was my first doll ever) and Doll Leaves body (the character was my second doll ever). Oh and a container for my Migidoll head, since it takes up no space. I just don't remember if it was for the Ell or Jina head....

    5. I throw them out after a few months, I sometimes give them away to my mom or someone who needs cardboard boxes. but they take up too much space to keep for too long. I just file away the certificates

    6. I always try to keep my doll boxes, esp if the dolls are commonly recast like Cloakedschemer mentioned. They're great for moving and storing dolls. I've only thrown them out when water damaged. Some of my dolls were secondhand and didn't have boxes, but since I kept boxes from previously owned dolls that the buyers didn't want I still have boxes for them. I have lots of storage space though so it's not a huge issue for me. They sit on a shelf in the basement right now. :)

    7. I recycle mine. I really just don't have room >.<

    8. I keep mine, they are stuffed under my bed in the guest room

    9. I keep all of mine (at least for those that came with proper boxes, anyway). I move fairly regularly, and they're perfect for protecting dolls in transit and during the unloading/unpacking stages. They're all neatly "tetrised" under my bed right now, with some of the smaller ones nested inside larger ones where I'm able; with all the boxes I've got currently, they still take up only a little less than half the under-bed space, though there's two new ones to work under there again...:sweat

    10. I keep mine--but I can totally understand those who do not, since they take up a lot of space!

If you are someone who buys and sells their dolls frequently, it's probably best to keep the boxes--particularly these days when they help prove you don't have a re-cast doll.

Maybe take a photo with your user-name and date in the photo and keep it for reference and to maybe show it as proof if you can't keep the boxes and might possibly sell the doll at some point???

    11. I can't bring myself to throw them away, but I wish I would.
If there is any chance, any chance at all, that you may later want to sell them, keep them.

    12. You should definitely keep the boxes if you can and have the space to do so.

You only have two dolls at the moment, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem at this point -even if you get another doll in the future. Boxes might clutter a corner of your house, even when neatly stacked, but it is super important that you keep them.

Remember that if you ever sell or trade any of your dolls, their value might be lessened by the fact that they don't have their original boxes......or papers for that matter. You never know which finicky, potential buyer might not like a doll that doesn't come with its original box or paperwork.

As mentioned before, if you keep your doll's original boxes and paperwork, they will also help you in case someone might question their legitimacy, and currently legitimacy is a big and important issue within the community. Inaddition, you will have a safe, sturdy place to store them if you travel with more than two dolls. Carry bags are awesome, but traveling with a couple of them can become chaotic if they are different shapes and are made from lesssturdy materials.

For a while, I kept my doll's boxes under my bed, but recently I've stacked them in a closet where they still take some room. I own 7 dolls at the moment and I have 4 big boxes for my 1/3 dolls, 1 medium box for my 1/4 doll, 1 smallbox for my 1/6 doll, and 1 small carrier bag for another 1/6 doll. Impldoll bjds only come with carrier bags, but I wouldn't trust their design to keep them safe, so I keep my Impldoll Akasha's shipper box as an added layer ofprotection. I have limited space in my house, and most of the time the dolls are kept inside their respective boxes, so protecting them is my top priority.

Plus, you never know when you'll need a box;)

    13. I agree with Lady Alexiel. Since I have the space, I keep the boxes, including the outer shipping box. It is understandable if you don't have room and don't want them, but you might try. Also, some creative folk have mentioned using them for wardrobes for doll things, so the boxes have uses.

    14. I tend to keep my boxes because I have to put my dolls away for holidays when my family comes to my house. I don't trust all the little kids or even a lot of the adults. Some of my family members know their value and don't touch but most of my family sees something and just pick it up without asking. I rarely let my own mom to touch them so someone touching my stuff without permisson is definitely a pet peeve of mine.

    15. Always keep boxes your dolls come in. Most buyers that I have known want their dolls in their own boxes with their certificates.

    16. I keep all my doll boxes. Most of them have pictures of the doll on them which makes it easy to identify the doll inside for long term storage. Plus most of them are well constructed and have pillows so I fell like I can store them up on a high shelf without risk of doll being damaged if they fall.
When I only had one doll of each size, I would store my dolls clothes in the box for each doll.

I can understand not wanting to keep them if you have no space but it usually makes shipping dolls less anxious if you sell. And if you really don't want to keep them, but feel a little guilty about getting rid of them, you could try putting them in the marketplace for the cost of shipping (or ask if any locals would like them). Just make sure to keep any paperwork.

    17. Having the collection I do, I found out early on that keeping every single doll's box just wasn't going to work. Even flattened, they took up way too much of my already-limited storage space. So, I didn't keep most of them. I kept a few of the more elaborate or special ones, but the majority went into the recycle bin almost immediately.

That said, I assembled most of my crew in the days before "OMG!AnyDollWithoutABoxAndCoAIsARecast!" became the mantra of the marketplace, so keeping every scrap of potentially-identifiable cardboard seemed much less important than it might now, if I were new to the hobby and paranoid about being able to prove air-tight provenance to potential future buyers.

    18. I keep mine. That way I have a for sure way to prove their authenticity and because I love seeing all of the different designs. I try to stack them inside of each other when I store. (DD body box fits in DF-A box, which fits in Loongsoul box) so far they all fit in my closet.

    19. I keep mine if possible. I've lost one once...but normally I would do my best to keep them around just in case I decide to sell. Atm I only have PW dolls, and they come in really pretty green-blue boxes that shimmers. So they are very decorative and I use them for storing stuff and have placed them on top of my bookshelves. ^^

    20. I keep mine too (only the company boxes) I have them stored in the closet, but you never know when you might need them. It was nice to have them when I was moving. And like other people said before, I also keep them for if I ever wanted to re-sell a doll.
