1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things That You'd Never Do Again

Jun 15, 2013

    1. (As usual, I did some searching, but didn't find anything like this. Hope it hasn't been done before!) When I bought my first doll, a Bobobie Apollo, I bought him a silver wig so long that it goes down to his butt. I love this wig, but I requires a lot brushing and attention when I'm photographing him to not destroy it. I will never, ever buy a long wig again! Nor will I buy a specially styled wig. So, what I want to know is what sort of doll stuff have you guys done or bought or experienced that you'd never do again?

    2. Lol, I had a custom wig that went down to my doll's ankles. Sadly her armor and the zippers on the back of the boots destroyed the ends eventually. So now ... no more crazy long wigs, and if I find a wig I really like and it is essential to my doll's character, I get two of them and keep one as a back up.

Also, after one of my dolls took a tumble and nearly went down a waterfall, I will never take photos without a stand or a friend to be my spotter.

    3. I will never again take a 70cm doll to a hot amusement park...what a nightmare.
I think I have that same long silver wig...I love it too but I won't get any more that long either.

    4. I will never buy a curly wig again. I just don't have the patience to maintain them, even if they are lovely!

    5. I will never buy from Lati again... too much of a hassle, bad customer service and way too expensive for a doll so small. I love my 16mm darlings but none of them cost as much as my lati.

No more curly wigs! I have too much trouble maintaining the single one I have around.

No more limited edition dolls unless I have the funds to afford them on the spot and it doesn't mess up my plans; agonizing over squeezing LEs in my doll plans and moving other sculpts I've been planning for a while back has become way too stressful and hindering towards the completion of my family. But more than anything else it's stressful... so much that it's bad for my health.

    6. I will never again attempt to do a faceup in all one layer. (duh) I was overexcited to do my first faceup so I rushed and was distracted enough to wonder why it wasnt turning out. Eventually, I got so frustrated that I wiped the whole thing including the msc which I should have kept since all my work was in one layer. Heh, heh...:sweat Never again.

    7. Never re-stringing a doll the very first day I get them...Never.Again. I'll wait til the next day or the next week or the next MONTH. Because it was my first MSD and my first time restringing Avalon had legs strung wrong, his arms BACKWARDS and I shed plenty of tears and insults to my doll...

The second time around I just watched Highschool of the Dead during re-stringing and ate a muffin during breaks. It was easy the second time and even easier the third and fourth time...But never again will I re-string a doll unless I've had it for 24 hours...I spent three hours trying to figure it out and wondering what the hell did I just do to my very expensive doll....

Oh....And wiring without looking at a tutorial first...A helpful tutorial.

Or make that never wiring on an empty stomach again....

    8. no more buying the doll alone and getting the wig and eyes "later" i have a doll that's been home for a year now....and i still have to purchase her wig and eyes, just because other things kept getting in the way! D8

    9. Next time I'm buying the shoes and wig BEFORE the doll gets here...

    10. Thisssss!!! xD;;; Maybe wavy, but not curly, just, no way.

    11. Word.

In all the time I've had dolls, I've bought ONE curly wig... I'm afraid to leave it on the doll I bought it for. <_<

    12. I will never again try to do a mod with a kitchen knife. It was a long time ago and I still don't know what came over me. Long story short, part of his torso cracked and the tip of the knife is still embedded in there somewhere. He's fine, but my nerves, not so much!

    13. I will never buy any other Iple. I mean, I have two of them and all iple dolls are gorgeous, but they're so expensive >_< and bodies aren't as flexible as I want :/

    14. Wow. I'll take your advice and not buy a curly wig ever! It seems like a lot of us have "never do agains" involving wigs!

    15. Buy from Nobility Doll. Nope nope nope.

    16. I don't think I'll buy any more two-part torso'ed bodies. I've got one sitting around headless after the lack of poseability axed it from my original plans (that and some proportion issues for the character). Most of the other bodies I have are three-part, and the ease of posing them and moving them around is so much better!

    17. I will never again restring a doll while wearing nail polish. One of my girls has two red stains on her from that. They're not big and they are covered by her clothes, but I still freaked out when it happened.

    18. try to use a ballpoint pen to push a super gem's elastic loop over the foot hook. Kalar has blueish black marks on his resin hook!

And it wasn't even successful in getting the elastic on....

    19. i am never trading a doll ever again, still having issues and it's not worth it.
also never buying from SQ again, customer service is not that great and it has taken so much longer to get my doll then it did for others. i am not impressed with them.

    20. Never impulse buying again. If I like it that much when I first see it, I'll love it six months later instead of opening a doll and going "Oh...:("
