The perfect "finishing touch" for your dream doll?

Mar 12, 2014

    1. I recently added an IslandDoll Jonas to my collection. I chose him because he reminded me tremendously of a young Paul McGann and I thought it would be amazing to have a doll of his character from "Withnail & I"--not to mention the 8th Doctor! I immediately began collecting screenshots from the movie so I could track down the exact outfit components, excited about my new replica project.

Then I was looking at a tshirt a friend of mine had had signed for me when I couldn't make a convention Paul McGann was a guest at, and it hit me: if I ever did make it to such a convention, I would bring my doll's jeans to be autographed. Granted, it'd probably be the first time anybody will have asked him to sign tiny pants and will probably look weird, but it would make my ID Jonas the perfect tribute doll and my life would be absolutely and utterly complete. Like, I could die happy right then.

So, DoA: what is your dream "finishing touch?" Your ultimate fantasy thing that you would love to do with your doll? It doesn't have to be likely or feasible--just the thing you that would please you most! Go go go!

    2. Hmm, I actually do have a thing like this... like, something that I'd do with my grail doll if I got it.

My dream doll is a Volks SD13 Suigintou character doll, and I've always had the idea that if I actually were to get her I would cosplay Megu Kakizaki, who is Suigintou's human "master"... The scale would be perfect and I think it would be really cute to cosplay with my BJD

    3. This is very silly but if I could just find jointed hands so that I can pose my doll with either of his gun props I would be happy. :D (Iplehouse nYID Andrew, I wasn't even thinking about matching props to hands when I bought him. Whoops.) Maybe I should just give him a squirt gun instead.

    4. Justin NEEDS a Trukfit necklace and earrings. He NEEDS them! But I can't find jewelry tiny enough to work! Also, Air Jordans in SD scale. :P

    5. A couple of nice pairs to fit each of my bjd collection. Especially the Elfdoll Sooah I just got. Having absolutely no idea what shoes fit her is really annoying me right now :(.

    6. I'm in the process of creating a bjd of Tom Hiddleston as Loki and there are heaps of little things to do with his costume and props that add the finishing touch. He is off having a custom face-up at the moment. I managed to get a staff in the right size for him and next it's the custom made outfit. I can't wait for it all to come together.

This is Hiddles in the outfit I want for my Loki:

    7. HMNNNN...this is hard. XD i think i want to keep adding clothes to my baby's wardrobe but i might try and limit my actually buying of dolls.
(Even though i want to get all of max's family. 8 brothers+dad YIKES)

    8. I still need to make an accessory for each of my two cosplay dolls, and they need their weaponry. *_* I've never made weapons before, either. This is complicated!

Then maybe I'll be brave and send a photo of them to the manga-ka to show him.

    9. Emie - The only thing I want for her is the perfect short wig since her character loses her long hair a few chapters into the story.
Mariana - Is already absolutely perfect. Nothing needed.
Lorina - Her major finishing touch will definitely be the eyes. I think some custom Enchanted Doll ones will do.
Ilari - Needs some pretty major body-mods to be 'perfect' and complete, but everything for that is already arranged and I'm just waiting to hear back on when to send him off at this point. ♥

    10. I'm still building my "grail doll", so right now it's just trying to find the perfect wig and eyes... but I imagine the final finishing touch will be modding an amputated arm for him. First, though, I need to get him! Ahaha.

    11. Currently saving up for my dream boy (at least, my current dream-- the dream I'm actively working towards, let's say), and I know that the last thing is going to be his hair. He has (in terms of my concept for him and how I draw him) short hair that he almost always keeps neatly gelled into a side-part. Well... he'll be spending a long time in need of a 'haircut', character-wise, since a wig like that is going to be very difficult to find/expensive! Even his clothes will be easier despite his being 'odd-sized' (he's a walking fashion disaster anyway). It may be hard to find glasses that resemble his, and shoes might always be a nightmare, but the proper wig is going to be the last thing to come together.

And with Pete... ugh, I need to try making his outfit, but he's another one who I'll need a custom wig for one of these days. And maybe I'll send him to someone to get one of his ears pierced. (and shoes, I don't even know how to look for shoes for that one)

At least Vince is easy. There's no 'finish' for him, but that also means I'm not frantic thinking about the one thing he needs. He can evolve at a relaxed pace.

    12. The perfect wig, and pair of eyes. ^-^

    13. A few years back I started on a project, make all the Shinigami from Kuroshitsuji into dolls. Due to lack of money I only have 2 out of 5 more or less done now. Other than get them done down to the details and make their deathscythes, I had this dream that it would be the ultimate to get them autographed (inside their heads) by their respective musical actors and maybe anime voice actors where applicable, which of course will Always be a dream since I don't speak japanese, can't get to Japan and even if I did I'd be too afraid to come off as a creepy overboard fangirl for some reason. Now there's been a rerun of the musical with new actors I'm back into the project and working on shinigami #3 again, and part of me still really wants him autographed, by both his musical actors who I both adore.

    14. I want my DZ Mr. Bunny and Miss Kitty hybrid to have really elaborate body tattoos. I'm having trouble deciding what I want the themes to be. It'll either be literary figures and their works or ancient Christian art (byzantine through renaissance). :fangirl:
