Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Thin Resin for sleeping MNF's?

Apr 22, 2008

    1. While looking at my new MNF Elf Shiwoo (from March 2008) I noticed that the resin for his eyes and vampire ears are painstakingly thin. I have been very carefull with cleaning, rinsing him in water and using non acetone nailpolish remover. He has been cleaned only once after arrival..

But the resin of his eye sockets is almost non excistant at the thinnest point (where the lashes go) and the vampire ears aren't much better either. If I compare him with my sleeping Shiwoo his eye sockets are really closed with resin.

Is it just a bad cast? I never noticed until now when I held against the light and it makes me very carefull and also very sad. :doh
So I really want to know if more people have seen these trouble spots.

I will try to make pictures.. sadly my new laptop doesn't read any CF cards which what I have in my camera.

    2. I think this is just the nature of the sleeping heads. They are probably just modified versions of the awake heads (with a little putty to close up the eyes, etc.) I have a sleeping MNF Miyu head, and if I hold her up to the light, her eye sockets and ears light up, too. Even with her headcap on, you can still see light through her closed eyes.

If it makes you feel better, I've had her for about a week, and I've already dropped her four times, and no damage yet. :sweat

    3. My sleeping Shushu vampire Elf also lights up with her headcap off. Her ears look fine to me-- a little lighter towards the top outer edge-- as do her eyes and in her forehead area. I think this is just because of the single layer of resin as opposed to filled-in layers the lower face has. I'm not sure if you mean his eyes are unnaturally thin, but as far as my sleeping Shushu goes, I haven't noticed particularly thin resin, so it may just be a bad cast as you suggested. Without photos it's hard to tell. ^^;; My sleeping head fell on her face once into a wooden nighttable, but she was fine aside from some chips in her headcap, which popped off when she hit the flat surface and fell to the floor. If, compared to your other Shiwoo sleeping head, the resin is really thin, then you are right to be careful. No sense in taking any big chances, with the eyes or the Elf ears.

    4. i have 2 sleeping heads, my sleeping shushu has a pile of resin behind her eyes and i'd be so frustrated if i ever had to try to open her eyes. my sleeping mnf woosoo on the other hand, you can see the light thru her lids when her cap is off. so it might be luck of the draw when dealing with eyes on sleeping heads

    5. If you're worried about the eyes you could maybe put a little arir drying clay behind them? not sure. or tac in some doll eyes even though you won't see them, just as support. i don't own a sleeping doll so i'm not sure what they look like inside.
