Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. I'm curious about whether or not folks with tattoos are more inclined to add them to their dolls.

So: Do you have tattoos, and if so, does your doll? Do you have a doll with tats but don't want/have any yourself, or do both you and your doll(s) have the same kind of skin art or lack thereof?

Just kinda popped into my head and I thought I'd ask.

    2. I don't know that it made me more inclined to add tattoos to my dolls because I planned on getting one. Both my dolls' that have tattoos had theirs before I had my own. I don't have tattoos that match theirs or visa versa. However, the faery on my arm tat has the same shade of teal-blue shirt that my BBB Sprite's top is in. Her character is a faery, and the doll is 1:1 scale to the character. Total coincidence. When we chose the colour at the time to add it I just pointed and said, "That one!! It's perfect!" I didn't notice until afterward, and my artist thought it was a funny coincidence.

    3. At this point neither me nor my resin have tattoos, but I have three that are supposed to have them, and I want to get one someday. They won't be related tattoos, though.

    4. Uhm, I don't THINK I'll ever get a tattoo, but I really like what you can do with them, and at least two of my dolls ill have them.

    5. I have one tattoo and have another planned when I have the cash. My dolls don't have any though! I may give my new girl one. I am so picky about them just like I am for my own tattoos. Though I know you can wipe them off if you want to change em on a doll, I still do not have that mindset, and I cannot choose just the right one for my lovely Lavender! They certainly will not be matching though.

    6. I'm a total ink addict. I love tattoos, and I love getting them. It only stands to reason that my dolls have/will have tattoos as well. Not all of my dolls have/will have tats - in fact, less than half.

    7. I have one tattoo, am planning to get more eventually. As for my dolls, the ones who have the right personalities for it will have tattoos but not the rest!

    8. One of my dolls is covered in tattoos, but the other four aren't. His charater just suits it, whereas the others don't (One is too young, one is supernatural and incorporeal, and the other two just don't have any).

I'm quite heavily tattooed now - And getting heavier. Slave to the needle indeed!

    9. Being over the hill and even through most of the woods I will not get a tattoo as afraid of needles plus at this stage in life would be silly for me anyway. But my resin kids have the advantage of being frozen in time, never really get older or have the pain of gaining weight or losing weight due to an illness. So their tattoos will look as good as they did day one.

    10. I've got a few tattoos myself, and would actually like some of my boys to have some for their characters, but I know I won't get them any. I hate coating on doll bodies, and I know I'd need to get the tattoos touched up when either the joints rubbed the paint off, or the coating began wearing off, or something. It'd drive me crazy the minute the tattoos started to show wear, and I'd just pull out the Windsor & Newton and take the whole thing off. Sooooo, there's not really much point in me even trying to get some ink for my dollies. :B

    11. animemom : which hill? ;) I think I'm on the downslope as well.

No tats for me because of the way I scar, and I have no objections to tattoos in general. I don't have any plans for them on my dolls though because they would need to mean something to me -- and so far, no inspiration in that direction.

    12. I don't have/will not get tattoos myself. Fear of needles, the fact that they're nigh-permanent and my mind is really not... the fact that I just have never liked them, my wussiness about pain, potential ill effects (what if I have a weird allergy to the ink? What if I did something wrong/forgot aftercare instructions and got infected? What if it messes up my personal chi?), the fact that they'd look weird and awful on my flabby frame, and so on and so forth.

I have friends who've gotten some amazing beautiful ink done, and it's great for them, or for anyone with a love for the tats, but it's not for me.

Right now, I just have the one-and-a-head at home, and he's not getting any, nor are the next two I'm saving for, but I wouldn't rule it out for a future acquisition, if there's a doll whose character would be tattooed. It's something I'll have to think about... At least with the dolls, if I change my mind, I can wipe it, no fuss. I've seen really gorgeous dolly tattoos which make me think I'd like a future doll to get one just because I've seen some of the awesome work people have done...

      =^__^=

    13. I'm heavily tattooed myself- but my dolls have no tattoos at all. Tattoos would simply not fit in with my dolls style.

    14. I have one tattoo myself and one doll with one tattoo. The reason none of us (me and my dolls) have more, is because designing tattoos is so much work and painting the tattoos on my dolls is even more work. :sweat

    15. I don't have any, nor do I plan to do any for my doll. Mostly because I'm incredibly picky about tattoos. I need them to be symmetrical. Tattoos on a single limb are a no. So are very simple ones, or ones of objects. I need them to be somewhat abstract or very stylized. They also need to be incredibly well done because I think such a permanent piece of art shouldn't be flawed.

That last point is the main reason my doll won't ever have any since I don't think I have the technical skill to apply something I'd be happy with to him. My drawing style is also highly unsuited to the sort of tattoos I like; I draw very simple, concrete things with bold outlines and bright colors. I'm no good with abstract stuff. And I'd rather not send him out for a commissioned tattoo, since I'm trying to do most of the customization myself.

    16. I don't have any tattoos myself, but some of my dolls do/will (once I have the right weather to add them, anyway!) I'd LIKE to get a tattoo or 2, but am a total chicken when it comes to needles. So...going THROUGH with getting a tattoo is NOT too likely for me at this point in my life. I think that is WHY I like to put tattoos on some of my dolls. Not only does it fit their characters, but it's a way to do tattoos that I've designed, or just really like (from Temp tattoo packages) where I'm too chicken to get them myself.

    17. I think the poll is a little confusing, but I'm not going to go too into that.

I felt that there should've been a segment of the poll where a person doesn't have tattoos, but are willing to let their dolls have one. I would fit into that category much better than saying that I have no tattoos, and my dolls won't have them, because I've no objection to giving a doll a tattoo (though I will admit, I'd be super aprehensive about doing it because I don't know how...), and I don't have an objection to getting one one day, but it's not something I care about too much.

A really well-done tattoo is nice to see on BJDs.

    18. I don't have any tattoos but some of my dolls do. ;)

    19. I have a few tattoos, my dolls don't. While tattoos on skin are more or less permanent, 'tattoos' on resin aren't, and it would annoy me to no end if it chipped. The type of tattoos I like are those that are big enough to span over torso joints...so chipping would be inevitable. It's just more maitenance that I'm not interested in.

    20. Just my dolls, ironically much.
