It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. This Doll Looks Familiar

Nov 17, 2014

    1. I'm really not sure if this has been done before. If it has, delete/move please!
Okay, so I just got back into writing and I'm very excited about the story I'm working on. It was a story I had written several years ago and I'm just now editing. I was just browsing dolls on the Luts website and the second I laid eyes on Ethan my eyes widened; he looked EXACTLY like my antagonist. I had never seen him before, not even pictures because I just started to get into the hobby. But his wig, eyes, outfit, everything was exactly like my own OC.
So I guess my question is this; Have you ever come across a doll like this before? Were you disappointed because you feel less original, or were you thrilled? Did you buy the doll?

    2. Yes, I have come across this and honestly, I was very happy. It meant that I could buy it and actually have my character with me.
Sky (my character) looks almost exactly like Sun from Migidoll so I bought him (about a month ago) and am now awaiting his arrival. I don't think you're less creative if you find a doll that looks like a character that already exists. The faces in your head (or at least most features) will always be based off something or someone that you once saw, even if you don't realize it.

    3. I have had this happen before, although the dolls in question weren't exactly the same, and I immediately saved up for and bought the dolls (my Souldoll Rye, Soom SG Sabik, and Soom Vesuvia). Souldoll was even kind enough to alter Rye's default faceup so that it matched my character's grey hair. Sabik's wig was even exactly like my character's wig, though his eyes were different.

I don't think this makes my characters any less unique. There are so many doll companies, with so many unique aesthetics, eventually someone is going to make a sculpt that looks exactly like someone's character. That they happen to have the exact same wig, eyes, or faceup, is not that much of a stretch. In fact, Soom happened to give the bronze skin Yarn/Silky the exact same shade of copper wig as my Vesuvia's Leeke wig. Great minds think alike.

    4. I have. The sculpt name was even the same. I couldn't order him fast enough.

    5. Yes indeed. It was with my very first BJD (a Luts too actually xD). I saw him on the website and I was like "wait... I KNOW this doll... who is he ? Oh yes ! He's my Aloïs !"
And I wasn't disappointed, he really is my character, and there could be no other sculpt that would fit him better !
So, my advice would be : go get him ! If he looks just like your OC, then he IS your OC xD

    6. This happend to me too and I was very happy. I can't mod (and I'm not going to try it) so finding a perfect sculpt is fantastic! Most of the time the face up is completely wrong but the head is perfect! I'm always happy is I find the perfect doll. It means I can shell another character <3 :XD:

    7. Wow! That's crazy but awesome! Good for you!

    8. Actually, I have... Only it was a doll sculpt that reminded me of my favorite MMO toon, rather than a fiction character.

That's how I ended up with an Akando. I hadn't even seriously considered owning an EID previously because of their size and weight, but someone happened to post a picture of their Akando trying out a shaggy grey and white wig and it pretty much made me O_O. It really surprised me how much he looked like Palrah.

    9. My dolls are pretty much the same, they either inspired OC's, I found them (after a lot of searching and imagining) and they worked as my characters, or in the case of Nat, my Homme Ducan, he pretty much gave me the OC that worked for his sculpt right off the bat, I took one look and yeh, somehow that one just fit him. Dont get me wrong, his character is a lot different to what you might expect to put with the face sculpt, but over all he looks right to be Nat and so far were both perfectly happy with his choice XD

    10. Not really an OC. I was looking for a doll that looked like a singer, but wasn't going to order a Minimee and didn't want him in SD size. That looked almost impossible.
Then a friend of mine showed me a website saying "Doesn't this look like him?" and it did look a lot like him, about 20 years younger maybe but that can be fixed XD
I instantly bought him, he's not yet complete though he needs a new wig. He also needs to be restringed and body blushed, but I'm happy I found him.

    11. Yep. I always look for dolls that remind me of my characters, but I had a true "what???" moment when I first saw Soom Dia/Sard. Didn't really believe in ever finding a fitting mold for this specific dude, because May's really old, I created him years and years ago and he is one of my absolute favorites. So I figured I'd be way too picky to ever find the right doll form for him. But well, there I was, looking at it.

Bought one as fast as I could of course.

      I have three now, haha.
