1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

To Volks SD Luna and Kurumi owners: What do you think of her (them)?

Mar 5, 2008

    1. Sorry if this is already a topic or in the wrong place, forgive!
Any-whoo...I have a question for those who own either SD Harajuku girls Luna or Kurumi...What do you think of them? Were they worth your purchase, what made you buy them and do you think it was a worth while purchase?
Pretty much what are their pros and cons...almost like a review...
I just want to know what owners think are good and bad about them, I want to learn as much as possible about them; they are my two of my dream BJDs!

    2. Hello Mello!

Thank you for starting this thread. I just bought a Luna here on DoA. She has become my latest "Dream doll", and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. I wasn't able to get her pretty pink BTSSB dress & accessories - but I did get her with her default faceup, eyes & wig. The suwarikko body interests me......I haven't seen one in person, so I'd be interested in hearing what others have found to be good or bad about that.

    3. Congratulations lizjayliz!

I saw that there was a Luna for sale here but I wasn't able to see anything specific about it. I'm so glad that you're getting her! Luna is such a wonderful mold, from what I've seen online she's spectacular and utterly cute; I hope to see one up in person too and hope to know what people think about her! (But I doubt my dry bank account will allow for me to put money aside for for Luna or Kurumi for a while...evil.)

    4. I have Luna. I put in her for back when Volks USA did the lottery for her last year. I thought her headsculpt was cute and I like her red hair and her pink and white lace dress by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. She broke my only SD-13 on up rule.

The only thing I do not like is the face-up with orange and pink colors which to me clash rather than blend together. She is still cute though.

I did not inspect her body, so I didn't even notice if it Swarricco or not. I did ooh and aaah over her dress, but then it is pink and that could be the Barbie collector in me. Pink, oooh, pretty. ;)

    5. Thank you so much stacyinil! I never saw the faceup with full detail...I would most certainly whoo and aahh her dress to a very extreme extent!

    6. Woops double post evil...Sorry!

    7. I have a Kurumi who I liked a lot, she was definately worth it! I was lucky enough to get her at retail price. Both her and Luna are total cuties. I would have loved to have a Luna as well but couldn't afford her at the time.

    8. Its good to hear that she's worth what she costs, but I'd pay anything to get her! Retail price? Through Volks?

    9. I believe when she was released she cost about $960. She is very popular on the second hand market though so I'm not sure how much a fullset would cost now, I would guess over $1500 though.

    10. Yeah I remember seeing a Kurumi for sale for around 2000 U.S. dollars... its seems that they gain value over time.
Thank you so much for your input fireflytranc!

    11. I personally love the Luna default faceup - although I like most other faceups on her too. Her face sculpt is just adorable.

    12. I have a Luna and a Kurumi and they are both my dreamdolls. The sculpts are amazing, and the Volks quality really shines. I LOVE the suwarrico body. It's my favorite Volks body so far.

You will end up paying a lot more then their original cost, I know I did. But they are worth it.

    13. lizjayliz-I've only seen a few custom ones...I'd be too afraid to change her faceup!

Chehime-The sculpts look amazing! Like I've stated so many times Luna and Kurumi are utterly and wonderfully cute. *Raises fists in air dramatically* I'll do anything to get them! My Nono has a Suwarrico body as well and it moves like a dream and is coated evenly with UV protection. Though I don't have a big collection ("collect"=2) and haven't seen a lot of different BJD bodies on real life I find that volks really did a good job. Thank you Chehime!

    14. Chehime ~ I'm so glad to hear you like the suwarikko body! I thought I had read somewhere that people were having troubles with them & I was a bit nervous.

Mello ~ I'd be afraid to change her faceup too! I actually bought a blank Luna head before I found my Luna as a full doll with all defaults. I am sending the blank head to Lilykoi for a new faceup. It will be fun to see the "new Luna".

    15. lizjayliz-Hope you post pictures of both Lunas!

    16. Yes ~ I will post some photos when my default Luna arrives this week. I have been getting a bedroom set ready for her. I found this great doll sized canopy bed at a garage sale.....I've painted it & made a quilt & pillows for it. I picked colors that I thought suited Luna; am I crazy or what? Always shopping for my dolls. My blank Luna goes out for her new faceup tomorrow - so It will be a few weeks before she is ready for photos. Mello ~ are you planning to get a Luna or a Kurumi? Or do you already own them?

    17. I'm saving up for either a Luna or Kurumi; which ever is on the market when I have enough money to purchase one! Eventually I hope I'll be able to own both in the near distant future. I'm obsessed with them so I try to look into them and know as much a possible!

    18. The stand really well and have the super cute sitting pose which I LOVE! You do have to keep their legs straight and they take a minute of adjusting to make sure the legs are positioned correctly (they'll twist around in the socket like cazy but my SD10 boy does this too). The kips are cool for posing but the discs stick out of the elbow joint and it's kind of unatractive but not really that noticable.

    19. I would like to know if there is some trick to getting the suwarikko legs to do that cute pose with the feet turned out? I had to manipulate the strings a bit by pulling her legs down....but i finally got it to work. I am so afraid I will damage her body. Does anyone have any advice about this?

    20. lizjayliz~Congratulations! Did your Luna come with an instruction "how to" booklet? If not do you mean the pose were they're sitting on the floor with the knees in? In the Super Dollfie Guide Book it says quote: 1. basic standing pose 2. Seat SD without bending its knees. Then turn each leg inward 90 degrees. 3. Keep both knees inward; carefully bend the knees to the sides (outward swing;like motion).

Miriam~The wigs look really cute in that style and the colors of the wigs work really well with the color scheme of each outfits! They looked hard to style.
