1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

To Buy or Not to Buy?

May 10, 2014

    1. Hello everybody, hope you are all doing ok! I would like peoples opinions / advise on a dilemma I'm having.

I have been toying with the idea of ordering two more dolls and haven't even received my first one yet. Money isn't the issue, that's what credit cards and a job are for right? My issue is... as I haven't had a doll before and don't know much about restringing and whatnot I'm worried that I might receive my first doll and be like... "ermm... no, this isn't for me, I have no idea what I'm doing". My plan was to receive my first doll (DC Bella) and see how things go however my first doll is taking so long to arrive I can't stand the thought of leaving the order for my next two dolls much longer.

The dolls that I am wanting to order (DC Alberta & DC Elizabeth) have a lot more limbs than my first doll so I'm worried they might be too complicated for me to look after. I love the look of them and have been pining after them for months.

So, I guess my question is... do you think it would be safer to stick with the first doll and see how things go before ordering my next two or should I just go for it and see what happens? There is always YouTube for restringing tutorials right? :sweat

      Thanks!

    2. I mean it's your money. However, personally I would wait, my dolls seem less special if I buy them in bulk. Depending on the kind of owner you are (some people just view them as "models) I believe each doll has a personality and that takes a little time to grow. A little one on one time can be good.

If it's a one time opportunity, that's a different story (I always say "that's fate!")

    3. Honestly, it's a learning experience however you do it! I've got an Elizabeth coming at some point, along with a DC Erica, so I know the feeling of the "how will I legs?" dilemma. I figure- do it. You have the money, and even if you do get a little confused, you'll still have the doll- if you lose your job or something, then you'll probably regret not getting them when you could.

    4. Like NoNoNanoon, it seems less special to me to get the dolls in bulk, but that's just me. It's kind of nice to get to spend some one on one time working on one of my dolls before getting the other.
It's your money so obviously the final decision rests on you.
It's always a learning experience though. I was lucky enough to have someone local who knew how to restring my way too loose doll, but there's always tutorials here and on google to teach you how to do certain things.

    5. While the decision of whether or not to make a purchase can be difficult, it is really more suited to a personal blog or journal. As these types of threads do not belong on Den of Angels, this thread is being closed.
We wish you luck on your decision
