1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Silica Packets Question

Jan 1, 2014

    1. I couldn't find this particular topic anywhere, and if it's in the wrong place, i'm sorry, and feel free to move :)

I've been doing some thinking about how to protect the dolls that I have that are in storage for the time being, would it be safe, questionable, unacceptable, or anything else you can think of, to place a silica packet inside the box of the stored said doll?

I don't mean right on top of it or beside it or touching it in anyway, but kind of propped between the pillow and the box? I've recently got a different type of doll that was just plastic not resin that had that within the box that was sent to me.

My question essentially is, is it safe? Should I do it to protect from moisture? Any ideas or thoughts would be great

    2. If you put the silica packets under the doll's pillows it shouldn't be a problem at all. You can also buy silica that comes in a kind of tin with holes in it that doesn't absorb any moisture until you break the seal (my sister got these for our camera bags). It's not going to hurt the dolls. The resin itself probably isn't going to suffer much from a little moisture but you would want to keep the fabrics and elastics from getting manky.

    3. If you have an issue with humidity, this would be a good idea to prevent mildew. If you don't (have an issue with humidity), it probably wouldn't hurt anything.
