1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Time periods

Jul 13, 2014

    1. Mods: If this thread already exist, feel free to delete it. Thanks.

I was thinking of my dolls when I realized they live in the past. They live in the Victorian era. So, I was thinking of other peoples dolls.

      Questions:
What time period or era do your dolls live in? (Like now, past, or future.)

    2. All of my BJDs live in the present day and are hopelessly modern in their dress.

But I do have two characters whose souls have been reincarnated multiple times. One is over 3000 years old, and the other is around 2800 years. So they have lived through various time periods.

And at least four of my BJDs are elves, and have lived a very long time. They've had to adapt and become modern thrugh the years.

    3. Mine are split along story lines, and are a complete mix.

Most of them are aliens, and live fully in a futuristic setting, mixed with a little traditional Arab, Bedouin, Chinese and Japanese.

For the humans, and a number of my elves, you're looking more 17th/18th century...and now I think of it, they're almost all Chinese. My elves are meant to be early 17th century Chinese (Ming Dynasty for the curious), though have a few elements that are 2nd Century (Han Dynasty/Three Kingdoms era). Human wise, I have the odd 14th century Eastern European and modern day Mongolian, but most of them are 18th Century Chinese and Manchu (Qing Dynasty).
      ...you can't tell I'm a Chinese historian right :p

    4. As I build my own group of Favourite Avengers, you can say they live at present day. Or perhaps a bit in the future? I do not know exactly, to be honest. Some team member, however, are aeons old (like the dragon), some even ageless (I mean the two gods).

    5. One of my dolls character is from the Edo period but since I have him sitting around often in the present day, it makes things kind of interesting. He'd call my car 'the horseless carriage'.

    6. What time period or era do your dolls live in? (Like now, past, or future.)

Both the past, present and fantasy era's (steampunk, lotr, etc.) But I try and make a complete wardrobe to match the time they are currently in

    7. Mine are in the future because the main story line takes place in 2076. Not so far from now. :) For their background, every doll has their own one; from Nara, Kamakura, Middle Age, Victorian, Edo or millions year in the future, etc... So they do wear various clothing style.

    8. Each of mine have/will have a sepreate time period, since they are very different stylistically (DC, RS Human, Deertaur, etc.) the fantasy dolls may live in a shared timeline, but the human ones live in the past. French Country side circa 1890 and late 1910's respectively. I do it because I like the fashion/furniture styles of the individual periods and want authentic settings to match, but also because it's a bit creepy for me, personally, to have dolls set in the here and now. Just a bit too much valley of the dolls, lol.

    9. It depends on the doll "family" I'm looking at, as to what time period they're meant to inhabit. The largest group is set in the modern era/"current time," but in a parallel world with some sci fi and fantasy overtones to it; the smallest is associated with it, but is more "recent past," as the main member of it is one member of the largest group as a child.

The two middle families are the same characters, just in two scales. Their main setting is essentially an early-20th century slightly steampunk-influenced world, with clothing and accessory choices to reflect that... however, they also are able to visit a modern (sci-fi influenced) world, a full-on fantasy world, and others, so I get a lot of flexibility there.

The SD pairs I'm putting together are similar; the main two are two of the characters from the other families, so their time period matches. The secondary two are "resonant souls" of them... not exactly "past lives," but generally the same idea. They're from the distant past, but another world; basically an "old world" feel, but with a little sci-fi and fantasy influence tossed in as well.

And the faeries are faeries and not influenced by timelines at all. :)

    10. What time period or era do your dolls live in? (Like now, past, or future.)

I've got a ton of dolls and they live in all periods and most in alternate worlds! :D

    11. For the most part, all of mine are modern humans.

The only exceptions are Pharaoh Ay, from 18th Dynasty Egypt, and Xerxes, who is a fantasy creature with no real story, so he can fit anywhere.

    12. Mine are all friends and family relating to each other. They may dress Medieval, Renaissance, or Victorian, but that is all for play, like attending a re-enactor event.
They are humans who live in today.

    13. All of my dolls live in the present time, maybe a little in the future but nothing to extreme. I've never really thought much about it.

    14. Most of my SDs are from a fantasy era based on the Early Middle Ages.
The main MSD gang is from a Modern urban fantasy story.

    15. I want my first doll to be in a steampunk theme in the future.

    16. Oh dear. My Sapphira is in an alternate universe/ past timeline with other elves and fantasy creatures. Think Hobbit...he's all by himself for now. My Megi is in a futuristic timeline at the moment...I'm not totally settled on it yet. He may get revamped since his story isn't set. My Miryu, Leile and coming Unoa Sist are in a present normal timeline together. But I wonder if it will stay like this? Story setting/ timelines were so much easier back in my roleplaying days...but I didn't have money for any BJDs back then. XD

    17. Part of my core group live in 3 era's respectively (saves me from having additional dolls to represent different time periods) - my others are modern/contemporary.

    18. I am sorry but this thread will need to be closed. Any discussion on the forum has to be directly related to dolls and or doll ownership, threads that are only about the "character" aspects of the hobby are considered off-topic.
      Thank you for understanding~
