storing MSD sized doll clothes Ideas

Jun 3, 2010

    1. I want to keep my clothes like my tiny clothes. Basically, for my tiny tinies, I can put them in those card collector's pages where clear pockets are in a page that goes in a notebook. I can stick an artical of clothing in each pocket (sometimes two) and flip through the pages choosing what I want. I can organize outfits this way as well.

Now I want to do a similar thing with MSD clothes. I don't care if it's a big book, but I was wondering if anyone can think of a way to do this?

Only Idea so far, is for pencil holders holding items or whole outifts, in a notebook

I'm wondering if scrapbooking people have larger folders/notebooks and more streamlined containers (er... like a zippered pencil holder type thing) I just like flipping through some holder to search organized clothes than digging through boxes with ziplocked outfits!

Any better ideas? I have so many clothes now, I'm amazed!

    2. Maybe you can use clearbooks?

    3. mini moon has her clothes in rubbermaid bin for now.

    4. Ohh! Ingie, putting them in a book when you can flip them is an amazing idea! I have my doll clothes in hand-made shelves, but putting them in files will save alot of space! *plots plots*

    5. That's a great idea. I don't know if it will work with msd stuff. Sole non bulky things sure. But not frilly dresses or outfits with embelishments.

    6. Yah, I got my clothes in the plastic sacks or ziplocks in a plastic drawer stand thingy but it's hard to look through everything, and find what you want or to browse, 'cause I have a memory problem and forget what I have for them to wear! It's just messy and not fun, LOL

aiushtha, I wonder if those are tough vinyl or something so I can put bulky clothes in there and not see them tear to shreds? But yah, that's the idea I'm thinking of. What do you think of it? It's much easier with Puki and elfdoll tiny size clothes, LOL.

Yah, bulletsBANQ, it also makes it fun to go through and see what ya got without digging in boxes which I hate (hence wanting to do this)

That's my problem, Kittywolf... I did find an online shop that sells bulk pencil pouches (the kind with netting over the top of one side) You could kinda see what is inside I guess but it wouldn't be easy to browse.... but it'd hold bulky things... so hard to decide. I don't have that much money to spend... This is what I'vefound so far:

bulk pencil pouches Or this one?
Pros: Looks like they'd hold bulky stuff as it looks flexible.
Cons: Not sure how strong it is? They sure don't give much info about them and I seem to remember having one something like this and it tore easily, but is it the same??

This one seems to be sturdy, made of canvas, as long as the zippre doesn't break.

      Pros: strong
Cons: hard to see into the mesh, so browsing wouldn't be as nice and expensive

This seems to be my favorite so far because it's clear, easy to see what's in there and it clames to be such thick vinyl that sharp scissors won't poke through it?

    7. Ah, those clearbooks/ring binders I mentioned aren't really sturdy. XD They're quite flimsy and can only hold thick paper haha! But I'm not sure. You can check out your local bookstore to check for yourself. C:

    8. Yah, I think I'm gonna order something soon now. In a very short time, I've collected a lot of clothes and it's becoming ungainly! Another choice / idea would be to make an armoire, either litterally or figuratively, and hang stuff up. just that most stuff doesn't lend itself to hanging... but it would make it, like the notebook, easier to browse....

    9. Ikea is my doll clothing savior :)

    10. Those card holders you were talking about are really handy, and they make the same thing for larger cards like photos and postcards. I think it's three slots per sheet (two vertical, one horizontal.)

They are pretty inexpensive and you can usually find them at office supply stores. It's nice to be able to buy the sheets separate and them put them in a binder.

Also, try looking into DVD storage sleeves as well. They usually come in a booklet or some kind of stylish bin, and flipping through them is easy and convenient.

    11. Oh yah? Whadaya do? :)

I chickened out of the zip packet thingies so far cause of the price... I just have no monies at the moment :( Have to pay for an expensive repair part :(

Oh man, that's an excellent idea! See? I knew new insights would pop up if I made a thread :D I love this idea alot! If my mini stuff is still to big for this, I know it's good for my tiny stuff!

    12. Ziplock style bags are probably going to be the key to flat storage of bulkier mini clothes... I find that since you can press the air out of them, you can get even frilly dresses to lie fairly flat and take up a lot less space. Of course, if there's a hole punched in the bag it wouldn't do the same thing... maybe the zip bags inside of a clear file or something like that? I keep mine in one of those desktop storage boxes with drawers (similar to this) but it's not the best solution as I can only fit a few outfit-bags per drawer in the kind I have, since the drawers are pretty shallow. And you can't flip through outfits as easily since you have to take all the bags out if you want to see what's at the bottom, etc.
