Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Tan bjds!

Mar 12, 2014

    1. How do you guys feel about tan bjds?

I personally adore them and hope one day I can afford to get this one little cutie I've been looking at (butitsprobablynotgonnahappen)

    2. I don't happen to own any myself, I wish a couple of the guys I have had had a tan option but they only came in NS. What's not to love about a tan doll?

    3. Ah I'd loved to have gotten my doll in tan but like you he didn't have that option / o \
absolutely nothing! Tan dolls are very beautiful and crafted very well most of the time

    4. I have 2 tan dolls (and 1 floating ta head) as well as dolls in other colours. One tan is a lovely butterscotchy colour (AoD from 2008) and the other is a dark chocolate brown (RS from 2012). There's some really nice tans out there.

    5. I love tan bjds when it looks like a natural. I have several from different places. My preference is for Iplehouse's tan range (peach gold, real skin, light brown, ebony) because they look real. They work for the suntanned look and naturally darker skin. I'm not a fan of the fake spray tan look I see in other companies.

    6. I haven't seen much stuff from Iplehouse (if any at all) so I'll have to check them out! The color names sound really nice so I can only imagine the actual colors are really pretty.

Butterscotchy sounds really nice, I'm really interested as to what that looks like!

i wish I could remember what company this one doll was from, his tan option reminded me of cinnamon and it's was one of the most beautiful doll I had ever seen / u \

    7. I hope posting a picture is allowed in this thread. This is Moswen (AoD tan Chi) and Kijika (AoD/LE Doll collab Adonis NY). AoD has stopped offering their tan but it is lovely and the colour has remained very stable/true. The tan floating head I have is also AoD and was made at the same time and the two are still more or less the same colour with the head remaining in a light-proof box from basically the day I got it (it was a free head event and AoD accidentally sent me a tan head instead of a NY like I asked) and Moswen going all over the place (he's my favourite).

    8. I have a Bobobie Apollo from 2009 that has their light tan skin and I love it! I don't think it has changed in the past (almost) three years that I've had him, which is surprising since I take him out a lot. My other dolls look pale compared to him, because he almost looks like he has a suntan. It complements his silver hair so nicely. I would love to have a doll with a darker tan color, but I'm done buying dolls for quite a while!

    9. pictures are perfectly fine, in fact I encourage it! I'd love to see other peoples dolls, so post away please!

ah he sounds lovely, Bobobie dolls are super cute!
same here with buying, I'm still broke from buying my first bjd last summer / u \ =3 he was worth it though

    10. I have one on the way (Pipos Lloyd, Sienna Skin) and planning to purchase one probably tomorrow night (KDF Bory, Real Skin Brown)! I'm so excited~

    11. Ooo awesome! You'll have to post pics of them when you get them(if you want to)!

    12. I have one, but I understand they fade quicker than any other. I don't know how true that is :)

    13. I have a tan doll from April Story, a Spring Girl - though I don't think they offer that color option for her anymore, sadly!
I really love her, and I'm planning to have more tan dolls in the future.

When it comes to tan dolls, I really like contrast - darker skin with lighter hair, eyes, or makeup. It's the same for light-skinned dolls - I prefer them to have darker characteristics to balance their lighter skin.

Good luck on getting your little cutie, you can do it! ;)

    14. I definitely will! The Pipos order should be shipping out any time soon so I'm just playing the waiting game and fidgeting a lot, LOL.

    15. I love my tan dolls!

      My tan(ish) list:
-Elfdoll Aden- homme skin (more of a darker NS, really)
      -IslandDoll Louis- neutral beige
      -Iplehouse Stella- peach gold
      -BlueBlood Doll Watlz- LE tan
      -IslandDoll Eric- tan
-Soom Ender- brown tan on DikaDoll tan body
      -Mirodoll SD girl- burnt sugar
      -Jie Doll Michel- chocolate
      -Iplehouse Aaron- LE dk
      -Impldoll Bella- dark tan

None of them match each other, haha, but I love the diversity of color!

    16. They are the best and I only buy tan or sun kissed or darkest tan BJD. I might buy a "white" doll if she is an elf and has a superior face up.
I do not like Fair or Creme. They don't sell well on the secondary market either.

Im not an artist and won't be painting anything on my dolls so i love the skin tone!!!! Obsessed with it actually!
Probably because I am porcelain pale :(

    17. Chaeri is my only tan doll, but I adore her with all my heart. The hardest thing about tan BJDs is matching skin tone between heads and bodies from different companies. What one company considers "tan" is barely darker than "normal" skin from another company, while yet another company's tan resin is dark enough to pass for a doll of color. Internet photos don't really help much. But they're worth the effort. I gambled when I got Riri's new body, but the Volks tan actually matches her head pretty well, and I'm very satisfied with her.

    18. Love everything but the extra cost XD Although IslandDoll's pretty affordable even with the fees.

I never thought about getting one because I never had a character that would call for it, but lately I've been thinking I could add a Debbie Hemlock to my Shanlings. May be getting my first tan doll if I decide to go for it.

    19. Tan resin is wonderful and it's great to photograph as you don't have to worry about them looking washed out. I have five tan boys. My faves are Iplehouse special real and Ringdolls tan as they are just gorgeous.

    20. I looooove looking at tan dolls. I want to get a tan boy soon :)
